As someone who owns 2 F-150's . A few things to keep in mind for those that purchase one. You can't skip an oil change with this engine. If you do, you will cause severe damage to the timing chain. I've seen it many times. The 3.5L Ecoboost is more like an F1 race engine than the regular V6. Also you will need to change the oil, and filter in the transmission every 30K miles. The 3.5 Ecoboost is the same engine that Ford has in the GT supercar, and it's a beast.

They tried offering a 3.0 PowerStroke Diesel for a short period but they didn't sell all that well here. Maybe Ford ought to consider bringing it back for Australia?

We do have diesel pickups in the US, but not on pickups as small as the F150. You have to get above the 8500lb GVM mark so get into a different set of EPA regulations. Diesels are the engine of choice for F250s and above.

It’s because in Australia they get a 2. Something litre Thai /Philippines built vehicle made for an Asian market as standard , pay over $80 grand for it and think they got a bargain, so the US 1500 range is huge to these guys and they stupidly pay over $100 grand plus plus plus. Here’s the kicker, all these trucks are converted in the same factory, it’s the mafia of pick ups.

For sure, even with big price increases, car sales are at high levels and not cheap ones either. House prices are still rising, shopping centres are buzzing and try getting accomodation in a half desirable location, for a get away, even during the week. How high do interest rates need to go, to pull back deadly inflation? I thought a 2-3% cash rate would kill the economy. Yet here we are at over 4%, which is not actually high, historically.

If you are puzzled as to why Australian buyers are buying these expensive, gas guzzling trucks...so are we Americans. Here in the 'states these trucks have average prices that put the monthly loan payments at OVER $1,000 a month. To make matters worse, all manufacturers have either discontinued their "base" models or increased the prices substantially.
@Jabid21 Жыл бұрын
Trucks are super profitable and don’t have to go through the stringent regulations in terms of safety and fuel efficiency in the U.S. Automakers marketed these vehicles heavily in the US and they were successful in getting owning trucks as either luxury status symbols for some or as patriotic as owning the tools needed for the 2nd amendment.

Great intro David! Valid use case for towing something heavy, but these trucks in the city are 200% as likely to kill a person in an accident (source: ETSC study), consume way more fuel than other vehicles, and painful to park. Shame some ppl need a giant, inefficient truck to feel like a really big, tough man...
@Accretion-Ranch8 ай бұрын
Way more fuel? My 2nd gen Toyota Kluger uses more fuel than an F150. So did its replacement Mazda CX9. I also don’t think it would be much safer for a cyclist if I hit them with those (reference ETSC study). I now live in a rural area, and the added functionality and tow capacity this vehicle brings is welcome and long overdue. Should I not have one because city people feel intimidated that they exist and reference European study data about cyclists and pedestrians as potential targets? Why not reference a NoA study where these vehicles ACTUALLY exist amongst an urban population in significant quantity? Might put your mind at ease. Or there’s therapy, should you need it..

What rubbish James, paying attension while driving any vehicle is paramount,
@battle1test832 Жыл бұрын
James is correct. To those who replied to him, The facts disagree with your opinions. The facts show there is a safety issue , and it’s to do with all utes and SUV’s, but In short, the bigger and heavier the Ute or SUV vehicle is, the more dangerous it is for others, not the occupant. One recent article I found was here and talks about the correlation of Ute and suv weight and size to how lethal a vehicle is in Aus - www.smh.com.au/national/bigger-dirtier-more-dangerous-how-auto-besity-is-a-health-risk-for-everyone-20230803-p5dtkg.html Two quite sobering quotes illustrate the problem - “Pedestrian fatalities and serious injuries are reducing at a much slower rate than driver fatalities and serious injuries, and that is correlating precisely with the increase in vehicle size,” Johnston said. “So we need to be taking this risk seriously and thinking about how we can reduce it. And “Experts believe large SUVs and large pickup trucks are a key driver of a 77 per cent jump in pedestrian deaths in the United States between 2010 and 2021” I can see why this is such a divisive vehicle.
