So instead of fixing the front forks which everyone was complaining about for 6 years, they slapped a TFT onto it. Amazing progress.

I hear you, but I think it's necessary to keep the price dowb. Like Dan said (and from what I've read) it's sufficient for daily road use and only really starts to lack if you're hitting the track or twisties.

I purchased a 2019 MT07 for I hadn't rode in 30 years. A great bike. sorted out the suspension. Dave Moss has a cheap fix for that soft front fork, Ohlin on the rear and S22's. A blast on tight twisties. The Ohlins kit would be an excellent investment.

75HP is more than anyone will ever need on open roads, and more than most riders are capable of handling anyway. There is very little point selling 200HP road bikes that stay up just thanks to rider aids. I don’t like the look of any Yamaha model (I am more of a Triumph guy), but I find the sheer simplicity of a bike with a wired accelerator, no riding modes and no unnecessary bullshit very refreshing. And possibly less expensive to maintain. You can’t break what is not there in the first place.

It's more than enough but does get boring over time, it kinda left me wanting more. After trying an MT-09, MT-10, R1 and Nuda 900R, going back to the MT-07 didn't feel as exciting.
@superleggenda
@superleggenda 8 ай бұрын
@@ReevyMotovlogs Of course it didn’t, because raw grunt is always more exciting. But having more power means there will be plenty of times you won’t be able to use it for whatever reason. Riding aids are making dangerous bikes rideable, but they do it by basically limiting power output. The MT07 in that respect is a much more honest bike. It is what it is, no reason to curtail its power because it is just enough.

75hp with a 80kg rider is fine on a 180kg bike. Two up touring on a 250kg bike you need around 117hp for the same power/weight. I think the sweet spot is about 100hp if you want to do a bit of everything.

It’s cool to see a video about the MT07 update, I did my training and test on the previous version and I’d love to go back and try this knowing what I know now… which isn’t loads but I’ve had an GSX-8S for a few months now and I feel like Suzuki worked hard to make a worthy competitor to the MT07 which like you say is testament to how good it is. I also loved your video on the 8S that might have had something to do with me getting one. Thanks!

The one and only reference to the bars being raised 12mm and offset 10mm towards the rider, is from this video, and I've watched pretty much every 2023 MT07 vid worth watching on KZbin, I'm not saying it's wrong- I believe it! I just can't believe nobody else has mentioned it, it's a big change...🤔 A lot mentioned the bars being wider, but nothing else.

Really glad you mentioned that it is appealing even to more expirienced riders. Hate when people call an MT-07, GSX-8S or Hornet 750 a "begginer bike" makes it sound like everyone need to upgrade to liter bike eventually but big engine and a lot of power is not equivalent to how much fun you have on a bike and for most people 70-100HP is more than enaugh for a fun daily ride. I had an opportunity to test ride the GSX-8S as well as GSX-S1000GT and I've got to say while on the 8S I couldn't stop smiling, can't say tha same about S1000GT.

Cracking, simple, unintimidating, fun bikes ..... but out classed by cheaper bikes from other manufacturers now, Yamaha are lagging behind a bit on this one - £7.5K is too expensive for what the MT07 offers when compared with the competition.

@@barry5138 both the Honda CB750 Hornet (£6999) and KTM 790 Duke (currently on offer in the majority of dealerships for £6999) are a step up from the MT07 in terms of componentry, electronics and performance. The KTM could be a gamble reliability wise but the Honda should be solid on that front.

@@Englishbikerdan I owned a 2018 MT07 from new for 14 months and now own a 2019 790 Duke ... the Duke is comprehensively more bike in every area than the MT - better suspension and chassis, a lot more engine performance, lean sensing IMU, full suite of top level electronics available. There is no doubt it is in a higher class than the MT07 ... yet costs just over £500 less currently. The MT is a great fun and simple bike but it is priced around £1.5K too high for the basic spec and componentry it offers.

@EnglishBikerDan, you've had them both.. what would you prefer? The Sv650 or the Mt07? I know looks are subjective, so for me it's the Sv650X .. but how's the underlying skeletons? the engines, suspensions, breaks, all the package? What say you? Will ofc drive-test them both in the spring for the new season, but need to keep dreaming in the autumn/winter break.. so need a pro's opinion :). Need a fun day to day/weekend bike. No long touring on it, only a couple of hours of fun. Have a 300cc which I've loved, but kind of grown over the limited power. Might go even further up the class in case I manage to drink less this winter, up to Ktm 790 or the Gsx-8s, Honda Hornet.. but right now I'm looking for cheap fun :).

My bike was new and had done 300 km . I had a similar issue to shifting and thought this was rubbish for a 2024 bike and I understand it’s still not run in yet for a new bike . I changed the oil and got a big change , gears shifted like they should . Note the bike does need a warm up as the clutch gets a bit sticky ‘ when put into first gear and grabs ‘ but once warm up all good . Try a quality oil and hope this helps , otherwise better take the bike to a mechanic. Good luck 👍🏼
