I just bought the 2024 Escape hybrid in Platinum trim. I literally looked at EVERY small suv and none or them felt comfortable to me. I was about to buy the Rav 4 when Found this one and fell in love with how pretty it is inside and out, and the comfort of the seats. I can sit high and see everything - the most comfortable seats next to the Toyota Venza. It was expensive, but so were others and I couldn't see spending so much on a car that I didn't like. This has plenty of backseat room (the seats actually move forward and back) while still staying small enough to be easily managed. Mine parks itself - which I admit is pretty scary to let it go and watch it happen, and it has every safety feature I could even imagine. I tried tested the collision avoidance by trying to back into my brother but the car stopped itself 2 feet away. I am praying that it is as reliable as it is pretty.

I find myself watching reviews for cars I’m not even interested in because you two are so compelling. I really appreciate how you don’t tell anyone “to buy” or “not to buy”, you provide pro’s and con’s and that’s what’s so valuable. Just because I car does or doesn’t come AWD, doesn’t make it bad or good, just may not be an appropriate vehicle for someone and that’s why I keep watching, even though I’m not looking! Well done, keep it up.

A few years ago, I bought a RAV4 for my wife, choosing a reliable car. My wife hated this car, I realized it when we took the RAV4 on a trip. After a hundred kilometers I couldn't find a place in the seat, it was fuel-hungry, driving the RAV4 at night was a nightmare. We both looked for switches in the dark. Overall, my wife didn't like the RAV4 and we decided to sell it. I chose escape phev after the review from your video. I chose top trim 2022 escape. My wife is delighted with the car, it is spacious, comfortable, quiet and economical. Reliable so far. Ford Escape with 2.5 l engine is a good choice.

Great review as always! As an owner of a 2021 SE model, a few things I’d like to add about the Escape Hybrid in general: - You’re 100% right about the heated seats, mine are cloth but at the top setting they are legitimately HOT even in -30 weather. - Some may complain about the interior feeling cheap, sure it’s a little plasticky but the super comfortable seats and abundance of space make up for that in my opinion. I slightly prefer it to the RAV4. - These will probably be a great used car buy down the road. Toyota prices have been insane on the secondary market, and I just don’t think the RAV4 hybrid is that much more reliable to justify the extra cost. The Escape uses a very similar powertrain which has proven itself well over the years. Remember the eCVT is built by Aisin, and the Duratec gas engine was co-developed with Mazda and has a great reputation. I feel better about the Ford than I do with the Korean alternatives. Keep up the great work you two!

We bought a 2008 Escape hybrid. Although we bought it in March, the dealership had never seen one until we ordered it. It was a very good car and was a great highway traveller. It also got 6.0 l per 100 km which turned out to be better than the FIAT 500 we bought as a second car in late 2011 (2012 model). The Escape was fun driving electrically from time to time and we traded the Escape in 2012 for a Chevrolet Volt which was an outstanding car. One slight advantage of the current Escape over the RAV 4 is that you can actually buy one (try that at your Toyota dealer!) I have a Prius Prime on order (Oct 2023 ordered). The dealership is not sure if I will get the Prius in 2024 - may be 2025. To get a Toyota hybrid, you must be patient. My Maverick Lariat Hybrid has just arrived - I already have a XLT hybrid Maverick which will get traded back in.

I own a 2020 Escape SE Sport Hybrid with premium package. It's 4 years old now and averaging 46.8 mpg so far. No problems. Paint job is great in white tri coat metallic. Now I do have an open recall on possible engine failure. There were some defective blocks and so far about 600 engines have failed out of hundreds of thousands produced. So I'm not worried after 4 years. And an open recall covers me. Most failures come after a couple thousand miles as Pistons are destroyed by defective tolerances on block. So so far less than 1% of 2020-2023 Escape Hybrids are affected.

Even Consumer Reports said the hybrid was “the Escape done right.” The model has had several recalls, but I’ve experienced no problems. I live in the Boston, MA area; have driven the car to Maine, Vermont, Wisconsin, and Delaware without any issues. It is comfortable to be in for long driving days. On paper and in person the Escape Hybrid seem like very nice car & do get exception mpg. I've drove a 2022 ICE model several thousand miles as a rental and like it. I came very close to purchasing an Escape PHEV in 2022 ^ 2023. Turned out both cars were extremely rare in PNW & even U.S. some folks waiting well over 6 months for PHEVs. I started monitoring the Ford Escape owner's forum. For a car that had sold very few units in 2023, there were an excessive number of complaints for both HEVs & PHEVs(I realize forums attract complaints). Mostly electronic & 12v battery issues. As several others have mention in the comments, the 12v battery issues go back as far as the 2020 models. While I imagine many Escape Hybrids are reliable and overpriced for high end models. I decided to get a used 2023 Niro HEV. Less space but more MPG and features. Has been a very good car for the 1st 16xxx miles.

Zach is right, I live in Puerto vallarta and they only offer hybrid, it was about $6000 USD more than a Tucson hybrid but was AWD vs fwd (but no snow here). I bought the Tucson for better interior quality, quieter and lower price though it came down to those two. I am delighted with the Tucson although Ford’s adaptive cruise is safer and i prefer Synch 4. Tucson cruise often misses the car ahead in curves and when one cuts in and doesn’t stop. Guess what? I don't understand why anyone would buy a Ford. Not because they are a bad car (although their reliability is quite bad), but because A Ford Manufacturer Warranty (in the UK), only gives you three years or 60,000 miles from new, whichever comes first. In the past, they used to only offer 1 year base warranty and 2 year "dealer" warranty. So basically everything is covered for 1 year, but after that, its very hard to get Ford to do anything. How can I trust a manufacturer who will not give a longer warranty? My Rav4 warranty is 10 years or 100,000 miles.... a no brainer! I know there are others who also only offer 3 years, but why risk their product when they have no confidence in it. My TV has a 5 year warranty and I chose it because of that, and a car is a huge investment compared to that. I keep my cars for at least 10 years so it is important to have the security of a long warranty.

Just compared the price point and models. Think they are behind a lot of manufacturers in terms of price/value.

We get 50 mpg with out Insight, which is basically a Civic hybrid...so if that matters to you, that would be the point 😊
