I was the red c6z in the video, probably the most traffic ive seen at TMP, could not get a single clean lap. Was testing a new bar setup, felt good, ended up with a 1:14 PB 2 days later to finish the season off. Great video!

I picked up Chris' old Z06. now looking at a 1LE myself... seems the Camaro's swan song is a real winner, would love to pick one up before they are gonezo.

You need to drive a ZLE, really want to know what that can do around local tracks. Looking forward to that review.

The Chevy PTM is set for the tires the car comes with. If you put sticker tires on it the most noticeable thing is it will cut engine power on corner exit until the steering straightens.

What are the odds the garmin shits the bed on one of the few laps you get with no traffic!? I feel your pain bro! On the day I set my 1:16.0 in my SS 1LE I went out for one more session trying to break in to the 15's and I put down a few really solid laps with no traffic that felt amazing. I must have got too excited and ejected the SD card before the PDR finished writing the file and the data got corrupted 😞. You put down an awesome lap even if you had to ballpark hand time it! I may have missed it but what tires were used on that car? CRS? Also was it stock suspension with the track alignment or did it have camber plates? 315 squared probably felt amazing! I agree that with the 285 on the front I definitely feel some understeer in certain corners. My next mod I'd like to do 305 or 315 squared and add some more camber. The stock suspension unfortunately doesn't allow for enough negative camber Also i know the owner might not have had the opportunity to spec the car but to spec a 1LE without the PDR is blasphemy! Such a huge feature to be missing out in when using it as a track car
@DriversPaddock
@DriversPaddock 14 күн бұрын
@andrewecowan It’s on CRS, pads and fluids with camber bolts. Otherwise stock. I actually think 305 might be better. Less rolling resistance and the car doesn’t need 315. Also, you can’t dial as much camber as there’s less inner clearance with 315’s as the bolts take the camber from the bottom. Regardless, it was a lot of fun. The owner didn’t spec the car. He wishes he didn’t have the heated and cooled seats or the sunroof - just added weight… and you’re right… PDR is a MUST!!! Hope to see you at the track sometime. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel.

Dude, you NEED to drive a ZL1/1LE. Just make sure it's dialed in for track camber.

1:16.6 is the lap time my endurance racing teammate did in his car. That time was good enough for the class win and he also happens to be a decade long time attack champion in one of our local series. Thanks for watching! Hope you enjoy your car for years to come.

Would you buy this over a supra or c7 grand sport ?
@dblm7128

Depends on what you are looking for obviously. btw - I have a 23 SS1LE. If you are looking to track your car a lot I would go with the SS1LE. Where I live you can get a 2021 model for ~$55k CAD which still would have the 5 year powertrain warranty meaning you will be covered if you pop the engine on track (chevy covers the car for track use as long as you use the recommended fluids and the engine is not modified). The C7 GS is also an excellent choice but you won't have the warranty anymore since 2019 is the last year they would have been built. There is no doubt it would be a more capable car, but considering the price delta (~$75 to 80k) and harder to find manual/Coupe spec, I decided against the C7 GS. I've been a passenger in a C7 GS on track and it has lots of grip, and is ~300 lbs ligher than the SS1LE. So it is more prefereble as a pure track toy than the SS1LE from that respect. But I have a feeling the SS1LE would definitely be a better daily driver if you can get past the visibility issues which took me only 2 days to get use to as long as you set your mirrors correctly. I looked at the Supra also closely before getting the SS1LE. Especially the newer Gen with the manual. But again, for heavier track duty (if that's what you are looking for), you might need to make modifications to the car (better cooling, more camber via camber plates, perhaps wider more sticky tires). Of course, you can tune the supra to the moon and get monster horsepower in a relatively cheap and easy manner, which is something you have to spend crazy amount of money on the Camaro if you want to do the same. Out of the box though, the SS1LE is the better track car since all you need to do is to change the brake fluid for track use (you can even dial in negative front and rear camber via the factor setting so you dont really even need to buy camber plates). It really needs nothing else. And as Jason mentioned in his video here, the Car's PTM mode will allow you to learn at your own pace to go faster with the car. This is something that the Supra doesnt offer, and I dont think you get track coverage with Toyota either (not sure though). Hope the above helps!

Great response! I will also add that if you are going to modify the car heavily… the supra has insane potential. The work of Spage, Verus, PhD (Jackie ding) and others have really developed an insane aftermarket catalog for that car. What I’m saying is the supra has a higher ceiling being lighter, having an engine that’s easily tunable to the moon and big aftermarket support. The SS1LE virtually needs nothing out of the box… maybe just camber bolts. It has no vices… no inherent issues you’re driving around… incredible. I have not driven a C7 yet. My friend has one but it’s heavily modified… it will be featured on the channel next year. My money… I would buy a SS1LE if I didn’t modify it… but a supra if I were going to spend money modifying. I’ll throw a curveball and also say the same about the BMW M2 and M2C. I considered all these cars myself before pulling the trigger on my personal M2C F87 Time Attack Build and the shop G87 M2 Time attack build. The tune ability of these cars makes them amazing time attack options. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel.

Tracks are so annoying sometimes, the whole thing seems like a waste of time. You get there and some guy in his moms corolla ia driving under the apeed limit... what are they even doing on a track. Go autocross if you arent going to drive hard.
