Not his first appearance either! We've done several historic episodes with him as well.

Leclerc was on a 4 stop strategy because he tried the hards after his incident and found out that it was useless and carried on the race with the mediums

As much as you want to critique hamilton this race.. he had a HOLE in his sidepod and floor damage.

FP1Will's comment on the vid was about Ocon vs Gasly but yeh its the same lol, basically bootleg The battle was just messy but yeh Max was more at fault, never heard the comparison with football and the whole foul malarkey but its so true Im portuguese and our players or more correctly our league is notorious for throwing themselves into the ground to get a foul on their favour Edit: On Lando and Oscar, they still dont bite/fight each other but its the whole Oscar is still to inexperienced, give him a couple of years and they will start to fight much more

Genuine question apart from the first two races and Miami where he was stuck at the back of a DRS train (ironic) after a faulty tyre in qualifying, has Ricciardo had a single poor race this season? I feel like he's been either consistently decent (mostly spurred by a subpar qualifying effort, or a deleted lap) or quite good, especially the last five races (and I feel it's a bit of an underreach calling Tsunoda definition midfield, considering he's probably been the best non-top 4 driver bar Hulkenberg maybe) Also, it's bit unfair to say Aron's the best driver in F2, he's been good but benefitted from Hitech basically running him as a one-car team with no real issues, Hadjar's been Mecachromed about five times and robbed. Despite Antonelli not showing a podium he's scored seven times in the worst-run team on the grid, Bearman has done so on four occasions and now has a seat in all but writing Con I know you're lurking, give me your thoughts P.S. Alonso has also been terribly unlucky, running an engine down on power, but he seems to really have fallen off a cliff in the last two races.

Me, lurking? _Neveeer_ ... /s Ricciardo has been consistently mid. Tsunoda is beating him on quali pace by one of the larger margins on the grid, although it is still a much smaller margin compared to last year (as is the case with almost all driver pairings). If you normalize the times of all quali sessions for 100s laps (so you get a percentage value), Ricciardo is on average 0.146% slower than Tsunoda in Quali; only 3 teammate pairings have a larger gap (ALB vs SAR 0.269%, VER vs PER 0.493%, BOT vs ZHO 0.572%). The thing is: consistently mid is not good enough to justify Ricciardo's presence there. He either needs to step it up to be team leader, or make space for the rookie who belongs into the other seat. To quote Helmut Marko: " _The goal was that he [Ricciardo] would be considered for Red Bull with exceptional performances. That seat now belongs to Perez, so that plan is no longer valid._ " With Checo having been given his unjustified two year contract extension, Ricciardo's reason for being there has expired. There are no exceptional performances, and the seat they would've been for is blocked. Lawson is ready for F1, and they need to put him in that seat as soon as possible, since soon enough they'll have another rookie ready to make their way into F1 with Hadjar. I agree with Tsunoda being in the top 5-6 drivers on the grid right now, although if Ricciardo keeps matching him, that rating will drop. As for the F2 situation: Paul Aron is easily the best driver in F2 right now in my opinion. He has been good, yes. Not brilliant in terms of single performances tho. Far more importantly, he has been consistent! And he hasn't caused any needless incidents that would've cost him a good points scoring result, or stalled the car at any point from what I remember. I think Antonelli and Bearman are overrated. Calling Prema the "worst-run" team on the grid is something I just cannot get behind. They're Prema. They typically always knew best how to set up a car. This 2024 Formula 2 car is much different from anything we've seen in F2 thus far. It is basically a much worse looking version of the F1 cars; the first F2 cars with Ground Effect. They drive different to the previous generation of cars, and maybe Bearman and Antonelli are simply having a hard time adjusting to them while Prema are struggling to figure out how to properly set them up. This indicates a few things. a) Rushing Antonelli straight from beating noname grids in FRECA to F2 was a mistake. Should've done F3 first, and given time to learn. He may well be as big a talent as he is made out to be, but this risks wrecking his career before it even really starts. b) Bearman is overrated. Of course he was great in F2 last year - he drove with Prema in a car they knew best how to set up - unlike the current one. Anything less than his 4 victories would've been disgraceful. c) Neither Antonelli nor Bearman know how to set up a race car to save their life. In the past, we have seen other drivers who were really good at this in the lower categories already, and for whom it translated nicely into F1. Carlos Sainz is said to be the best driver on the F1 grid right now when it comes to technical feedback and car setup. Pierre Gasly has been making his own car setup calls already in his junior career (and also was blocked from doing so during his half season at Red Bull). Max started making his own setup calls when he entered F3. And Mick Schumacher is also known for great technical feedback and car setup ability (plenty of quotes from Komatsu, Simone Resta, and the Merc and McLaren engineers who worked with him last year to back this up). This confirms my suspicions about Bearman's Saudi Arabia performance. Out in Q2 and scoring P7 in what was easily the 2nd strongest car on the grid at the time was the bare minimum that meant he didn't significantly underachieve. He didn't crash the car and he showed he can handle it, but he did qualify and finish considerably lower than what the car was capable of. We all remember how much people hyped up Nyck de Vries after his single "sensational drive" when he filled in for Albon. So you'd think people would know better by now than to read too much into singular outings like those. As for Alonso: no, he hasn't. He caused the crash in Imola that damaged his engine. He needs to take responsibility for this one. I keep hearing he has merely checked out and just isn't pushing the car to the fullest anymore, but I don't think this excuse should be allowed to account for all of what is going on with him. Alonso fans have drilled home the narrative for years that Alonso can drive any car to the fullest of it's potential, and that he can adapt to anything. So how on earth did Lance Stroll outqualify him at so many sessions already this year? Lance's quali average is now about 0.3% closer to Alonso than it was at the same time of the season last year. Some credit needs to be given to Stroll here, and some responsibility needs to be thrussed upon Alonso. He isn't just "poor unlucky Alonso". He is genuinely struggling. - Con, the producer (please note that my comment only represents my views, not the overall "views of the podcast" or anything. Peter, Ciaron, Nav, we all disagree on a whole number of things. And I don't like Nedzo's take on Mick Schumacher in this episode either - but the podcast is not my mouthpiece, and everyone is allowed to speak completely freely)

Personally feel like Lando could've gone further to the left onto the kerbs and runoff to avoid a collision, but to be fair as a driver you'll want to hold your position on track. Should he then go off track you can argue he was put off track and get Max a 5 second pen

He's becoming known as "Lando the Bottler" and "Lando the Choker" in the community. He could easily sit on like 4-5 victories already this year. And what is Piastri doing being consistently around 3 tenths off Norris in race pace, and having the 5th largest teammate quali gap on the grid to Norris as well? (0.131%) - Con

@DRSTrainPodcast Canada I think max most likely was always gonna win with the changeable conditions but Spain he should have won and at Austria he blew his chance, at bare minimum he should have won 3 races at this point of the season
