I just bought the 2024 Escape hybrid in Platinum trim. I literally looked at EVERY small suv and none or them felt comfortable to me. I was about to buy the Rav 4 when Found this one and fell in love with how pretty it is inside and out, and the comfort of the seats. I can sit high and see everything - the most comfortable seats next to the Toyota Venza. It was expensive, but so were others and I couldn't see spending so much on a car that I didn't like. This has plenty of backseat room (the seats actually move forward and back) while still staying small enough to be easily managed. Mine parks itself - which I admit is pretty scary to let it go and watch it happen, and it has every safety feature I could even imagine. I tried tested the collision avoidance by trying to back into my brother but the car stopped itself 2 feet away. I am praying that it is as reliable as it is pretty.

Hola !

I find myself watching reviews for cars I’m not even interested in because you two are so compelling. I really appreciate how you don’t tell anyone “to buy” or “not to buy”, you provide pro’s and con’s and that’s what’s so valuable. Just because I car does or doesn’t come AWD, doesn’t make it bad or good, just may not be an appropriate vehicle for someone and that’s why I keep watching, even though I’m not looking! Well done, keep it up.

A few years ago, I bought a RAV4 for my wife, choosing a reliable car. My wife hated this car, I realized it when we took the RAV4 on a trip. After a hundred kilometers I couldn't find a place in the seat, it was fuel-hungry, driving the RAV4 at night was a nightmare. We both looked for switches in the dark. Overall, my wife didn't like the RAV4 and we decided to sell it. I chose escape phev after the review from your video. I chose top trim 2022 escape. My wife is delighted with the car, it is spacious, comfortable, quiet and economical. Reliable so far. Ford Escape with 2.5 l engine is a good choice.

Great review as always! As an owner of a 2021 SE model, a few things I’d like to add about the Escape Hybrid in general: - You’re 100% right about the heated seats, mine are cloth but at the top setting they are legitimately HOT even in -30 weather. - Some may complain about the interior feeling cheap, sure it’s a little plasticky but the super comfortable seats and abundance of space make up for that in my opinion. I slightly prefer it to the RAV4. - These will probably be a great used car buy down the road. Toyota prices have been insane on the secondary market, and I just don’t think the RAV4 hybrid is that much more reliable to justify the extra cost. The Escape uses a very similar powertrain which has proven itself well over the years. Remember the eCVT is built by Aisin, and the Duratec gas engine was co-developed with Mazda and has a great reputation. I feel better about the Ford than I do with the Korean alternatives. Keep up the great work you two!

Yeah, I think Ford nailed it with this vehicle. They just need to tame their pricing a little bit and add that softer suspension to more trim levels. If they sell a 1,000 or 2,000 dollars below the RAV4 they would get much more sales.

Bought a 2024 Escape hybrid ST Line Select today. Long time VW owner, but love this Escape. Besides being my everyday vehicle, will also use to flat tow as tote vehicle behind a motorhome. I have a smaller motorhome and didn't want to pull something bigger, and there are very few options. This will fit the bill nicely. Thanks!

We bought a 2008 Escape hybrid. Although we bought it in March, the dealership had never seen one until we ordered it. It was a very good car and was a great highway traveller. It also got 6.0 l per 100 km which turned out to be better than the FIAT 500 we bought as a second car in late 2011 (2012 model). The Escape was fun driving electrically from time to time and we traded the Escape in 2012 for a Chevrolet Volt which was an outstanding car. One slight advantage of the current Escape over the RAV 4 is that you can actually buy one (try that at your Toyota dealer!) I have a Prius Prime on order (Oct 2023 ordered). The dealership is not sure if I will get the Prius in 2024 - may be 2025. To get a Toyota hybrid, you must be patient. My Maverick Lariat Hybrid has just arrived - I already have a XLT hybrid Maverick which will get traded back in.

I own a 2020 Escape SE Sport Hybrid with premium package. It's 4 years old now and averaging 46.8 mpg so far. No problems. Paint job is great in white tri coat metallic. Now I do have an open recall on possible engine failure. There were some defective blocks and so far about 600 engines have failed out of hundreds of thousands produced. So I'm not worried after 4 years. And an open recall covers me. Most failures come after a couple thousand miles as Pistons are destroyed by defective tolerances on block. So so far less than 1% of 2020-2023 Escape Hybrids are affected.

So what you should be saying is that electric is the future and hybrid is what the current market needs until battery tech advances. Much like initially with gas stations, the charging network will never advance without demand.

In December 2019, just before the pandemic hit, I traded in my 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid for a 2020 Ford Escape SE Sport Hybrid. While the 2020 was known for quality issues overall, the hybrids appear to have been an exception. Even Consumer Reports said the hybrid was “the Escape done right.” The model has had several recalls, but I’ve experienced no problems. I live in the Boston, MA area; have driven the car to Maine, Vermont, Wisconsin, and Delaware without any issues. It is comfortable to be in for long driving days. My wife says the passenger experience is great. Finally, I understand people didn’t generally like the exterior styling, that Porsche look, but to this day people still tell us they love the look of the car.

I had a 2020 Escape Titanium Hybrid, I really liked that vehicle when I got it. But a few months later I had to have the rear tail lights replaced under warranty due to condensation build up inside them, the windsheild cracked for no apparent reason due to Ford using thinner glass and the 12V battery died on a very cold winter day leaving me stranded and that was also replaced under warranty. After that I got rid of it.

I had a 2023 Titanium hybrid. I loved it until at about 10 months of ownership it developed a battery (12V) problem that Ford could not fix. After about 65 days in the Ford Dealer repair shop I contacted Ford and arranged for them to repurchase the vehicle. I do have to say that Ford dealt with the situation in the best way possible, and we quite fair and accomodating in the repurchase. But overall, a disappointing outcome since I liked the vehicle so much.

We bought a 2023 Ford Escape Hybrid. Ours is getting 39.5 MPG. We needed a car that can hold 5 people and also has room in the back for stuff. We got the more basic model. This car was very hard to get. They sell out fast here in California. You did not mention what is difference between a "plug-in" and "non-plug-in" hybrid. We got the non-plug-in Hybrid. For us this seems to be the right choice. With non-plug-in hybrid you just drive. This is very easy to do. Thoughts?

All three are top of the line Platinum / Lariat. I put over 200K miles on my first Escape back in 2018. You can get price cuts and financing deals on Fords but although Toyotas are great dealers are still thinking they deserve a premium over MSRP.

I have a new Escape ST Select gas engine, which now has port injection with GDI (250HP). The MSRP was $40850 with Sunroof, Tow package, 19" wheels, Adaptive cruise, Red color, 4 wheels. I have not found anything bad so far. I found it online in Washingtonn and I am in Oregon. It was advertised with a $5730 discount and that is what I paid, no extras, add ons or junk fees, just $200 DOC Fee. Tags, Title, Registration ($404 for 4 years) I did myself. Tax was $183. Did the whole deal online/phone with no problems. (Pierreford of Seattle). My previous car, which I'm holding on to is a 2012 Fusion SE (65000 miles). It has been totally faultless. I agree on the pricing, if you are going to include less you need to price it down.

On paper and in person the Escape Hybrid seem like very nice car & do get exception mpg. I've drove a 2022 ICE model several thousand miles as a rental and like it. I came very close to purchasing an Escape PHEV in 2022 ^ 2023. Turned out both cars were extremely rare in PNW & even U.S. some folks waiting well over 6 months for PHEVs. I started monitoring the Ford Escape owner's forum. For a car that had sold very few units in 2023, there were an excessive number of complaints for both HEVs & PHEVs(I realize forums attract complaints). Mostly electronic & 12v battery issues. As several others have mention in the comments, the 12v battery issues go back as far as the 2020 models. While I imagine many Escape Hybrids are reliable and overpriced for high end models. I decided to get a used 2023 Niro HEV. Less space but more MPG and features. Has been a very good car for the 1st 16xxx miles.

I had a 2020 Escape Platinum which I bought as it was one of the few available and was pleasantly surprised. While the interior quality was meh, the tech, power and size (interior space) were great. Zach is right, I live in Puerto vallarta and they only offer hybrid, it was about $6000 USD more than a Tucson hybrid but was AWD vs fwd (but no snow here). I bought the Tucson for better interior quality, quieter and lower price though it came down to those two. I am delighted with the Tucson although Ford’s adaptive cruise is safer and i prefer Synch 4. Tucson cruise often misses the car ahead in curves and when one cuts in and doesn’t stop. Guess what? After my purchase the escape hybrid Platinum is about $7500 off, so now competitive with Tucson!

@@v8soarer1991 Ford does NOT own Mazda anymore and hasn't for some time now. They parted ways back in 2015. Ford and Mazda share no ties at all now.

Would you consider adding some extra points to your reviews? Such as predicted/perceived reliability and potential resale value? Seeing this being talked about on other channels and it would be some good info that I'm sure ppl would be interested to know.I was thinking about hearing your own opinions about these. As much as I am aware those vehicles are brand new, these factors can be deducted from the model and company's history to the best of one's ability. Cheers.

Informative review but didn't sway me from my top picks....the CRV and RAV 4 Hybrids. KIA builds some great looking vehicles, but I'd be very surprised if they lasted as long as a Honda or Toyota.

13"53 what happened to the turn signals on the Escape? They used to be proper separate amber lamps, but now the brake lights flash for some nonsensical reason? Whoever signed off on that decision evidently doesn't know what they're doing and needs to find a new line of work. All turn signals, front, side and rear are separate amber lamps, without exception.

It Europe the car (called the Kuga) has proper amber turn signals. If you wanted to you could buy the European tail lamp housings and install them in your US spec cars without any problem. Only need to use a scan tool to set the lamp spec to EU.

The mechanical system in ford escape hybrid is the almost same as Toyota hybrid except rear wheel motor in toyota. I drove escape hybrid, rav4 hybrid, and venza hybrid (2019MY, 2022MY, 2023MY). They are all similar in fuel efficiency and drivetrain. I liked both rav4 and venza interior while i really liked ford nvh and ride quality.

I'm looking at a used 2020-2022 Escape hybrid Titanium under 60,000 km and I'm finding prices pretty 'reasonable' $30-35K in Canada. Zack I like Maverick too, but I'm in snowy area and need AWD.

Regarding pricing, maybe Ford dealers will offer a discount. Toyota dealers are not likely to do that.

I would consider this as an alternative to RAV 4 or a CRV if it were more affordable and had a better quality reputation than it has.

Unless it has a huge discount, there is really no reason to buy these.

a little add-on, Adaptive cruise control doesn't come standard on ST line. Also Floors mats and Slash Guard. Where other brand give it in middle trim.

I don't understand why anyone would buy a Ford. Not because they are a bad car (although their reliability is quite bad), but because A Ford Manufacturer Warranty (in the UK), only gives you three years or 60,000 miles from new, whichever comes first. In the past, they used to only offer 1 year base warranty and 2 year "dealer" warranty. So basically everything is covered for 1 year, but after that, its very hard to get Ford to do anything. How can I trust a manufacturer who will not give a longer warranty? My Rav4 warranty is 10 years or 100,000 miles.... a no brainer! I know there are others who also only offer 3 years, but why risk their product when they have no confidence in it. My TV has a 5 year warranty and I chose it because of that, and a car is a huge investment compared to that. I keep my cars for at least 10 years so it is important to have the security of a long warranty.
