Page 7 of the 2024 Honda Goldwing Owners Manual: "Do not ride the vehicle with the mirrors folded inward, as the mirrors can interfere with the handlebar controls". This is followed by another warning with a well highlighted text under a !WARNING banner: "Riding the vehicle with the mirrors folded inward can interfere with your ability to safely operate the vehicle and could lead to a crash which you can be seriously hurt or killed. Make sure the mirrors are fully extended outward and secured in place before riding the vehicle". So who has the design flaw? The motorcycle or the motorcycle OWNER?

You can get a small paint correction kit from auto zone. Comes with a small sanding pad and steps of sandpaper all the way to 5k grit to get tly buff those out in small stages. The bag will look new for 13$. I have used it on many small paint corrections, and I have no experience with paint corrections.

This is old news and has been well publicised since the first 2018 bikes came out. Not really a design flaw just operator error. I've mine since 2019 not done that though I always fold the mirrors in when it is parked up in the garage. Now I believe it is also included as a clear warning in the manul not to ride the bike with the mirrors folded in, which it wasn't in the original 2018 manual. Maybe you should read the manual thoroughly before using the bike.

Understood, but I totally disagree with Hondas decision to allow the mirrors while folded in allow the DCT to engage, walk mode only should be allowed, the bike is too smart and hi tech to allow this design flaw, n I t sure why you guys aren't as upset as me.

I dropped my Wing yesterday after work doing the same thing. Right side mirror was folded in, I made a hard left turn, brake lever got pushed, bike stopped and fell over to the left. This video popped up in my feed this morning without me even searching. Crazy…..

I believe it's happened to a lot more than who have the guts to admit, 3 times I did this, only 1 did I fall off, guys, we have so much visibility on a motorcycle that it's easy to not check your mirrors, honda needs to add a sensor just like the stand

Never, it's only when you fold them in for whatever reason, service, parking, squeezing between a tight spot, etc, especially with the reverse walking mode, this is the most dangerous design flaw, noway should this technically beautiful bike omit allowing you to engage the DCT other than walk mode

Yeah, I found that to be a problem folding mirrors so I could cover the bike. I couldn’t put the handlebar lock with mirror folded and cover the bike. Not happening UNTIL I replaced the stock handlebars with the Helibars They adjust so you CAN.

The mirror issue is a kbown problem traxxion makes a item to help with this issue. "Honda Gold Wing Mirror Stop Kit" it cost $14.95 They also sell a new folding mirror kit . hope this helps.

The gold wing is perfection on two wheels, I own a 1986 Honda gold wing GL1200 interstate. I bought it with 28,000 miles on it, it runs like a hot knife into butter. I couldn't care less about Harley Davidson which only produce junk. I only buy a quality product, and Harley Davidson doesn't produce a quality product, so their bikes aren't worth my money.

I thought was the coolest looking bike ever, until I realized I had to keep fixing I to keep it running. I did some reviewing on the new Milwaukee 8 motor. The oil pump obliterate themselves after 100,000 miles trashing the motor. I rather own a gold wing which is good for 400,000+ miles.

Ultimately, yes, now I think about it. My BMW DCT kinda spoiled me, but it was a major reason why the wing, also the smooth low vibration long tour design. I also like the appearance, but I'd honestly still choose the wing 6 speed before the H, and I as well, geez the only real loss and a major loss is the no dealership or communal brothers like H and I have.This is a huge factor, lastly, I really hate myself for not supporting USA American made

I like many brands and styles of bikes... Currently riding a '21 Trike and it is very nice. I have to give credit to where it is due. I had a '10 Honda Goldwing and it was amazing. Sure it was heavy, but simply amazing... that 6 cy. engine is incredible and dependable. Honda does the wing right for sure and these new DCT versions raise the bar for sure imo.

Sorry to see that damage with your brand new bike...I installed Traxxions tip over protection on my 2018...if you had the Traxxion tip over protection installed you would have had no damage to your saddlebag lid or mirror...about 650 dollars to replace that saddlebag lid and another couple hundred for the mirror housing..BTW the fact you had the mirror folded in is not a design flaw...user error

Thank you for watching. However, your analysis is 100% incorrect. Absolutely, the front brake handle hit the folded in the right mirror and instantly locked the bike both front and rear brake and threw me off..additionally the ball on the end of the front brake lever locks into the mirror, go to any goldwing dealership and turn the handlebars full left with mirror folded in. The only positive of this awful design flaw is that it only happens during extreme low speed as you never turn your handlebars under any normal speeds,

I like the video. My comment as far as repairs on the saddlebag is take it to a wrapping place, have it wrapped. Then put all your stickers you are going to acquire on the wrap, or just a close color. The PSA part of your video is actually in the 300 page owners manual cautioning against operating with mirrors in retracted position. I’m a short rider, and when I put the Horizon Helicopter-bars on the position of the new bars is something that negates that concern. Additionally the bars are round, fully adjustable and much more comfortable. I will like and subscribe for your video is very good. ( I need to learn more about editing so I can put out cool videos too. PS; I read the manual 3 times so far. Currently at 22,000 miles on my 2022, and would not trade it for anything! 🎯👍 JT in northern Illinois

Those saying this is solely operator error are wrong. It is a design flaw! I’ve been riding 40 years, had 4 Wings. The latest being a 19, and currently a 22. I did the exact same thing last year backing into a parking space, causing me to lay my brand new Wing down. No damage. This was not an issue on my 94/07 Wings. This is a design flaw..

That is a crazy design issue and maybe at the minimum they could put a warning light or buzzer on it just to help others from doing the same.
