As a long term BMW 5 series touring owner I am utterly mystified why bmw have discontinued the extremely useful USP of the split tail gate. It is an utterly dumb decision. The fact BMW can’t come up with a consistent answer why. Says it all, I hope they will bring it back asap

Yeah well, to be honest I used it, but not that often. Most of the time I use the kick to open

The consumption is 6,7l cause of xDrive and sticky Sporttires. Get RWD and some efficent tires, the consumption will be around 5,5l/100km

In order to judge consumption properly, you usually need several tankful trips with thousands of kilometers.

Nice review from Romania. Some comments & opinions. I also think in recent years BMW tourings look better than sedan models. The same goes with this G60/1. Some 10 15 years ago it was other way around. I think with G60 sedan some dimensions look strange and unbalanced. This G6x is in no way beautiful car. But still it's the best looking from current BMW model range. Some models are just UGLY! Tailgate with opening window was brilliant, I hate they are not doing that anymore. Instruments look way too busy. Traditional dials would be much easier to read. That should be available at least as an option. Temperature adjustment does not need to be with knobs, because in BMW your hardly ever need to touch them. Heating works like a dream in these cars. Only controls that must be easy to use is max defroster, rear window heater and seat heaters. Interior styling in dash, air vents and door panels look strange and busy compared to G30, which was just beautiful. Steering wheel should be round. This space age styling looks awful. Also this new style gear shift is strange. If you want more space for center console, why not move gearshift in steering wheel. Some cars have gear shifter in right hand steering column stick, but that moves wipers to left. That's not good, nobody wants Mercedes style. Leave wipers for right column, and gears into steering wheel.

It's such a downgrade over the G31. The lack of dual opening tail gate, the cheap load cover, lack of physical climate controlls, cheap leatherette instead of leather, hard scratchy plastic everywhere, no seat wallets, cheap plastic keys, and no 6 cylinder diesel. Might as well buy something from Asia and have a decent warranty.
