Good coverage as usual, but very often, when its a Nordic disc brand, Jomez does not show what disc is used. In this example: Is not Orums discs from Westside known? He has been playing them for years - why cant we see what discs he is throwing?

Iowa is definitely one of the nicest courses played during the year, but the one hole I don't care for is #9. If you could redesign a hole on this course (if any) what hole would you change?

As a Des Moines native, and a casual player myself, the two I dislike the most are #5 and #18, as I'm too inconsistent of a player to reliably *not* lose my disc in the pond, and before it was redesigned for this tournament, #18 was almost nearly a quarter mile - too long for my noodle arms. But it's always super cool to see the pros play at a course local to me! Iowa has a lot of rolling hills and forest that make for great courses and parks.

I understand what you mean, but i prefer to experience watching the round without any knowledge of who’s leading or good/bad shots or anything later in the round. Nobody’s being crowned champ yet, but the experience as a whole is an important part of the story being told. A good example was when niklas won, i knew nothing going in to every round and I enjoyed watching the whole story much because i didnt know anything before each round.

Definitely, it’s super close and since players are the officials it will likely never be called. Same with jump putts, most of them are technically foot faults because everyone that does it is in the air and in front of their marker before releasing the disc 90% of the time

I was thinking the same thing. As a lefty I was thinking how much easier that would be for me because the left side is so wide open to come in with a basic hyzer, and then all the righties start challenging all those branches hanging out over the water. Makes no sense to me.

anhyzer: outside edge of the disc is tilted upward at the moment of release. Flipping, hyzer-flipping or turning when released flat or hyzer, cannot become anhyzer. Hearing the fundamental discgolf terms being used incorrectly… 😢

I think the jomez guys just talk about the same thing differently. They will differentiate between "anhyzer release" and "get it on anhyzer" for something that flips up during the flight and goes slightly past flat.

I think "hyzered out" is a more common term for "faded". I have rarely heard somebody say their disc faded. I read the glossary of terms on the innova site. It also says a "cut roller" can't come back. I have always understood a cut roller to be a roller that cuts significantly when it lands. I would never have guessed that technically, if it cuts then say hits a rock, and rolls onto the top, that is not a "cut roller".

This is an interesting topic to me. I found that udisc references the concept of "hyzer" being used colloquially to reference flight, rather than just angle of release. This caused them to decide to use the colloquial term in some sections of their descriptions.

Some folk insist that the terms refer to the release angle specifically. I find it somewhat redundant as for example your terminology catches every case unambiguosly. To add, Flex = anhyzer start, hyzer finish. Flip up = hyzer flip to just flat with decent fade.

I'm noticing that the ranking of each player on the card is now listed as their placement at the time, even when other players have played more holes than them; rather than before when it was where they place after every player had the same amount of holes. Was this done on purpose? Or a change with their score tracking? It feels like it's misleading when lead player starts the round at "T18." Maybe I missed when/why the score tracking system changed.

I'm a simple man, I don't see Buhr as a leader after one round and I'll click. He's a nice guy, but almost too good. Nearly guaranteed win if he's in the top 4 of the current round.

It's definitely more fun to see a battle than a run away, but I like watching Buhr. All the funny videos he and Alden and crew made were so great. I also like thinking about what's going through his head. Every tournament it feels like he can either play well or put down some pavement on the path to greatness. People seem to think the field is too good and there will never be another dominant player like McBeth and Wysocki, but AB and Buhr still have a chance if they can lock in.
