I played against that hoboken team Simms was mentioning. We played Hoboken in the 1st round of the playoffs (Sparta NJ). We would have played Simm’s team Ramapo if we were to win but Hoboken proved to be way too strong. That All state Rb/MLB for Hoboken that Simms mentioned was Tyrell Dortch who went on to play for Michigan State.

Agreed on Quinyon as CB1, but Chris - you need someone to do more research on these players or actively evaluate what scheme they were in for context. Toledo's corners weren't allowed to "play it how they like to" . He was their field-side corner, which is why he was almost always playing off and they ran a lot of quarters, which does play out like man a lot of times. He actually only played man on about 30% of snaps according to PFF. I disagree a lot of times with they're numbers, because boundary corners still get tagged as having played "zone" even though they're tagged with MEG calls on the backside a lot of times - so they're playing man - but looking at Quinyon, he'd literally line up between numbers 1 and 2 to the field at times, in part because he was so good at anticipating and positioning himself according to the route-combinations. Also, the pro day bump on 40s is just flat-out wrong. Agents nowadays tell their guys to run in Indy because of how it being regularly described as a "fast track" with the new turf they installed a couple of years ago.

Sainristil is an amazing slot guy. He's small but he's a absolute dog. He's a leader and playmaker. Always steps up in clutch situations. He's just a football player. He will be an elite slot guy. Noway he ever plays the boundaries, but he's tenacious and quick. You're right about the Alabama guys they are beatable athletically but damn they have instincts and tackling skills. Koolaid is always where he should be, that being said he's not gonna scare an NFL WR in one on one coverage. I think he's a great zone corner, looking at the QB. I'm personally not excited about this class. Last year was way better than this year imo. I didn't see Melton or James play at all. Love Wiggins but damn he's skinny.

Simms just has a type at CB. He want someone taller 6’-6’4” who is fast 4.2-4.3 who plays man coverage and is a hyper aggressive tackler. Players who are: below 6’, run 4.4 or slower, or play a lot of zone he simply doesn’t value as much. What that often means in nickel CBs get devalued by him. I remember a few years back how insanely high he was on Caleb Farley who the Titans drafted. He had an injury history then and has been super injury prone since then playing 12 games in 3 years and in total recording 14 tackles and 1 pbu. I think it’s fine that he prefers what he prefers. Realistically though he should probably split it into top 5 CBs and top 5 nickels though

@B32-h8u8 ай бұрын
I've been convinced for years that Simms doesn't watch that much tape on these prospects, I think when it comes to receivers and corners especially he just looks at 40 times. He's even admitted he doesn't start watching properly until around the combine so there's no way he doesn't get influenced by testing. All the other draft analysts like DJ and Lance Zierlein watch tape all year round.
