I just bought a 2024 V6 Camry XSE identical to yours. Main reason was to get the last V6 Camry. This is my 4th Camry V6. I had an 89, 97 and 2000. I've only had the car 3 weeks and I absolutely love it. It's so quiet to drive and has plenty of power from the 301 horsepower when you need it.

Thank you for sharing more content about the Toyota / Lexus V6, my current daily driver is a (purchased new) 2016 Lexus ES 350, best car I've ever had, going on 300,000 MI and I've just been keeping up with the oil changes and tune-ups and everything has been SOooo good. I'm currently having an issue with the radio and I'm going to have to replace it however I have no desire to purchase a new ES. When I get in the 2023 ES 350 even though it's a lot newer, I just feel like the es I have is built like a tank and to be honest there's really not that many differences to make me go out and drop another 50K. Anyways please enjoy your Lexus GX which is awesome absolutely phenomenal and congratulations on your new Toyota Camry V6. We spoke before about the new 2022 Lexus RX 350 Ultra Luxury and we think it's the BEST VEHICLE EVER.I purchased THE RXL in iridium silver with the caramel glazed seats ultra luxury , best everything ✓. We also have an old school 2008 Toyota Highlander with the V6, the best hauler and go through anything vehicle ever, whenever I'm doing anything with hauling or picking up landscaping or moving furniture oh my goodness it's a dream. Hey man I just happened to see this vid as KZbin suggested it to me. And boy am I glad it did! I have always been a Toyota fan. My 1st Japanese love was the Camry. My grandmother had a 1985 Camry lift back. And it was going to be mine after my high school graduation. But it got totaled when I was a sophomore. The commercial of Margaret & her v6 Camry was very memorable for me. I remember watching it on tv. So when I saw it on your vid I just burst into laughter! I think it was more-or-less because it reminded me of how old I am & how long ago that was! I've owned 2 Camrys that I loved. A 93 & 97. I was also surrounded by Toyotas that other family members owned. Two of my aunts had Celicas. Another aunt had a Paseo. A cousin that owned 3 different Cressidas & her husband had a Celica. Another cousin had a Cressida & one had a base Toyota pickup. Although I am a die hard Toyota fan, my 1st car ended up being an Accord, so I've got Toyota & Honda blood in my veins. I've owned 3 Accords & currently have 2 Acuras. I've come to the decision that my next car is going to be either an ES350 or Camry & it HAS to be packing a v6! I loved your vid & I'm definitely going to subscribe to your channel. I'll make sure to binge watch all of your prior vids as well! Happy Holidays to you & yours!
@joshjamescars11 ай бұрын
I love this so, so much! My Aunt also had an 85 Camry too, what an amazing first car that Camry would have been! And right!? That commercial is a gem. Meanwhile, your comment is also bringing back such memories of 90s Toyota for me. Cressidas, Paseos, Celicas. I think my parents neighbor mat actually still have their Cressida from the early 90s that I remember from my childhood. And funny enough, my first car was also a Honda, believe it or not! And I have come very close to buying a few Acuras over the years. If I could go back and buy the final generation of the TL, I would in a heartbeat. As for your next car, I would highly recommend either the ES it the Camry. If you don’t feel the need to have the luxury badge and appointments, you really just can’t go wrong with the pricing on the 2024 Camry. And thank you so much for subscribing, glad you enjoyed and welcome aboard!!!
@trancross704011 ай бұрын
@joshjamescars Thanks for the advice. I'm definitely torn between the two but I think the Camry's gonna be my pick. And definitely an XSE. Gotta have that pano roof & red interior! And it won't break the bank like the ES350 with the ultra luxury package. With the Acuras that I already have, they're enough luxury in my lineup. Sounds like you & have have somewhat similar history with the Toyota brand & we're both in Texas! I can tell by the way the freeway was made in the video lol. I'm definitely looking forward to future content in the upcoming year!

Great review. Love your honest, soft-spoken approach (a little rare on YT car reviews). I bought a 2009 Venza (first year offered) fully loaded with the 2GR-FE V6. We have owned dozens of Mercedes over our 40 years together and the Venza has been, without a doubt, the best car I've owned in my geezing lifetime. It has 240K on it and still averages 21-22mpg combined, burns ZERO oil between changes (I do most of the work on it myself), and has been an absolute workhorse for us. Looking seriously at the '23 V6 Camry pretty much as you spec'd it (always favored the Toyota "pearl" white exterior. Thanks again and enjoy!

Good choice. Just bought a new 2024 ES 350. Optioned out base trim. Not the color, trim or options I wanted but could not find a close to what I wanted Luxury trim build near me (talking 250 miles +). The dealers weren't helpful either. They were more interested in pushing cars on their lot. I agree with you on why you bought the last of the V6 models. I basically did the same for mostly the same reasons. I had a 2013 Avalon Limited w/tech pkg V6. Only 48000 miles. Every year I would look at the new ones to see the changes. Now that the Avalon is gone. I looked at the Crown. It's OK but I felt overpriced. I then looked at the Lexus models figuring Lexus is soon to drop the V6. Also the for the price of a Crown, your into lexus money. I keep my cars 10 + years and don't put that many miles on them. So I really didn't want a hybrid. Battery out of warrantee and value drop. Who wants an 11 year old hybrid? The Avalon was still worth decent money but hard for a new buyer to get financing for. Dealer had a good price on loaded base trim and gave me decent money on the trade in. It was hard to pass up for those reasons. Other than not getting the exact one I wanted, I do like the car, the great ride and V6. If my Avalon road as nice as this car I would have kept it. Anyway, I feel like this is the last year for the V6 ES 350.

This is the setup I'm considering. I have a 2023 XSE v4 red+black with most options and really regret not getting a V6. Like you, I don't care if I upgrade in just a year. It's not like the V6 is gonna be around next year. I'm going to go for it!
@joshjamescars9 ай бұрын
Go for it! The 4-cylinder is fine but the V6 is extraordinary and like you say, is going away. And just so you’re aware, it’s likely going away in the next few months. The 25 is expected to start productions in April since it’s just a major facelift and then hit dealers not long after, so act soon.

@@joshjamescars I'm aware that spring is it as they release next year's edition. Talking to sales now as we speak. Thanks though! I'd love to know what exact options you got. I'm old enough to remember that and other commercials "I love what you do for me...Toyota"....yeah.
@joshjamescars9 ай бұрын
$39K was the final sales price after $4K of discounts, and then here in Texas our sales tax is offset when you trade in a vehicle and since they gave us so much for the Prius we paid less than $1K in tax so I think our OTD price was around $41K. And the one we got has whichever package it is that rolls in everything you can get on an XSE V6. I want to say MSRP was originally $42,900 or something like that.

@sterlingsmith1969 Hard to say without knowing more about the build (a ton of accessories? Crap dealer fees, etc.? That sounds like a pretty good deal without any other context. Hello! Thank you! I completely understand what you mean, we definitely enjoy all the bells and whistles on the XSE. As for the IS, I fully support, but the thing I think you should think about is whether you’d be open to spending $10K more for the IS500. I know the IS300 is already pushing $50 so I’d imagine the 350 is comfortably in the 50s and I’ve seen IS500s around here in the low 60s and the V8 in there is legendary and will DEFINITELY be a collectible and hold its value in the years to come since the next IS is rumored to be EV-only. So… something to think about! ;)

@joshjamescars10 ай бұрын
That’s a really big difference, I’d think long and hard about it before you decide to replace what I’m assuming is an M5 with a Camry. The Camry is a great car and has a lot of attributes that only Toyota does, but if it hasn’t already been discontinued, you might want to look at a Kia Stinger. Plus it has a lift back for practicality. The Acura TLX Type S would also be a more engaging option. And I’d also seriously think about adding the Camry on alongside the M car and not replacing it… we’re at the point where you may never be able to get something like that again and so like I’ll always have the V8 GX and a daily driver alongside it.

That is interesting about the upgraded interior. My friend has a 2019 Camry I've driven a lot and the plastics and dash has the hard type of plastic. I wish I'd know they'd done these upgrades to the Camry. We went with a base ES (wanted the luxury package (real leather dual lumbar, thigh extensionk lateral dampers), but called all regional distributions and only base and UL were being ordered) because it's basically the same price as the limited Avalon (which makes it on par with the ES) at the time. It's a '22, now I wonder if they may have improved some of the panels in it as well. I don't recall the dash being quite like that and the panel above the glove box I've seen from others mars easy.
@joshjamescars9 ай бұрын
Just like you say about the Lexus, different trims of the same vehicle often have different materials. So the seats in our XSE (and XLE) are really nice thick leather but TRD and SE get SofTex. Like I say in the video, our XLE hybrid also had different materials inside as well. That said, your base ES’ NuLuxe will require a lot less care over the long run than the leather you would have gotten on the Ultra Luxury. I had a Volvo with beautiful, semi-aniline leather but after 3 years of babying it, it still had stretched, creased, and faded because that’s what it’s supposed to do. And after that I swore off semi-aniline leather in a car that I actually plan to drive on a regular basis.

Hello! It all comes down to what you want and need. If you like the way your V6 drives, there’s no replicating that with a Camry hybrid. However, if you think you can live with the hybrid drive in exchange for the much better fuel economy, then the new one is terrific and such a great value.

Hello! The TRD is essentially a base model car with NO features so that counts it out for us as we really enjoy the upgraded features like the head up display, full LED lighting, JBL stereo, leather seats, etc., none of which the TRD has. BUT the TRD will drive a little flatter and a little sharper due to the suspension changes from the XSE. I’m also not a fan of the TRD body kit things, it’s a little much for a Camry, IMO. But the engine is great regardless.

@joshjamescars11 ай бұрын
Hello! The Camry and ES drive nearly identically since it’s the same platform and same engine. The ES is quieter with nicer materials, of course, but the Camry actually has the edge in terms of speed because it’s ever so slightly lighter and smaller than the ES (the last two generations of ES were based on the Avalon). I also think the ES is slightly overpriced for what it is. I would highly recommend the Camry V6, I just love driving ours and there’s nothing like the direct and linear feel of a big displacement, naturally aspirated V6.

No, you can only get AWD on the base, non-hybrid 4-cylinder.

39kmsrp + taxes and paperwork? If so what it come out to total
@joshjamescars11 ай бұрын
Not entirely sure but because the Prius was worth so much we hardly paid any sales tax on the new car (in Texas you only pay sales tax on the difference between your trade and the new vehicle). I’d recommend you ask your dealer for hard numbers.

@@joshjamescars just purchased a 24 car v6 about a month ago , just trying to compare numbers on it since California tax & everything just high in general

Went for long term duration and reliability than a race car. Pretty happy with the choice
@joshjamescars11 ай бұрын
@davidjoslin2641 Ah I see! I’d estimate about $40K-$41K then out the door, but again keep in mind our numbers won’t really be “fair” because of our tax differential. And yes! You made a fantastic choice!

@davidjoslin2641 what was your out the door total? I'm in California too, and this video made me want to pull the trigger on 1 as well. My 2010 has 215k miles. Still runs fantastic, but I'm ready for an upgrade. Thx guys 😊

What is the first letter in the Vin ? Maybe a J ?

No, sadly! All Camrys and ES are made in Kentucky, though it is the oldest and best plant in North America!

This trend the car industry is taking in making cars like home appliances is going to result in a deep in new cars purchases. No divers cars for the middle class and poor .
@joshjamescars10 ай бұрын
I agree at the premise of your comment that cars are becoming appliances, but I disagree that there aren’t any affordable driver’s cars. The WRX, Civic SI, and GR Corolla are three terrific affordable sedans around the $40K mark. What we’re really missing are great V6 sedans like this Camry but I don’t know if I’d consider this truly a driver’s car.
@altisamuels869410 ай бұрын
@@joshjamescars Sadly to say this but all those cars mentioned are going to come up against environmental laws in places like California soon, like Gas Leaf Blowers, hope I'm going to be proven wrong, and yes that V6 Camry looks like a driver's car.

1:45 I get what your going for but who tf puts salt in chocolate milk
@joshjamescars11 ай бұрын
Go google it. Salt makes chocolate blossom like adding instant coffee does with chocolate in baking. Like chocolates with sea salt? Same idea. The salt offsets the sweetness and actually enhances it because of the contrast.

They absolutely are but still a bargain considering the Tacoma is likely to top out in the mid-60s now.

@joshjamescars insane. Bought a brand new pick up truck with leather, heated seats, etc everything but a sunroof which I don't even need for just under $37k

40k for a car isn’t “affordable.”
@joshjamescars3 ай бұрын
Relative to the price of a new vehicle today (the average price of a which is around $50K) and the median income in the US, for a fully loaded nice to drive vehicle, this is a good value.
@iishyxvietxboyii13 ай бұрын
@@joshjamescars Yes, good value not affordable. And the average is 50k because USA buyers tend to buy more SUV.
@joshjamescars3 ай бұрын
I suppose affordable will have to be a matter of personal opinion, then. My opinion is that it is affordable, but you don’t need to agree with it. And regardless of why the average is what it is, it is $50K and that’s the statistical bar below or above which each car is going to fall.
