Amazing!! My grandpa is 85 years old and has always had a garden, even as a child, and he tells me all the time nothing ever goes exactly how you want it to when it comes to gardening. Anything you get is a blessing. He is right. It’s a lot of work and you never know what you will get but it’s always worth it ❤

Tomatoes surprised us. They started out very slow and since we live so far north (50 mi from the Canadian border) we thought we were only going to have green tomatoes, but then.... they started coming in like crazy and we had an abundance ofvtomatoes! What a blessing from the Lord!

Arugula was our winner here in Illinois! (as well as kale and dry corn). Arugula didn’t bolt as quickly as lettuce, and surprisingly reseeded the whole bed when it did go to seed so we enjoyed a fresh tender unexpected crop from the Lord!

Thanks for sharing your beautiful video footage. My neighbors that lived heat in Hart’s, WV sold their farm and moved to Eagleville, Missouri. I don’t know how far that is from you guys. They bought a huge farm. I think around 500 acres. I miss them so much. We raised a garden also, but we had a drought. Our garden did ok but not as good as it usually does.

What a beautiful pantry! It was a strange garden year for us. We had 100+ for 6-8 weeks in the prime of the season so have just put the garden to bed (in the NW). I think it sounds like you are doing great with your garden. I don't think we ever stop learning. This year for the first time, I planted my corn over the top of the potatoes - it worked great! I was really surprised. Just found you - what a great site 😊

I am trying to grow more edible perennials and native plants. One plant has particularly caught my attention because it is easy to grow, and the bugs don't seem to bother it as much as it does the brocolli and greens that I grow annually. The plant is sea kale. It produces little brocolli rabe type of florets, and it produces very tasty greens. I still have a lot to learn about how to grow and how to use this plant. It is looking promising, though. I started out with 2 plants that I divided this fall, so I am hoping to have more plants next spring. I am looking forward to seeing how it does next year.

I highly recommend a soil test. It sounds to me like you are short of nitrogen in general. But you won't really know until you test. I use RXsoil and have had good luck with them. I had a record onion harvest. I was truly blessed. Also I grew parsnips for the first time. I had never eaten them and I discovered that I like them. Ive already begun to plan next years garden and I cant wait!

I think it was a poor year for potatoes. I’ve seen several places, including my own that had small crops. Mine were eaten by these really small white bugs under the ground that were almost 90% eaten by harvest time.
@1000sofrootsАй бұрын
We kept "stealing" potatoes early from around our plants to try to get them before the bugs did. We still lost some to bugs, but I think we will be doing the stealing method again next year. Hopefully we all get a better crop next year. Blessings to you.❤
