Enjoyable first ride review - and I agree with pretty much everything you said. It is a lovely thing - but with the Audi paint, off road pack, heated grips and spots plus installation (never been charged installation for options before) close to £17.5K - which is a lot compared to the Triumph 900 Rally Pro or the GS900 but to me, and it is a personal thing, it is much more special (and looks so much better). Obviously with racks, luggage, Bluetooth, sat nav mounts etc as you say could have cost a lot more. The Rally was announced when my bike was on order and the dealer would have let me change to that but I stuck with the “base” model (but slightly peeved I now have a “base model”). Whilst it looked great, the Rally seat was just too high for me and in similar trim to mine £3K more. Also I’d spent a day and a half on the standard bike and loved it so why change!

Please do not compare the DX to triumph with front rake angle that is unstable off road - this is eliminating triumph completely.

Great vid. Thanks 👍 Lovely for riding motorbikes and cycling along Edgehill. Kineton has a decent cafe too (Gilks).

I put over 13k miles on my DesertX in the 1st year of ownership. Absolutely STELLAR motorcycle. I have the full race Termignoni titanium exhaust and Evo tune. 😂

Amazing review as always! She looks srunning design-wise. Good to know about the extras. Its inevitable that the price will steeply increase, but i look at it as an investment 😍

Charly Sinewan on KZbin is bashing around South America with one of these - an upgrade from the BMW F800GS. Great to see how it fares in the wild getting dropped a few times a week and the effort involved in picking it up again.

Double headlights is what makes a motorcycle beautiful. It's astonishing to me that only a couple motorcycles have accidentally received dual headlights. There are too many horrendously ugly single headlight bikes in 2024.

When pictures from the launch of the Cagiva Elefant (sp?) appeared in mcn I thought the same as when the suzi DR big and years before that the GS800 launched - utterly ridiculous. Maybe the thing for crossing the Sahara to Dakar. But ugly and - why would you? Obviously like 4 wheeled SUVs there is a big market for these. But those, and this parts bin Ducati, worse than anything else including 50cc mopeds in my desirability league
