Some very interesting choices. Looking forward to see how they work out for you. 😊

Pulling from things that need dividing in your garden is a great strategy! I have a gravel bed and last year I did a big clean out of everything that got massive in the poor conditions (garden sage, catmint, and lilies) and potted up the scraps in some potting soil from the previous year, and they all did amazing with barely any watering (other than rain). Another strategy to consider might be looking at what plants are native to your area, especially since it sounds like your area has historical droughts, since that would translate into drought tolerance in a artificial setting, too. My area isn't prone to droughts more than a couple months long in most years, but I've had success growing native grasses and bushes in pots.

I didn’t realize you can grow lilies in a gravel garden. That’s fantastic! I’ll have to try that out. What kind of lilies do well in that type of soil? Thank you for your recommendation on planting native grasses and bushes. I shall look into those ones as well!

@@Lynismael Yeah! I don't remember the name since I lost the tag a few years ago, but they're a hybrid orange lily that I got from Home Depot as a dormant bulb.

@@jossgreen9318 that’s awesome! I’ll keep an eye out for lily bulbs when they come out. Thanks for the tip!

Nice choices ! I would suggest agapanthus, you would have to overwinter in the garage, but they are very drought and heat tolerant, and loved by bees and hummingbirds.Makes a very good cut flower too.

Oh yes, Agapanthus! I’ve been on the lookout for that in a while now. I’m hoping Coloured Paradise will have them again this year. I should have bought some when they were on sale last summer, but I was trying to be good and stick with my “budget” 😅
