2023 World Championship of Shoe Shining | London Super Trunk Show | Kirby Allison

In today's video, Kirby Allison is back in London for the 2023 London Super Trunk Show, which hosts the World Championship of Shoe Shining. The event brings together shoe aficionados and showcases the craftsmanship and tradition of the shoemaking industry. The World Championship of Shoe shining sees three contenders from different countries compete against one another to see who can produce the best mirror shine in just 20 minutes!
The contestants use Saphir Médaille d'Or products, available online at KirbyAllison.com, to achieve incredible mirror shines. Starting with brand new shoes, each contestant has just 20 minutes!

The talent these folks exhibit is astounding. For the life of me, I can't get a good quality shine on a pair of shoe ( Allen Edmonds). It keeps "flaking?" at the interior side of the toe cap (not after wearing, but during the "shining" phase). But hey, at least the removal and retry is giving me plenty of experience. It is a fun hobby watching a little TV at night. I do wonder if a better brand would make a difference.

Which polish are you using? I found when using drugstore shoe polish that it would flake off like this sometimes.

@@ramanshah7627 I use all Saphir products the creme surfine polish, medaille d'or, and mirror gloss. I'm almost certain its my technique between the d'or and mirror gloss. I can't figure out how Kirby and these pros seemingly mix between them and come up with such flawless work.

I have a queabout suit lapels - I've noticed that many of the nicer suits i see on tv and the tube have slightly wrinkly lapel hems --- I'm guessing it is to show off the "hand stitching" If a jacket is hand stitched shouldn't the Seam be less noticeable ? I noticed that none of them clean the shoe first. That’s very important to do before you put any type of polish on whether it’s a new or a well worn pair of shoes. You have to clean the shoes first.
