My front drive 2017 Edge with 2.0 four cylinder turbo engine that is rated to tow 2,000 lbs. I moved from NC to Florida and did most of it with five trips pulling a trailer grossed out to around 4,000 lbs. Ran it 65 mph for eight hour runs. It has 124,000 on it and burns half qt. Oil between 3,000 mile changes. Transmission fluid changed at 70,000. We love it and compared to anything GM has in its class it still looks as good or better. I’m going to keep it. When the engine goes I’ll spend way less than something new for a new engine and keep on going.

On two different trips in 2022 my wife and I rented Explorers. The first one has a broken A/C. Inexcusable on a nearly new car. The second won had a jerking transmission. However, last December we rented a Ford Edge ST Line with that same 2.0 turbo 4. Absolutely a blast to drive, quiet and well put together. So what does Ford do? Instead of keeping the model and modernizing the vehicle they discontinue the vehicle. Edge has name recognition that people know, much like Taurus which is another model Ford completely fumbled. So instead of modernizing brands people know they create new models no one’s ever heard of and then are completely baffled why said new models don’t sell. It's probably a good thing the Edge is getting discontinued. Ford has more than enough SUVs in their lineup and trimming one or two won't devastate the brand in any way. I’ve had excellent luck out of Eccoboost engines on my second 2.7 F150 and they’ve been flawless, great torque and if your not into the turbos pretty good fuel economy, not saying you can’t get roughly the same MPG’s out of the 5.0, but the way they sound I couldn’t drive it easily with that V8 sound. Sure I get it, $40+k for a dated looking American SUV is scandalously insain considering the competition from the Japanese and Korean auto manufacturers but a good taken cared of used one is definitely a bargain and a great reliable safe vehicle and most owners agree. The problem has always been the price for what you get for those obtuse buyers who buy these vehicles new. Ford made a idiotic decision making the center screen vertical and its no wonder why it is disappearing from their newer vehicles that once had one, namely the 2025 Ford Explorer. My advice is if you like Ford products or this Edge then you'll like the luxury variant the Lincoln Nautilus. Toyota, VW, Hyundai/Kia all sell more vehicles than GM and Ford. Sorry, sad, lame vehicles like the Edge are the reason.

Agree, minus pickup trucks it is very reminiscent of the 1970s when the American makers got lazy and Japan came in and took advantage. This time Korea is hopping in on it too

everything about this car just looks dated and low quality for its price. there's a ton of much, MUCH better entries for the same price or cheaper, no wonder they're discontinuing it. looks over a decade old but it's a 2024? weird

Yeah I think if this was $30k it’d be a steal, but at $40k so many better options!

Who the HELL cares whether my neighbors car looks like mine?? It serves a “Function” adequately in my life. This guy probably bitches because his neighbor has a better lookin lawnmower. EGO will define your intelligence quickly. Ford stops making the EDGE because the younger generation likes the Bronco better. Car models have a limited lifespan, so many disappear after time. NOW:The Edge has the most advanced electronics and media internet software out here at that size vehicle. BTW-you can get an auto-lift tailgate too!! It’s so good and advanced that Toyota has signed on with the company who develops it to catch up! The only possible problem with the Edge is the engine. Ford has lost all it good motor designers and engine builders to someone else. They used to build a great motor, but because of the Feds insisting we get 1000 miles per gallon, small engines across the entire industry have suffered!! Mazda made a great engine for awhile. So did Mercedes, GM, Nissan, Kia, etc. Not anymore!!! The only ones that last however are the Toyotas, and Hondas. But, with them you can’t get the electronics/wi-fi friendly quality, or you have to step down into a car that is so hard to get into with horribly uncomfortable narrow cheap seating that is typical in most cars. Most people don’t know this: FORD spent millions designing a seat that is ergonomically comfortable for almost every human being. I don’t care what a car looks like as long as I can drive long distances without my back hurting, utilize all my Bluetooth gadgets, have the BEST A/C for cars, and better handling properties. I’ll miss the Edge!! It, like the Fusion were winners for Ford, but the electric truck debacle has cost them billions. They can only make so many models. The feds control that too, whether you realize it or not!

The Ford Edge only has one problem... OTHER CAR MANUFACTURERS EXIST. I suppose in a vacuum with no comparisons, you could like this car... but what you get for the price pales in comparison to damn near any other car company (not counting GM of course)... simply put, the offerings from Toyota, Mazda, Honda, Hyundai, KIA, Subaru... just about any other manufacturer can make you a MUCH nicer car for same or far less than an Edge... this is why its being killed off... it's just not competitive with the competition... it only appeals to people who don't actually shop and compare... "My Dad always bought a Ford, so I keep the family tradition"... thats about the only kind of customer who would buy this car... someone oblivious to other manufacturers existing.

Great point, thankfully less and less people are staying brand loyal as they’re waking up to better options now.
