Really enjoyed watching this build can't believe how well that went together hope Airfix bring out the Operation Tidalwave B24 the raid on oil fields in Ploesti, Romania the one with the fully glazed nose, she looks great 👍

The way the nose section is built I think it is certain that there will be at least one and probably two further releases of different variants over the next 3-4 years.

Gary, your build is great - i don't know what i did with mine but the fuselage just would not close properly in the lower aft section. Drove me nuts! Your build is proof that it's my fault.

Stunning mate. What's your feeling on the clear molding of the aft turrets? I've noticed a few manufacturers going down that route

Looks a wonderful kit , Airfix are knocking it out of the box lately

Totally agree. I don't understand why airfix get so much stick from modellers. I think there is a lot of kit manufacturer snobbery. I love how they have evolved over the last 5-10 years.

Great build Airfix kits are getting better and better and the plastic just feels an d looks better what have Airfix done question for Airfix and you Gary
@garys_stuff7 ай бұрын
They have changed the formulation a bit I think. You have the basic polystyrene for it but then they add plasticisers and flow moderators and all kinds of stuff to get it to perform how they want it.

Absolutely cracking finished build Gary! Airfix might not be pumping out a myriad of kits like Eduard or ICM but the kits they do bring out are of great quality! As always I'm enjoying the videos immensely! 👍👍

Stunning build Gary! 👏👏👌 Love watching your build Video's and to have 2 on the B-24 is fantastic. Reminds me of some of your older builds such as the Buccaneer and Lancaster. As always you save us from making mistakes or help to solve problems by finding solutions and elevates you from many other modellers on YT. Thankyou Gary, always a pleasure. Can't wait for the Wokka! 😁👍 Bobby

Said in the comments of part 1 I would wait for a different version. After seeing the build video and then seeing Airfix was doing 20% off, and that I had Hobbypoints.... £14 later one is on the way to me. Wonderful build video. Thanks. Also ordered the mask set!

I have another question. What kind of OD Paint did You use?
@garys_stuff6 ай бұрын
On this occasion it was a Tamiya flat paint, but looks a bit dark to me.

Hello. Did You have any problems with applaying big yellow decals on tail?
@garys_stuff7 ай бұрын
No, none at all. I made sure I had used gloss varnish first, then used Microset to get the decal sitting in the right place and some Microsol to get it to sit into the panel lines. I did have to just slice a tiny bit of the decal near the rudder hinges, but after I had used the solutions above so it wasn't an issue.

Really looking forward to building one of these, and I won;t have to worry about the issues with the nose turret, becuase I am waiting for Airfix to bring out the earlier glass-nose version before I build it. The nose turret spoilt the looks for me

Great build out - I have to digress a little on the interior bombay - seeing the kit belly up and the additional parts increased the view angle, was glad to see that catwalk in place. Applying the paint mask is like surgery but certainly helps out. Gun torrents' are quite mechanical so scaling down to 1/72 is difficult - the hash marks on the top of the nose turret "PERSPEX" served two purposes, to help judge the "12:00 high" perception and help the gunner mange his deflection. I definitely appreciate your notification on the Gaahleri sale, I snapped the Mobius 0.3m up, hopefully your fans took advantage as well. Looking forward to Monday - Cheers Bob

Leading edges and vertical tail de icer boots are black rubber, not silver
@garys_stuff6 ай бұрын
I'm going by the instructions. Seems some crews removed the boots in theatre as they were easy to damage and caused more problems than they were worth.
@sos_legio_primus7 ай бұрын
I do not understand why all model kits tell you to paint machine guns in gun metal. They should be blued (black) to be historically accurate. I have never seen a bare metal MG. Especially in WW2 aircraft and tanks. Using gun metal makes them look like cheap toy guns. Same as in Bolt action. They show gun metal, metal parts on rifles. Despite the fact that 99.99% of these weapons had blued ( black) metal finish to help prevent rusting.
