2024 BMW X1 iDrive 8 Vs. iDrive 9 overview

Thanks for the video. Do you know if idrive9 inX1 can have the real life view on the dashboard while driving? like the feature on new 7 and 5.

I have the Idrive 9 and the aug. reality is only on the center screen. But the apple maps from Carplay or Google maps form Android can extend to the dashboard.

Anyway the new Idrive 9 (Android) is really laggy (Everyting is very slow and system take very long to load, BMW map possition is about 6 seconds behind) and unstable (Carplay is loosing connection regularly in my car) comparing to Idrive 8 (Linux). They had to train and change many developers to switch to the new platform and may take some years to reach the same reliability of Linux platform. I'm really disappointed by BMW :( especially since they can't fix my Carplay connection problem and all their developers team focus is on the new Mini OS (new Mini Cooper and new Countryman).

@@andersonxiao7132 They don't tell anything about, and they pay a lot of vloggers to do positive reviews. Now I have about 3 months since I'm waiting for un update. I bought a phone support for the windshield and use the phone old school style :). and on the main car screen I keep the Climate menu :).

android always in update mode ... one reason I don't by Android phones.. .. my Android Tv updates and hangs perpetually all week

Personally I don’t think you can make an easy update from idrive 8 to 9. The hardware is different. Idrive 8 and 8.5 are Linux based and 9 is Android based.

@composimple364 Only 8 can go to 8.5 in some models.
