Great video,, I'm so looking forward to what you do in 2025,, From your channel I've learned one thing of joy, and one thing of sadness,,, Firstly,, I now just use 600DMT followed by 1 micron diamond emulsion, (on balsa or bass),, on absolutely everything, - totally awesome,, And secondly,, I'm sad that it's so risky to try and buy any of those fantastic custom knives, because they'll probably get confiscated by our customs "officials" (not to mention the excessive import duty /tax we have to pay the "government",,)!!! Ive been buying Hogue knives the last couple of months. The extrak in M4 and magnacut. Its thin and sharp the sheaths just stink. Spyderco has also seen a few dollars this year. K390 dragonfly and a Native chief in magnacut. Im a cardboard and kitchen knife kinda guy. Its just an interest. I love being outdoors especially now that im an old man.

Soft 1095 is a pita to sharpen 😓 I think it is the only steel I have had a problem getting sharp. Too bad I have several soft 1095 knives 😅

Aside from that, you can still do videos the way you want to do them. Getting monetized does not mean you have to kiss butt. You don't owe anybody anything. You can still have your own opinions. I wonder if your testing is why Benchmade is now running their steels north of 60 HRC instead of the 58-60 they used to be. I won't let anyone back the channel whose gear I haven't tested and trusted. Evidence will always win out over the fudds. The gun community and the knife community would do well to banish the fudds by adopting your approach. Granted, the powers that be aren’t going to like it,and it can get tricky, but it’s worth it for the betterment of the hobby. Erica, I think your messages need to be repeated over and over again. The reason I'm saying this is there are new enthusiasts coming into the world of knives every day. I have fostered 6 newbies this year alone. My daughters fiance, my granddaughters, a couple of young men that are coming of age, graduating high school, and next week, I'll be gifting a knife to an old colleagues youngest son. @ericasedc Okay, so recently I bought one of my grail knives and it just came in. Its the Spartan Harsey Difensa, and man is it awesome. BUT I thought I looked before ordering but apparently I messed up. It was supposed to be Magnacut (my dream version) but I ended up with the S45VN version. I will admit I only start my blade collecting about 6 months ago so I am still learning about all of the different sorts of steels and which ones are best for for which task. I'd be using mine primarily as a hunting/bushcraft knife As of now I live in Kansas so far now rusting isn't a major concern, that said I will be moving closer to the coast for work in the next year or two. My question would be, in your personal opinion, is it worth going through the process of sending it back and waiting until they have the magnacut in stock? Or is S45VN close enough that the differences between the two is negligible. Anyone with an opinion I'd love y'alls input! Cheers!!

And I do get the logic, if it was good enough for Canadian Special Forces it should survive anything I throw at it lmao. Good hardening requires more effort and more effort costs more money. That's what it's all about in the end. If only some manufacturers would admit this, but no, they just make up PR stories about why the steel in their knives is so soft.

I don’t understand the hate on Benchmade’s prices while everyone gives Spyderco a pass. They’re just as expensive for the materials used. In 2024 Spyderco is not the bargain they once were & haven’t been for the past several years.
