Have had my Tank 300 for 12 months and 9,000km. Fitted from new with Pirelli Scorpion ATR tyres. 100% reliable. The breaking issue, ie rear wheel lift is a non issue. Lane assist is crap but on it's first service today the problem has been reduced so that around town it's no problem. On the Highway you just turn off. Engine performance is absolutely ok. It's quiet but a little thirsty but drinks 91 unleaded. Would I buy another one. Hell yeah they are a quality product. Just accept it for what it is. It ain't no sports car but an incredibly relaxed highway tourer and it's got serious off road ability. I'm a car nut and spoiler alert I also have a Boxster GTS 4.0l manual. Both vastly different cars but for their intended markets both hold their own. Well, the Porsche not only holds it's own, it own's it's market admittedly. If you are not a prestigious Rolex wearing nutter then consider the TANK.

That’s an excellent summary of the tank! And yeah the braking issue seems to come up a lot but I didn’t find it to be an issue at all. I had a proper battle with the ELK one time over the top of a hill. 😂 gave me a proper wobble in the lane then braked. Overall though I didn’t find their system to be any more intrusive than the others I’ve driven. They all lack a certain finesse. Mercedes for an example love a good emergency brake in the small side streets. 😅

Thank you. I test drove one last week. The earlier version had a breaking issue of rear wheel lifting up, is it still there? Nice review.
@DiceyRiceyАй бұрын
@@windfal7 Hey there, thanks for watching and commenting. I didn’t experience the wheel lifting whilst braking around town or out on the highway in the week I had the car. I’m typically a dual-cab ute guy and the Tank’s anchors are stronger than any of the dual cabs I’ve driven. I believe the suspension to be very well sorted for off-road use (I may’ve driven over a few kerbs testing that out). If anything it’s fairly soft so that could contribute to the car moving its weight forward on the front suspension under heavy braking, and lifting in the rear. However I wasn’t able to replicate the wheel lift myself trying emergency stops from 80kph.

@@DiceyRicey so many issues with software - besides those issue, the inconsistent throttle response is very annoying. You can’t predict how quick it’s gonna accelerate. I actually decided yesterday to sell it back to the dealer and for a couple of K I’ll get a brand-new petrol one.

Wow! That’s some really interesting feedback on the hybrid. I haven’t driven one personally yet and I wonder if this is on GWMs radar to do a software patch at some stage as a fix. I guess we’ll see in time.

Cargo capacity is way too small for 4 people. Its basically its a bit bigger than a jimmy.
@DiceyRiceyАй бұрын
It’s a really surprising effective payload once the maths is done isn’t it? For young families 440kg would be ok. We also worked out my small-caravan towing retiree friends could make it work too but it’s tight! They’ve got a 100kg ball weight for reference and the van is 980kg. That aside this isn’t a four adults + gear kind of car. Certainly not if they’re my size. Hehe. Thanks for watching and commenting. 😁
@JJ-uy2sgАй бұрын
@@DiceyRicey Yeah, in China where it sells mostly, towing anything is pretty much illegal as the gov deems civilian tow vehicles as a threat. Nobody tows in China. Never. Then also the average family in China weighs a lot less, plus camping, as in long term outback camping, doesn't really happen there either. The Tank 300 looks large on the roads but its pretty small. 2 people with gear. Maybe. Anything else and not really. GWM should just make a budget 7 seater off the the Cannon, that would sell. Or bring over the larger but awesome fake G Wagon.
@DiceyRiceyАй бұрын
@JJ-uy2sg good insights! I believe I’m going to get my hands on the Tank 500 soon enough, that one might be a bit more of a prado-level contender to get some proper towing and capacities going for GWM’s SUV lineup I reckon. I’ll see if I can get my hands on one and try it out!
