2024 BMW X3 M40i VS 2024 Audi SQ5!

My wife has a 2024 SQ5 and I have a 2023 X3 M40i and I can tell you based on car and driver reviews of both cars the M40i is 4.1 to 60 and the Audi is 5.1 and a full second faster is a huge difference. Audi is a more comfortable drive, but the M40i is more performance oriented. Also the remote start on the app only is stupid where the BMW you have the key fob or the app. Also the BMW has proximity lock and unlock which is a huge plus when you are carrying a toddler or anything else and need hands free lock/unlock. The only thing I would take off my wife’s SQ5 is the sport exhaust and her quilted Napa seats. Other than that the BMW excels in every category and it’s not even close.

I'll give you a seven reasons why the M40i is the better car. First, the Audi 3.0T has a timing chain on the rear of the engine and will cost you $16k+ to replace around 120k miles. My 16' started rattling at 85k miles so I sold it. Second, Audi has a rust issue with the rear subframe and mine had rust holes after five years with minimal winter driving. Just Google it. Third, the electronics are so much better with the BMW and better than most in the market. Fourth, Cargo and rear seat leg room. I don't understand how Audi misses the mark in this one given the wheel base is the same or close. Fifth, BMW's are pure driver enthusiast cars and drive so much better. I drove most cars in the class and the only one that drove better was the Porsche Macon but the price point was not the same. Lastly, the BMW/Toyota B58 is one of the best motors built today for reliability and performance and the ZF transmission has proven its reliability and is used by quite a few manufactures including Audi, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Chrysler and Land Rover to name a few. The SQ5 is nice but the M40i is a better bet for reliability, performance, cargo space and legroom. Also, just read the comments and you will know which one is preferred.

The problem with your "comparsion" is the fact that the SQ5 of '16 and the '24 reviewed here have completely different motors.... And if you're comparing electronics of a '16 with a '24 then you're comparing different generations of those as well.

The Audi is a smoother ride. Quieter too as I recall. I tested both along with a couple of other competitors two years ago. I made a mental note to get the Audi which I did a year ago.

I have a BMW M340 XDrive and while that's totally different... and wonderful... I STILL miss my Audi SQ5. Totally reliable, and just a smooth and all around lovely car for every day driving. I will probably go back to it once it's time to trade my car in a couple of years.

You did not mention anything about AWD systems on these cars... Quatro definitely much better system than xdrive, so that would be a huge deciding factor for people who drive in snow or mud....

I mentioned they both have awd…I own an X5 and an R8, both awd systems are great. One isn’t better than the other..

Well, when my dealer only has one model on the lot and this is the only time to make the video, I use what I have. I never said it was a trim to trim comparison though, so it’s just options that vary, driving experience will be the same..

It’s a $2K difference but don’t forget that the BMW includes maintenance, which can add up quickly.

I own a BMW, one oil change a year that I can do myself and that’s it…I also own an Audi! So easy to maintain and cheap..all cars require maintenance..

Audi is not laid back, Audi is classy and traditional. Audi SQ5 remains in its own style up to 2024 model. Audi's cargo door opens without interfering /cutting the tail lamp design. BMW even could not do this. Audi's design just beats over BMW.
