A superb win at Zandvoort for McLaren-Mercedes' Lando Norris brings the points he DIDN'T score in Hungary into greater focus: Red Bull-Honda's Max Verstappen finished a "damage-limiting" P2 in the Dutch GP but it's clear now that we have a championship battle on our hands - and every point will count as the season heads into the fall (as Lando underlined today when, against all odds, he set fastest race lap on his final tour, despite his hard Pirellis at that time being 44 laps old). Charles Leclerc finished an excellent third for Ferrari, holding off a major challenge from McLaren-Mercedes' Oscar Piastri; Carlos Sainz drove beautifully for Ferrari to finish P5; and Sergio Perez was sixth in the other Red Bull-Honda. It was a bad day for the factory Mercedes team, with George Russell and Sir Lewis Hamilton finishing P7/P8. In this video Peter Windsor details Lando's outstanding drive and analyses the one part of the race that the McLaren driver didn't win - the start.

Our 2024 Zandvoort trilogy is dedicated to the memory of our friend Peter. "I'll never forget that Sunday in August, 1995," writes Osman of OEM Exclusive. "That long buffet lunch at the Bugis Street Cafe. We watched Michael make the others look ordinary as he clawed his way back from 16th on the grid."
