I have driven mine at -27C in Saskatchewan and my commute is 40kms. In those temps at 100-110 km/h the range was close to 1km to 1% of battery consumed. I used 36% of the battery in that 40km commute with the heat set on high. The heater performance at -21C and colder starts to diminish significantly, even when set on high, but the heated seats are like lava lol! They perform perfectly in the cold; a heated steering wheel would be nice

I noticed that, use AC when it's under -10 to kill the cold and humidity, espacially if you park outside overnight, turn on the heater 5-10min later. you'll save energy. AC doesn't use that much power compare to heater. My EV doesn't have pre-heat system while plug in by the way... my comment could not make sense if your car has that option

I have a 2013 500e (which, of course, is significantly different from the current model) and am also a motorcyclist who rides year round. I have a cigarette lighter adapter for the electric jacket I wear on the motorcycle and use the jacket so I don't have to run the car's heat. It makes a big difference and makes the old 500e functional in winter. I would otherwise need to just drive it without heat even on cold days (we see as low as -18C on rare occasions, currently it's -15).

I drive a small EV with a 16 kWh battery. I won't lie - when that turtle icon shows up because it's too cold or I didn't plan my trip properly, I get anxious right away. Even though I know I can probably still drive another 5-10 km in town if I'm very gentle and on a flat surface, it’s nerve-wracking. I've learned the hard way with a towing bill that you should charge your EV whenever you can, not just when you need to! XD I still love my car, but for long distances, I’d recommend a gasoline or hybrid car.

4:10 and it must be said a reason why the 500e is so expensive is because it's built along side Maseratis in Turin, instead of eastern Europe as the ice 500 and Panda did. A big disgrace imho is how Stellantis/FCA is squandering everything that theyre reverse engineering an electric car to accomodate a 12v mild hybrid but they neglect think to create a medium sized battery, a PHEV or adapt the Panda into the 500e considering that the 500 is derived from the Panda. Instead of a dynamite EV panda they're using a different global platform for the new Panda that's a segment larger than the ice Panda which faces the axe in 2026.
