My dad has this car and I love driving it sometimes. I drive a moderately modified Evo X so you can imagine it's faster but not the same experience at all. The type S is super smooth and comfortable, but has the power to have a bit of fun. He's definitely right about the sound system though. I literally used to take his car just to enjoy my music on the way to the gym. It's incredible.

Having physical buttons and controls while maintaining a luxurious interior is something that a few other manufacturers could learn from. I know Honda sometimes underrates their horsepower numbers, how does this car feel speed wise compared to the number they've given it?

@@tyhyhh Yes but then you'll be right at the upper limit of reliability and safe power limit with that engine. Cast pistons, unfortunately. Anything over that power number and you're going to need to go in to the block and upgrade to forged pistons. Then, you have the transmission to worry about.

If you get a chance to drive one of these on a curvy back road, you will understand how great of a road car this is! It is the total package. Handling, sound, torque, comfortable, fast, brake feel. Take a longer test drive.

I picked up a 23 tlx type s, and have enjoyed it so far. It’s alot of fun to drive and feels just so good commuting. It also just feels special, and people are always asking me about it. My biggest complaint is the transmission being the weak point of the car. I’ve been hearing a few stories of transmission failure at 25-40k. It can be jerky, limits output in first gear, and is clearly the reason they only gave the car 355hp. I have also have some quality issues with some rattles, speaker crackling, and bad puddle lights. Dealership fixed all those no questions asked. But slightly disappointed with build quality, especially compared to some of my older Acura’s.

Awesome night drive. The touchpad interface is on its way out… not sure if this is the quickest turn around for Acura with this system being out for only 3-4 years? They are now going to a touch screen which addresses the issue I had when I drove this for a month

The track pad only sucks because it was executed poorly. Apple CarPlay doesn’t work like the rest of the system and it’s limited in its features. Acura stood its ground when this setup came out and said this is the best way to do infotainment, and then they’re going to blame the customers for their shortfall

@@nut2964 I did before deciding for the Integra-S. The fact is that the measured passenger volume space is smaller in the TLX. Look it up. The rear leg room is smaller than a Ridgeline. Midsize pickups are known for cramped rear seats.

As much as I want to love the TLX Type S, the BMW M340i xDrive is better in almost every metric, especially if it's an older model with iDrive 7 (screw iDrive 8). Especially with the ITS out and priced so closely to the TLX, it feels like they missed the mark with this one... Now if this was a manual SH-AWD, with the infotainment from the Integra/Civic, instant buy.

@@alpe6228 I would agree the TLX looks better, but all things considered, I disagree on the M340i having nothing going for it. The interior is better, even though I hate the new iDrive 8 design, the infotainment is more user friendly (again iDrive 7 in a used model would be ideal). The suspension might be a tie, I would have to sit in both again back to back... But the B58 engine has been proven to be almost bulletproof even with mods and a tune. Tuning aside, BMW is no longer the shitboxes of the past that blow up when you look at them wrong. Actually, they rank higher than Honda/Acura now in reliability ratings.

Yea, I felt people were too hard on this thing. Honda did a GREAT job with this car and its not overstressed like the german engines so I’m pretty confident it’ll be much more reliable. Total cost of ownership this thing is a no brainer vs the Germans. My question would be this. I'd rather see 20-50 30-70 50-70 mph as that is the power you'll actually be using. Also would love a talk about how it drives. They do things differently so would love a comparison.

@@gettcouped Type S is also quicker 5-60. 30-50, and 50-70, the CT5 V is faster, also has a higher trap speed in the 1/4 mile even though it’s the same time for both cars. They are about even on the skid pad as well at 0.99g. Stopping distance goes to the CT5V, beating the Type S by 2ft.

It’s the lack of tuning that it has. You are pretty much stuck with what it has. If one doesn’t care about making it go faster, it’s a perfect car. Extremely nice and fun to drive.

This is a phenomenal car if you don’t mind the limited power and low rpm. Tuning doesn’t do much. For real HP, you need to change the heads and turbo which is not cheap and you lose warranty. Not sure if 10 speed will handle all that extra power. Acura dialed the high rpm’s back on purpose. So it doesn’t blow. They neutered it. Sadly.

Same with the Civic.. after a downpipe and tune, you're basically at the upper limit of safe power on the factory cast pistons. I was really considering one but the FWD held me back and then that really stopped me from wanting it. Shame because my local dealer has one in the exact spec I'd want, with 1 mile for MSRP.

lil bias about the chime ring out I personally hate this seatbelt chime. I think the one on the new gen Mazdas is an endearing and cute little jingle that I wouldn't mind greeting me to a breezy 5 am commute this one? would actually get on my nerves. idk what decibel frequency it is, but its super grating and obnoxious
