Acceleration between fun and alarming… The perfect place
@stevejordan7275Ай бұрын
Back in the early '90s, my dad took me to a Chevy dealer so we could take a 'vette for a walk, and I thought he was going to go with the salesman. Not only did he take me instead, he put me in the left seat. I wasn't sure what I was going to do; I didn't have *any* experience behind the wheel of a sports car. We made an easy right out of the dealership, and he directed me down the street to the first intersection (Thousand Oaks at Westlake) where he told me to make a left turn...which would take us uphill. I was the first car at the intersection, so when the left turn light went green and I started into turn, he said, "Stand on it." I goggled at him. "What?!" *"Stand on it!"* Though I had never done anything like this before, I firewalled the throttle, and the car *roared.* Suddenly we were rocketing up the hill, accelerating at a rate I had never imagined. I had that moment of uncertainty when it felt like the car was about to *run right out from under me,* though I remained firmly in the cockpit thanks to...well...the seat. There was no one else on the road at the moment, so I continued to accelerate to about 80 before he told me to let it coast; we didn't catch any air at the top of the hill, made a couple more left turns and went back to the dealer, where he proceeded to chew me out in front of the salesman for my grades. I saw this for what it was; I was in two honors societies, and consistently on the Dean's List, obviously this was to get us out of a sales pitch. I played my part of the irritated slacker and we went back home. I had not really shared my dad's love for cars until then. But that was my "comin' to Jesus" moment. Miss you, dad. 😞

Say what you want abiut the styling but the C8 in all forms has knocked it out the park based on performance
@carlos640302 ай бұрын
For me, THIS would be the C8 Corvette to buy. It has the Z06 body but has the better sounding exhaust note from the traditional push rod, cross-plane crank V-8 engine found in the Stingray. With a stripped down Z06 body, now a better looking wing can be added like the one from the ZR-1, ground effects, front splitter and rear diffuser. There are so many quality aftermarket trim pieces to visually enhance this car. Also, different wheels are a definite must have.
@smallbutdeadly9312 ай бұрын
I still prefer the C7 since you can still get those with a manual transmission

@@smallbutdeadly931 I live both the C6, C7 and C8 Z06. But if I had a choice of just one, I would take the C8 Z06. Don't really care that it has not stick shift.

Sad that Honda created a hybrid super car almost 10 years ago that’s very similar to this, but everyone hated it. Today, everyone is making one.
@sjhudon3862 ай бұрын
I never understood that. The NSX is an amazing car.
@Retired_Life_12 ай бұрын
The last iteration of the NSX (which ended in 2022) was an excellent car. The issue was pricing and technical issues. The first year (2017) of the last generation hybrid NXS started at $157k as compared to the C7 corvette of the same year started at $57k. Even the new generation C8s started at only $60k in 2020. The 2024 E-Ray starts at $106k which is still an affordable performance bargain. The 2022 (final year) NXS started at $172k. Pricing, Pricing, Pricing!

The car should be $20k more than the base C8. Because ~$5k less than the Z06 just makes the Z06 look like a better deal. Currently the E-Ray starting price is $104.9k and the Z06 is $110.1k.

Cars that stir the soul get the most views on this channel. A six-figure car is aspirational for most.
@RobertMacCreadyАй бұрын
Might just be the best Corvette buy ever. You get Carbon Ceramic Brakes (they cost $8,500 on the Z06), for 2025 the Gas Guzzler Tax is $3,000 (the E-ray does NOT have a Gas Guzzler tax), AND the Eray's entry level car is $5,000 less. SO, that comes out to a HUGE $16,500 savings for a car that's quicker than the Z06 (according to GM).
