2024 Early Utah Morel Mushrooms - And Lots of Them!!

This adventure shares my first morel hunt and finds of the season. I found baby morel mushrooms in one of my low elevation locations, and I document their growth over a few days. When asking for help with identification, remember to ...
1. Take a close up picture of the cap
2. Take a close up picture under the cap
3. Also of the stem and the base of the mushroom.
4. Mushrooms of Utah may ask you to take a spore print, so be prepared to do that if asked

Yeah, but it is all good. They only took a couple of the biggest ones. I was a little more put off that they tossed the rocks around without really being carefull. But There are plenty more coming!!

There are some great areas in Sanpete!! Yes, your area is a little behind ours. I bet they are popping in your low elevation areas now. There are some great Black morel areas in Sanpete County.

Shandon, yeah a little frustrating, but at least they just took a couple of the biggest ones and left the rest. I can't complain too hard I guess. Those were awesome sturgeon you caught a couple weeks back. That looked like so much fun!!

@@UtahMushroomHunter Sturgeon are a blast! After fighting 2 you get pretty sore😂. Just got back and found 4 more oysters trees/stumps. Watered one and will harvest it in a couple of days

@@shandonbradfordoutdoors Nice, yeah those oyster mushrooms are fantastic!! I am glad you found some!! Yeah, I have never fought a sturgeon before. I grew up not far from the Columbia river in Washington State, but was just a kid back then and didn't know anyone who knew how to catch them. I miss living in that area.

Ive been looking but had no luck, I think im looking in the right spot but wonder if you’ve got any pointers? I have been looking up Payson canyon, near the river. I find lots of glacier Lily’s, and snake grass, and lots of oak trees. Am I in the right spot? Maybe I’m just too high too early? I looked today (4/17/24) around 5,200 elevation with no luck

I am working on a video that should help a ton. But just watching my videos, you will learn a ton to help you find them!! You might be a little high right now, but they should be at that elevation soon.
