Y'all are way smarter than me lol. I tried AP chem because the stupid schedule system my HS used didn't tell me that Honors Chem. and Organic Chem. were basically required to understand the material (THEY WEREN'T MARKED AS PREREQUISITE CLASSES UNTIL THIS YEAR, after I graduated). I went from Gen Ed chem to AP chem and got COOKED, like DEEP FRIED. I wasn't able to drop the class because I was only told this info after 3 WEEKS INTO THE CLASS. I tried to gather as much info as I could from that class, and it helped so much for Honors chem, and now I actually understand about half of what I need to know to tackle AP chem. But yeah, I'm kinda pissed that I practically had been misled into taking a class that was WAYYYY out of my league only for them to correct that mistake the following year.
@thepanman6742 ай бұрын
For clarification, I had dropped AP chem the following quarter and swapped into Honors Chem, which I understood much better and even was able to help my classmates with better understanding concepts like stoich (which absolutely wrecked me at first lol).
@Shaia_TeamLCE12 күн бұрын
@@thepanman674Wait, you were supposed to do Gen Chem, then Honors, then Organic, then AP? Here you just have to do either Gen or Honors, get a B or higher in either one, and you take AP Chem the following year 😭. hiya !! you mind telling me your study method? cause goddamn bro 😭
@eli-isАй бұрын
@piccotaro A lot of it is how my brain works (I have a better memory than most people, and I'm very good at math after I get the hang of the rules). I also don't use my phone in school hours unless it's necessary, which lets me pay attention in class much better. I started using multicolored BIC pens last year, and I love them because I have a weird writing condition. Their plastic feels so much better on my skin than the wood of pencils. (You'll still need pencils for the AP exam, and I can't erase work with pens, so I still use pencils occasionally.) These pens also let me color-code and organize my notes easily. You should do what's best for you to take and study your notes! One thing I did in freshman year was make quizzes on Blooket for each unit of my Biology class. The act of typing the question with correct/incorrect answers helped me remember even more than actually taking the quiz. I keep a journal of all the homework I have in my classes for the day, along with any quizzes/tests I have that week and any other important events I may forget. I tend to forget what work I have and second guess myself when I'm finished with the work, so this fixes both problems pretty well! I have had some procrastination issues this year, which I do want to repair before they become more severe. You should have some way to get invested in the content that you are learning. For example, I am in APUSH right now, and I generally don't care about learning early US history as compared to current events. However, there are times when I am annotating my notes (which my APUSH teacher makes us all do), and I find something so interesting that I need to look it up and put it in context. I read that Africans coming to the British colonies were treated as indentured servants as long as they were baptized. After a while of researching, I learned that England outlawed the slavery of Baptized Christians until 1667, even if they were not white. This shows that the growing need for slaves to boost the Southern colonies' economies eventually took precedent over the equality within the popular denomination that Separationists in the Northern colonies took pride in. Lastly (for now), I know when to talk to my teachers. I ask them for help when I need it. I personally feel more comfortable talking to them in person, so I either set up a time (I get to school an hour and a half early and have lots of free time, which I know not everyone does) to talk with them or ask another teacher with the same subject about my issue. Emailing your teacher is probably the better method of contact, but again, I don't know how your school life works. I hope this helps, and I may add more if I remember other tips. Thank you for showing your interest in learning, and I wish you luck!
