For a folding eBike, I would go light weight, perhaps the Lectric XP lite or the Qualisports Nemo. If you want more features, you could pick mostly anything from this video. If you're getting a bike rack for the car, I would also consider a full sized eBike. Full sized often fits better on a bike rack, and they are generally more pleasant to ride. Great reviews. #1 Portola is what the family needs. Half of the girls need an a 27" inseam, so that makes it almost impossible to find with quality builds. I can agree with the selection and will let you know after a ride. Thank you.

Be aware of Portola code error 25, it’s generated when applying hydraulic brake levers and the safety feature braking power cut-off after releasing the brake levers is not restoring neither PAS or throttle power when continuing pedaling. So being sometimes intermittent error, it can progress to permanent power lost regardless of whatever is done including by your local bike shop. It was very unfortunate that Portola left me powerless in the middle of your trip, but this happened to me, hopefully will not happen to you?
