14:18 - Rented a 2WD version for a few weeks. I rode (and been driven) about 3'000 miles and averaged 11l/100km (in eco mode). Still a fan of F-150 but would definitely consider the RAM again - the growl of HEMI V8 is hypnotizing (even at idle).

I bought the Ram 1500 Laramie just over 2 years ago, absolutely love it, once you get use to the dimensions of the vehicle its not a problem, you do have to be mindful of where you park but as far as comfort space and towing ability goes you just cant beet them, I have owned many dual cabs including Fords, Holdens, Nissans, Toyotas and VW's, non of them quite stack up as far as finish, comfort and towing ability in my opinion, the only one that gets close in my regard is the VW Amarok, that's before they teamed up with ford, not sure what the new model is like? the Ram wont be for everyone but once you drive one for a short period of time it's hard to go back.

Around 13-14 litres per 100km around my local suburb, best I have done is 10 litres per 100 km, that was on a freeway trip to Jindabyne, towing a 2 ton trailer I'm getting between 17-19, all depends on the type of driving and how you drive them, if you drive them hard you will be worse off at the bowser, the biggest downside to them ATM is the cost of fuel its ridiculous, especially premium unleaded which is what I run in mine due to the amount of towing I do. @@diegonaranjo2425

@Kierdziol My '21 F150 XLT has one tonne of payload, it all boils down to how the suspension is designed. The Ram in this video has coil spring suspension, AND is quite heavy being the top trim Laramie. Where as the ford has leaf springs, and less weight seeing as it's an aluminum body. I'd never buy such overpriced trims, I'm a working man... Those paper pushers are ruining trucks for the common man (In the US)

Ive owned them all.3 x Ranger, new ranger raptor, hilux and i have to say the Ram is by far the best dual cab ive ever owned. Nice review, and yes, the side mirrors need better conversion. The power is amazing, the ride, the space, wonderful. My kids love the space and comfort. And you've already done a 4wd and towing test, which killed it didnt it. It really is an Australian dual cab destroyer, and there's a reason they are growing in popularity even though the price is high. I want a TRX. Honestly, there is no comparison.
@reeltomeal
@reeltomeal Жыл бұрын
Paul, I've been told with these RAM's that if you were to lift the bonnet ,have a look at the extension steering rod that is setup for the right side that they've had to fit it for the conversion , so i guess as a result; you get a bit of extra movement in the steering because of that. I guess it's the only way they can convert it properly to right hand drive with the steering rack moved across!

I was in one of the footwells of my Alfa Romeo the other day (the 156 or the 166, can't remember) and I found that the brake booster was on the left side of the car. Nice vehicle to tour this country but yesterday I saw a guy trying to reverse into his spot at the caravan park I’m in right now. It’s was like he was driving the QE2. He was really struggling. Poor turning circle and too big. To top it off this particular caravan park like so many has limited space for your car. The other issue is fuel. 30 litres per 100 towing a caravan. Nah stuff that. With oil prices tipped to hit $100US a barrel by Christmas forget it.

Have managed 10.8 litres on a trip down the East Coast of Tassie and as a work Ute it doesn’t use much more fuel than my V6 ranger. Once you get use to the size it’s pretty easy to park and is surprisingly nimble. Have had a 1500 but you had to work it harder to get the same result as the 3500, thus using more fuel. I've owned one for 18 months now and absolutely love it. Poor drivers give this car a bad name by parking it badly. I've never had an issue parking it at coles carpark or malls. Just be mindful of the length and park in reverse where there is empty space behind you and that keeps the nose in the parking spot. I get about 13 to 14 l per km on pretty short runs on a daily basis which i think is really good for what it is. I just wish they came with the optional bigger tank. I agree with the mirror. Looks like they didn't do a swap on that, which is annoying. Android auto is half screen which is annoying as well. Really would love to figure out how to fix that. Heated steering wheel option is on the left side of the screen. Looks like they didnt bother with a software update for right hand drive. I don't have that wobble in my steering wheel. I owned a ram 1500 dt for 3 years.. it wasn’t built to last. By the end of my short three years I could see where things were starting to fail. The paint finish is atrocious. The conversion method is questionable. Needs to be revved high for towing. Plastic in the ram box split apart after 2 years and warranty didn’t cover it. Then spots of rust in the doors and around the firewall from where they butchered the car for the conversion were evident. Oh and parts of you need them??? Give it a good 8-12 months. They aren’t built nor supported well enough for the Australian roads. The idea Of owning one is far better then the reality.

Wow. This V8 Dodge Ram is using as much fuel as my New 2023 Subaru Forester. Past year average sits at 16.5 l / 100km 😖. This further convinces me something is screwy but Subaru says it's all fine. Awesome ute and great review by Paul as usual.

Yep something seems sus there my Vf 2013 Sv6 sportswagon 1800kg with 3.6 litre direct injection V6 only averages 10.0 litres per hundred Km. 60 % city and 40% freeway driving or a perfect 7 litres per hundred Km on a long highway run.

Here in New Zealand ram is come up to be used as a company work truck. which I am excited to see and also that 130mg on the side way is funny it just to show you that ram is good but it not good at control and not equipped with a hill descent control for the body. For 140k truck I will not pick it if I really want a truck that can good off road it's gotten be the ram TRX but if i want to use it for work it will be the 2500 or 3500

The RamBox is what makes it perfect for trades. We've got a crap ton of shoeboxes going up around Auckland. I wonder if Dodge will do what Ford did and create a more base model that includes most of the features in this one but a much lower cost, a headache rack with the ability to add in amber beacons.

Yeah pretty sure if you're in the US and give a crap about payload, you go straight for the 2500/250 size stuff. Fyi, there's 2 mobs doing the RHD conversions. The Brisbane based mob include a gvm upgrade as standard. The Melbourne mob couldn't give a crap about it.

Hi, Paul! Do you have dealerships in AUS, that can service the car ? And also, the company that did the steering wheel switch, are they international or only in AUS, cause I think there's also another company like that in the UK, or maybe it's the same company??

It is a nice use, just the price is an issue. I do wish Ford would introduce something similar to the rambox for the Rangers. The Australian channels are the only ones giving the lsd equipped Rams the time of day off road. I'm not sure if thats on purpose or if these are just the trucks Ram is giving you guys for testing. In the US people act like you absolutely must have the rear locker or you won't make it down your gravel driveway. Especially when paired with proper tires, the lsd will still meet the offroad needs of the vast majority of buyers. Of course the locker is still better if you can get one with it.
@duramaxadventures5832

Most of the Rams in the US are sold with an open rear differential. But US buyers absolutely hate buying tires especially at their newfound prices many of them are double what they were before COVID.

@@duramaxadventures5832 Open diff along with the LSD are most common. Based on being a recent Ram shopper myself I can say lots were filled with LSD equipped trucks but finding one on a dealer lot with the factory off road package or back country package that includes the e-locker was just about impossible. Most dealers are ordering them with the LSD with the 3.21 gears.

From personal experience (I've sat in a RAM). My brother has a Y62 Patrol. The Patrol has much more interior space, not just because it's a wagon, but the rear seat passengers have a ridiculous amount of leg room . The Patrol is also $50K cheaper.

I have a Y62, and my neighbour has a RAM, the Y62 has more interior space. Oh, and we both have them for towing. They’re big, but what we tow is equally big. Just be smart when parking, and there’s no problem. My Y62 is wide, but my Hilux was longer in size.

Hi Paul its just adding more money to the price of the pick up by being converted here in Australia and what a waste of materials that do not get reused just get put in the BIN so this why its so expensive and just adds more cost to the price of the vehicle just not my cup of tea at the moment if there start bring them into Australia R hand drive it would be so much better at a selling point of view which would lowest the of the vehicle and would have more sales in Australia. Not just on the RAM its all of the American pickup trucks that are coming into Australia thank you for your review...........
