Software update to 3 fixed all issues. We have no latency, there are shortcuts to quick settings that are not even touched on in this review. Regenerative brake not 1 pedal but very close. Such silly assumptions from people who have not driven on a daily basis!

I don’t know why every one is hating on his opinions and driving impressions. This 2023 ID4 lacks new UI look which I think was much needed. I also agree it is very dumb that the car turns off when you lift your butt off the seat, that needs to be changed it sounds very inconvenient. I think the price is definitely right and VW has solid build quality my mom owns the 2022 VW Tiguan and it’s built like a tank compared to my Tesla model 3.

Got mine the same exterior color last year and having seen the increase in gas prices, I am so glad I did. I’m in the bayarea and in CA in general altho price has come down a bit as of last week, it’s still around $7/gal or more in SF. Now for the haters on here, I’m happy with my ID4 and yes it’s not perfect however it’s not at all as bad as everyone said. Many are just parroting the same complaints from what they’ve heard and seen. Someone mentioned leasing in Canada is 8%+, that is ridiculous! A year ago here in the US I was approved at just about 2% for purchase and almost zero % for leasing and no money down. Yes, credit score is intact so I was lucky. It was a no brainer for me and went with leasing and I received the $7k federal credit and $2k state, right at signing. That’s $9k off automatically at signing. Besides, here in CA, Teslas are all over the place, 7 of them right when I drive out of my garage and all over the freeway. Ironically it’s like playing punch buggy😅 PS haven’t had problems with Apple Play. I’ve had to reset my infotainment a couple of times in 15 months, not a whole lot of complaints from me.

Love the review. Im in China, and I just got my id4 with newest software. The problem of car shutting down when your butt leaves is not fixed, but I bought a seat decoder(150rmb) which allows me to set it in three modes (original, 10secs, 8hours) by simulating my weight. However, after installing it, the airbag warning will show up and you need to get it removed from the local dealer shop. I wish VW could listen to customers advice and easily ota a setting to solve the problem.

Keep your seat belt plugged in before you get out to keep the system energized. Try pulling the passenger belt clip over.

I just got my 2023 ID.4 Pro RWD on Saturday. As I started driving my car home to work and vice versa, I have noticed a rattling sound on the passenger side. is this a known issue? it's like the passenger side door is rattling with stones inside, or some rocks are hitting the door from outside (of course im driving in a freeway). no issues how the car run. but it's super annoying to hear this rattling sound.

I've had my Id4 for 3 weeks now and am really enjoying it. I've also owned an ionic 5 and gv60. As well I've owned a Polestar 2, bolt and model y. Right now I'm ranking the Id4 3rd place behind my Polestar (loooove that car) and gv60. I'm enjoying it a very small margin over my ioniq but I'm only e weeks into ownership so that may change.

I watched a video yest where an ID4 owner had been waiting for months for an engine replacement. Apparently the engines are coded specifically for the car? Weird.

Android auto switches off on my phone when i get out of the car but i still have my route activated on the phone. when i get in it , and the bluetooth is enabled , the android auto switches back on and i can carry on with the route. perhaps you have a different phone setup but i dont have that problem. you mentioned it around 5:20. Great car... you probably still get the 3 free years of electricty?

Both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay users had trouble on this event - particularly with multiple waypoints programmed into the route.

It’s very good! Hands need to be on the wheel, but it will complete lane changes on its own when the signal is activated.

Not sure what bugs in software people are referring to. I just received my 2023 Pro S AWD and no issues whatsoever. Btw, i dont think all 23 models are built in TN. During the waiting time for mine, I received notifications that my vehicle has "just entered the country". Also, 23 models don't come with level 1 charging cable.

Thanks for this test drive review! You did a good job telling us your 1st drive impression. Appreciate! Though it's not a novelty, this is a case of merits outweighing demerits. Think about its outstanding features like their fuel engine specs, fuel economy, low MSRP... A good EV overall I believe!👍

Being in regen mode doesn’t mean you get more regen than using the brake pedal. Regen mode is generally less efficient than coasting, as you end up braking more which is inherently lossy….

I have a question if you would be so kind to answer about the cars interior. I ordered my Id 4 OWD way back in March Now it is supposed to come Q1 of 2023 not original 2022 I ordered. The new interior color is Cosmic/ Blue with black stitching. Is that what you were driving in this video. If so can you discribe as much as possible the color combinations. It is hard to see in your video because of the bright sun but is that steering wheel and screen White...Thanks for the Great Video

Checked the ID.4 on CDN website and the 62 KwH version is close to 50K after Tax. Bolt EUV is 3K cheaper for 250 miles (65 KWh). Seems like GM will sell more cars and when Equinox EV comes out for 35K CDN, for 250 miles??? Seems to me that the ID.4 will have a serious competitor.

I wouldn't buy, finance or lease this until VW straightens out and resolves the electronic gremlins - due to software issues. There are a lot of comments below and current owners that are complaining about it. Especially when it risks your safety of driving.

The reality is, the top trim AWD ID4 went up in price by 4500 bucks from the 2021/22 model yr. And delivery numbers were pathetic because VW just refused to deliver cars to Canada preferring to deliver to the US. I don't know if anybody in Canada actually got a 2022 model yr since they stopped taking orders since March. And now we are heading into a recession. VW raised their lease rates to 8.34% and gave the ID4 an incredibly bad residual value. I'd say the EV6 or Ioniq 5 are 200ish dollars less per month to lease. So the ID4 is actually the worst value of the 3 you mentioned.

Good sales talk, now report about all the faulty problems that vehicle has. Thus report you made about VW will hurt your reputation for not reporting the reliability. As of today on your reputation is tarnished and marked as a unreliable reporter or a paid reporter.

While I don't appreciate -- or even understand -- you attacking my credibility and integrity as a journalist, let me ask you: How am I expected to report on reliability of a vehicle when my test uncovered no issues? I drove the vehicle for about six hours, and in that time it showed no symptoms of poor reliability. I can only report on what I experience in these vehicles, not what others do.

@@danilika9420 admit it, you were paid for that report and if you didn’t do a good job you will not be invited again. I don’t appreciate accountant telling a plumber how to do his job. I got my VW based on good reviews from experts in that field. And when I get deceived by journalists that have way with words I am the one that paid my hard earned money and have to live with all the issues and delays from dealer ship workshops lies and lack of training. Get some credibility back and report those scumbags for making the vehicle available to the public without testing it. You are just paid to make a turd look good enough to eat.

@@JohnnyOshika VW are considering giving me a replacement due to the issues that vehicle has, I am hoping to get an updated replacement. Someone suggested to ask them for a full refund. Johnny VW know the ID vehicle was rushed to the market and needs a lot of work. In my opinion the second generation might be more reliable so I will ask them to keep my money and just send me the updated version as a direct swap? But I got that vehicle based on reviews and all of them gave it good reviews. Now I know they are just paid to premonition vehicles and I feel they can not be trusted
