Could not believe it seeing Gannon catching Ricky in this front 9, but he is truly the grim reaper of the 2024 season and he came to collect one more time. Well I’d say that is gonna light a motivational fire under Ricky’s offseason and he’ll come back next season more motivated than ever. Truest competitor I’ve ever seen. No doubt you're right, Ricky will train hard. But he showed he can play better than anyone. I actually think he just needs to train as usual, take care of his body, and just relax with it. He has all the tools, he just played a subpar round, when he's having fun he's as good as there is.

He's studied every detail and thrown every shot and analyzed every angle to such minute detail, he doesn't listen to anybody else's opinion on disc golf unless they've earned his respect. He's repeatedly demonstrated his mastery this season, and has the hardware to back up that confidence. It's not arrogant to say he's the best to ever do it at this point. Whether or not he ends up the GOAT is still up for debate, but at the present moment, nobody has ever played on this level this consistently for an entire season. It's like Calvin's last season, except if Calvin had won everything instead of finishing top 3. The thing that demonstrates the difference is that he never trash talks his competitors, even after a really intense psychological battle like today. An arrogant person blames their mistakes on others, but when Gannon collapsed a couple of times last year, he only ever turned that anger inwards, and even when he kept losing strokes to spit-outs earlier this season, he commented on the baskets, but also adjusted his putting stroke throughout the season to get fewer spit outs. Confident people hold themselves accountable, and he does. If he stays healthy, he could be dominating these tournaments for a really long time.

As great as Gannon played and put pressure on Ricky, it was unfortunately more of a Ricky “choke”. I think he knows it too. Trying to make that putt on 6, why? Gannon wasn’t gaining a stroke there. Just needed to shoot a -5 to fend Gannon off. Again, I think Ricky knows it and that’s why he was so emotional. But, to see him with that many unforced errors was crazy. I count on Ricky to end his no Major streak next year.
