The 2024 Aston Martin DB12 ($281,800 in Canada, $245,000 in the US) is finally here and is what Aston calls the world’s first Super Tourer. The V12 found in the DB11 has been left behind, and in its stead is an even more powerful twin-turbo V8 that makes 671 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. Along with many new updates, such as stiffer torsional rigidity, all-new suspension, and an upgraded infotainment system, does the new DB12 deserve the title of Super Tourer? Aston Martin has a heritage like no other. A brand unto itself. However, it is a shame that emissions removed their flagship V12 powerplant which really was the heart of the DB (David Brown) platform which gave Aston Martin its iconic sound and road presence. On a more positive note, the styling on this car is exceptional and we really owe respect to Lawrence Stroll for reviving the brand and ushering in a new period for the company, its F1 team, and all the new models to follow. Aston Martin is, once again, a competitor.

Can you really say the V12 was the heart of the DB? The original DB1 had a straight four and every following DB till the DB7 had a straight six (which the DB7 also had). Only the DB9 and the last two DBS (first DBS was I6 and V8) were exclusively V12.

Cars are either functional elements that serve a purpose, or they manage to touch us emotionally in addition... which is infinitely more challenging. And the new DB12 has achieved the latter for me, even if to this day I'd rather have a non-digital front end option from Aston Martin for speedo and revs.

I got to say, I love the new interior and tech. From a technical point of view it is a step up compared to the DB11 no doubt. But, in my opinion, I think the DB11 had a better exterior look. Don’t really like the front of this new one (specially the headlights) and, also, I do miss the V12.

Excellent video review, as usual. I'm with Thomas on the grill size. Why do all cars have to look like some form of Baleen Whale these days? The grill should be just large enough to allow for proper cooling, and of course, offer the unique shape to the brand. DB11 already was like that. Thats where Aston is putting their chips with their DB cars. Its a great spot since there really isnt much competition. Bentley has better luxury and comfort, but drives way worse. Ferrari/Porsche/Lambo etc all drive better and are more exciting, but dont have the comfort and luxury for touring. Aston's DB is the only car in this market segment that does both great (but not excellently like their more one-dimensional rivals). Its really about whether youre a glass half empty or half full kind of guy

Miss the V12 but the general modernisation and improvements do seem to make it an all round better car - just a really decent proper Aston. For some reason my dream Aston (playing with the configurator) colour seems to have gone though - a yellowy bronze which looked fantastic) What's not to love! Oh and when are you testing the Valor :-)!

Bro, I loved the Royal Indigo with the bronze rims on the DB11. They got rid of that color, but replaced it with storm purple, which imo is more suiting of the DB12, so I’m not completely upset about it, but still. Also, the bronze rims for the DB12 are gone, and I hate it
