You gave a very well thought out review. I feel I know the Goldstar now. I don't get riders' complaints about bikes vibrating. I've been riding since the 70's and I've always seen motorcycle magazine editors kvetching about bikes vibrating--didn't matter what bike, it seems. And, all bikes vibrate, some more some less. Don't they sell vibrators to help people relax? Anyway very nice review.

This is honestly a fantastic looking motorcycle, even better than my interceptor 650 but it is a hard purchase, as interceptor can literally do all the duties as far as Asia is concerned. The vibrations are just off putting when you are accustomed to a twin cylinder motor, which is creamy smooth. If this bike had Royal enfield engine with that styling, I would buy it in a heartbeat. Funny story, this bike will cost almost 1.5x (374557 peso) the price of interceptor 650 (2,49,705peso) in india as its a completely built unit sale.
@davidmacgregor51934 ай бұрын
The first thing I did with my BSA Gold Star 650 was to replace the rear shock adsorbers with a pair of fully shrouded Girling units, much better for our pot holed UK roads. The second thing I did was to replace those 'Micky Mouse' mirrors with Stadium stainless steel bar end mirrors, now I can see the road behind me instead of my elbows. The BSA is a riders machine, it handles very well and gives 72 miles from a gallon of petrol.

So you buy a brand new bike and change new parts with more new parts. I don’t see the sense in that. Just buy a well put together bike in the first place.

I bought the big thumper exactly 1 year ago, its got bags of character and I love it as anyone who has ridden a single will know exactly what i mean. Its not a twin or a triple or a four its a £6500 single and can only be compared to another single. Other comparisons are meaningless.

@09:10 no it's not built from ground up , many parts are clearly visible that are borrowed from Jawa , seat mirrors, tank etc. Even the awkward seating posture is the same. U seat straight but foot pegs are at the back. Nobody is making a single cylinder engine with more than 500 cc engine for the obvious reason - Vibration. This could have been a great start for BSA 😓 Mahindra makes some of the dumbest decisions that are unexplainable
@SurajSinghTomarArya10 ай бұрын
Umm...Ducati just released their 700cc single. How is the tank or seat borrowed from Jawa when they are brand new sculpt. Do you know how industrial process works? They have to create all new mould even if a centimeter of change is required. If this has brand new chasis then how can you complain about seating position? It's like saying all sports bike are copy of each other because you sit in similar position.

If they’re aiming to get back in the market, they should’ve been more considerate as to what the people would actually like in a modern day classic bike. Price is too high for a minimal difference from a underperformance bike in the past compared to today’s retro bikes.

@albertfraude10 ай бұрын
@@julianlora_ true. But the reason stated for making it a super vibey single is because they wanted to keep it true to the original. So it looks like they've failed in that regard by water cooling it. Personally, I'd have preferred if they water cooled it and made it a twin, because as stated, it would have been less viby, and less pricey. Really wonder who is going to be spending money on this? It just looks like a bad guy all around.
@razgriz3809 ай бұрын
@@albertfraudeor you could perhaps think outside the box and realise that they wanted to honour the original, by making it a single, but modern emissions regulations meant that it would of been all but impossible to achieve without water cooling. While emissions may not be a particular problem in Asia for eg, intending to sell this model on a broader worldwide market meant that certain criteria had to be addressed which dictated design choices.

Let's be honest, the BSA Gold Star 650 is not a BSA Gold Star, it is a crappy cheap third world imitation of a once great British marque, the only thing that is a BSA Gold Star is the name, not even the plastic tank badge reflects anything of the BSA heritage. Purely aimed at sad old wrinklies trying to jump on the nostalgia bandwagon. Cheap to buy yes, but try part exchanging for a new model, used values drop like a lead ballon in a bucket of water and most dealers of other makes just turn their backs........
