So why does the Yamaha R1 sound so good? Well, Its engine is designed a little differently than the typical sport bike with an inline 4 design. The R1 uses what's called a crossplane crankshaft. Maybe we'll cover what a crossplane engine is in the future, but for now, let's get back to this video. This particular R1 is actually the R1M, which is basically the top tier, race version of the yamaha R1. Tons of carbon, looks super sick. He previously installed a racefit slipon exhaust so be sure to check out the R1 racefit exhaust clips in this video. This bike screams!! We also updated the airfilter with a p08 which as you can see adds a bunch of benefits over the bulky and restricting stock air filter. And of course, we put this r1 sportbike on the dyno to see how much power we can get out of it!! This bike might be the best liter 1000cc motorcycle for the track. Some people argue that a 1000cc motorcycle is too much for the track, but if a 1000cc is light and nimble enough, it could make for a great track bike. Especially if it has a bunch of torque! Not always but majority of the time we are doing 4th or 5th gear pulls.
