For vol.4 I have a few idea (sorry if it was before): - The forgotten new Saudi track - The forgotten Indonesian Grand Prix - When Mahaveer was slower in F2 than drivers in F3 - Berger's jokes on Senna - Halo againsters (those who were against were the ones whom it saved) - The stewards used dogs (against audience in 1973 dutch GP), also, the whole incident should take a part - Peter Collins should've been 1956 champion - Ecclestone-Moss switch (1958 monaco GP) - Patrese m*rdered Peterson

@@RadityaPramanaPutra2001 for your questions: 1) Qiddiyah (or sth like that), should be there from 2025, but delayed to 2028 I believe 2) Yes, there would've been a new track next to the new capital, but I haven't heard anything about it (should've been race from 2025-26) 4) It's not just one GP. Berger and Senna used to prank the other for straight years in the most hilarious ways (like Berger threw out Senna's new suitcase from a plane, because he was so proud of it, etc) 6) Yes, Roger Williamson crashed and was upside down, the car is on fire, he was stuck. A driver tried to help him, rotating the car, which was impossible alone. The marshals were careless, didn't help nor didn't have fireproof clothes, the extuingisher was not alone, the fire engine was far from the scene. So the driver tried to ask help from the audience who tried to go to the track. To avoid any further casualities they used dogs as well if I'm not mistaken to prevent fans going to the track.

@@RadityaPramanaPutra2001 sorry, from phone I could continue like that. Collins thought he is young, has plenty of time winning it (died 2 years later in an accident). 9) 1978 Italian GP. They thought Patrese scared Hunt, because the start was rigged (they didn't wait everyone to stop, so the back was in a huge advantage at the start, like Patrese) and Hunt made the accident in which Peterson died. In addition to the Latifi timing, Massi inexplicably moved lapped cars out of the way of Verstappen to close him up to Hamilton. The famous Toto Wolf quote of "No, no Mikey! This is so wrong!" still plays in my head whenever I think about that race.
@phightinphil257 ай бұрын
The Funny thing is if they wanted drama they had it without messing up the end of that race and the Saudi Arabian GP the week before. If the poles and fastest laps had aligned correctly they could have tied with Lewis winning the Championship on the wins tiebreaker. The earlier close calls at Silverstone, and Monza wouldn't look too suspicious if the end didn't feel like the stewards and Masi were completely incompetent or rigging the end of the season. I'm a Max fan and I don't feel like F1 did either driver justice with how they handled the last 2 GPs of 2021.
@joshuawhelan93587 ай бұрын
It's even more sus, when they could've easily let them all through earlier, actually stating that lap cars can't overtake (something people forget), and then Alonso coming onto the radio joking about how ridiculous it was
@phightinphil257 ай бұрын
@@joshuawhelan9358 Or Masi could have thrown the red flag since he was making rules up to force a finish. That way Hamilton has the same tires as Max and the lap cars are clear. A true 1-2 lap sprint for a world title is about as dramatic as it gets.
@thegoldencaulk27427 ай бұрын
There's a rumor, no idea how true, that Massi was told by one of the other stewards that only 5 cars had been lapped. So his decision to unlap only those cars, which happened to be between Hamilton and Verstappen, was based on faulty information and the assumption that he *had* done it by the book. Then Masi was used as a scapegoat to protect the FIA from a blunder of their own making, not just his. That's the rumor, anyway...
@phightinphil257 ай бұрын
@@thegoldencaulk2742 Again it probably would have been better even if it was technically a unorthodox decision to red flag the race so that he would have know the amount of cars to unlap if their was any doubt. Those last 2 races were either the most incompetently marshaled and run races in a long time or were very much planned to go a certain way if that was what was needed to create drama that already existed to some extent.

People forget that no one understood the tyres in early 2012, and that Maldonado was very fast that year when he didn't crash into things. It's really a year where the results sheets won't tell you half the story. Not hard to imagine the perfect storm where he wins on merit. Also, a Maldonado win wasn't gonna help sport as a whole. Remember when Brawn won in 2009, and everyone said it was great but the global ratings fell by like 20%? Outliers winning isn't often what brings in new people.

Ideas for Vol.4: Tier 8: East German and Franciost Spainish drivers. Reason: according to wikipedia there were 4 drivers that came from East Germany (a communist regime) and even though a lot of drivers in Spain like Alonoso were born in modern day Spain however I counted 6 drivers that raced under the Francoist Regime ( a fascist regime that lasted from 1936-1975) I know this video was posted a few months ago but this would make for a really intresting iceburg entry so long as you use wikipedia I think this would make for an intresting entry that even the most knowlegible F1 fans don't know.

Love these Iceberg videos! If you do another, ive got a few suggestions for entries. 1. De Cesaris Health Issues. James Hunt would sometimes suggest that De Cesaris had a "twitch" that could be an underlying reason for some of his crashes. 2. Bravo F1. A mysterious team that was supposedly registered to join the 1994 F1 season along with Pacific and Simtek. They even appeared on the team sheat with 2 drivers "signed" for them. 3. "British Bias" 4. Formula E is the Riterement home of F1. This is a common sentiment due to the high ammount of Ex F1 drivers who joined the series in its earlier years. 5. Osella's lost podium. Larini almost scored a podium at Canada 89 in an Osella that spent most of the season failing to qualify, or even pre qualify. Also mention his P11 qualifying result at Aus 89. 6. The lost 1991 BMW entry. Simtek had designed a car for 91 to be used by BMW. They would not end up joining in 91. 7. Stroll's safety car curse. Its a bit strange how common it is for an SC to come out just a lap or 2 afted Stroll has pitted. 8. The Larrousse team and its carious criminal investors and partners. 9. FIA DSQ Larrousse from 1990 to benefit Legier due to connections between the 2 10. Frenzen offered yo pay his own money to fix the Jordan before he was sacked (this one I git from Wikipedia) 11. Dan Tiktum 12. McLaren at Turkey 2010 lying to Hamilton that Button had turned his Engine down to get him to do the same in an attempt to have Button overtake. Basically a more intellegent version of Fernando is Faster Than You. (Watch the 2010 season review for the radio transmissions) 13. De Cesaris podiums whilst having run out of fuel. He got 2 of these, the more famous at Monaco 82, the less famous at Spa 87, where he had to push his Brabham over the line to classify 3rd. 14. GP Masters

Vol. 4: Trulli was sabotaged. In 2004, Jarno Trulli outscored Fernando Alonso throughout the first half of the season and took Renault's only win in Monaco. But after the French GP, all of a sudden he lost all confidence in the car, had a huge shunt in Silverstone and was then way off the pace for the rest of the season until he was eventually fired. Coincidentally, he had cut ties with team boss Flavio Briatore as his personal manager just before his remarkable and sudden drop in form.

For Vol 4, Verstappen winning all 3 (so far) of his titles in "weird" ways: - Abu Dhabi '21 (self explanatory) - Japan '22 (half points- wait no, full points- wait no, half points, etc.) - Qatar Sprint '23 (Perez crashing out in a sprint, Verstappen clinches title in the middle of a race which isn't even the Grand Prix)

As the person who suggested the "it has to be this lap" one in the first place, I have to point out the possibility that it could be an auditory illusion - if you listen to the radio message, it could easily be "let's keep this up" and you hear whichever one you want to hear on each listen Edit after watching what he said about it: as if to support the audio illusion thing, I'm convinced it's "give it everything" but Peter interpreted it as "the overtake"

I watched this video just today, but again excellent piece of work on this channel, one of the best F1 content on KZbin, very informative, well researched, no clickbaits, fake informations or unfunny jokes. KEEP IT UP MY FRIEND! My two suggestions for the next iceberg: - Formula 1 drivers who drove in World Rally Championship (apart from obvious drivers like Kubica or Raikkonen there are many F1 drivers who took part in the WRC, to some extent you can also talk about times before the formation of the World Rally Championship, for example Graham Hill and Jim Clark drove on the RAC Rally in the 1960s) and, in comparison, WRC drivers who tested the F1 cars (AFAIK the closest to drove in an actual F1 Grand Prix was Sebastien Loeb in 2009) - Formula 1 in former Eastern Bloc/Iron Curtain countries. Specifically, during when the Iron Curtain still existed. We know that F1 came in 1986 to Hungary, but there were proposals of Grand Prix in Soviet Union or Poland, there were several drivers who drove the F1 car (apart from the obvious ones when the Iron Curtain was long gone), maybe they were people who worked in F1, also there was a thing called Soviet Formula 1 (and a few Soviet cars supposedly bulit to the F1 regulations but with obvious limits), the very good topic is also how (or if) the Formula 1 was showed in the press and media. I know that particurarly the second suggestion is very troublesome, but I think it is very interesting subject. I'm from Poland and I know some facts about F1 in Poland, so I can provide some help if neccesary. All the best for the future and keep working :D

Other suggestion: 1) Formula A (Between '46 and '48 Formula 1 was called Formula A, but it was changed in Formula 1 because meanwhile Formula B was also renamed Formula 2 and it has not to be confused with Formula 5000, a championship for Formula cars with a maximum of 5.0 l of displacement that was known as Formula A in North America) 2) Charles Leclerc Monaco curse 3) Ivan Capelli has no "capelli" (Ivan Capelli is an italian former F1 driver and the fun and interesting part is that capelli in italian means hair, but he's bald) 4) Voiturette (Before WW2, Formula 2 cars were called voiturette, wich means small car in french) 5) Mid engine cars in the '30s (Even if mid engine cars in F1 in the '50s were treated like novelty, actually in the Formula Gran Prix in the '30s there were already some mid engine cars) 6) Durex sponsorship

1) If it was still stay until today, we would have FIA Formula A World Championship, FIA Formula B Championship, FIA Formula C Championship, and multiple FIA Formula D Championships. 2) Agree, but still more better than Rubens Barrichello's Brazilian curse. It absolutely painful for Rubinho. 3) Very interesting. 4) I never heard that. 5) New knowledge for me. 6) Which company was that?

If Senna signed for Minardi, the horde of sponsors, talented designers and mechanics would have been eager to sign up as well! Realistically elevating Minardi to the top of the mid field or possibly a front runner if Newey signed too!

i suggest adding in future icebergs the australian grand prix that never was when in 2020 the australian grand prix was canceled due to covid and plans were made for the bend motorsport park to be used for the australian grand prix and it almost got a race in 2021 and in 2024 its still on the FIAs watchlist for a grand prix in the future

The halo has saved the life of Roman Grosjean, perhaps Fernando Alonso, and is a positive step in safety. As often happens a tragic death happens that leads to innovation like the halo. Safety is in a decent place in F1, major steps are made after tragedies such as Senna’s death, recently Jules Bianchi. A look at Roman Grosjean’a crash and one can marvel of the difference the halo made proving itself in an otherwise certain death incident. I was blown away as many of us to have seen what seemed like a miracle saving Romaine’s life for certain with the other car features while highlighting fire proof suit improvement opportunities with driver gloves.

An idea: Villeneuve x Pironi rivalry - The saddest, most depressing rivarly in this sport. It had a confusing start with none to blame, a rapid rise, a tragic end with a death, but that's not even the worst part. Shortly after the accident, when the race was stopped, Pironi was rushing to the accident scene. Sources say he stopped right at the scene, picked up Gilles' helmet and came back to the pits. Other sources say Sid Watkins stopped Pironi from going there and gave him Gilles' helmet, then he came back to the pits. There is a picture of Pironi going back to the pits with his and Gilles' helmet on his hands, with a grim face. I don't remember when exactly, but before this accident, Gilles promissed Pironi he would never talk to him ever again.. he successfully fulfilled his promise.

If I not wrong, Gilles say that to Pironi after the San Marino Grand Prix and before the Belgian Grand Prix when GV had that fatal accident in qualifying session.

The Earth Dreams Honda wasn't the first non sponsor car in 30 years. Tyrrell in the early 90's/Late 80's had 1 or 2 races with 0 sponsors and just the Tyrrell logo on the side. March also ran with 0 sponsors for a race or 2 in 92.

Was Surtees' nixing of BRM ground effect after his negative experience with Chapparal 2H in Can-Am? What an unlucky coincidence for those engineers to propose a design to the driver with a troubled whole-aerofoil car development in his past
