Once again, thanks for all your content and time to save us all the time and $$$ on installations, FINAL Verdict on the heated GRIPS from HD customer care and Dallas Harley Dav., after two days on the phone for 45 plus minutes on hold, awaiting a agent, I finally spoke to the most unconcerned male from HD customer care, to tell me it was up to my dealer if they choose to charge me are not and they can read the instruction sheet, goodbye! My local dealer, Dallas HD finally called me back and stated that the PAB1145 bulletin was only for their techs after they complete an install, not for the customer install. So, since I did my own install, I had to pay the dealer $82.50 to complete the setup, however, if the dealer did the install, it would have cost me 21/2 hours labor at 165$ an hour, so I guess I still saved a couple of hundred $$$$, thanks for all you do and it was worth a shot! I'm sure each dealer is different and Dallas HD is about every$$$$$$
@ITFZone8 ай бұрын
Oh my, very disappointing. I get that its a PAB vs a Service Bulletin BUT it is Harley's fault that the early versions of the bikes were not setup to activate the grips and which is why they changed this so it would. I seem to remember that the grip instructions imply they should work and its only this bulletin that calls out the issue. If I get an opportunity to call this out with HDMC I will keep this on my short list for them! Appreciate your follow-up on your experience!

I too thought there was no hole/slot in my handle bars, were the pin you showed goes into, then cut off, but then I turned the control unit more forward and there it was. It's to prevent turning the whole thing too far and crimping or cutting wires. They also did this "pin" on the handle bar mounting assembly. Again to prevent wire damage if you try to adjust the handlebars to far forward or backward. .
@ITFZone10 ай бұрын
Interesting, I can confirm no hole in my bars but I also didn't have the pin on the clip either. Good point about wires, making any adjustment or change in this area will require checking them! I think its unfortunate that Harley is not considering a slot for a hole to allow for adjustment, it is such an ergo benefit.

I kinda suspect that would be a wearable part and probably not but maybe. I have not noticed this yet but you have way more miles than I. I remember some flame grips and Harley offering just the rubber insert but not an option with this design.

Yes indeed that is an uninformed service manager OR dishonest. Another great video. I have a set of Adversary heated grips with the orange highlights on my 24 Road Glide. I had the dealer install them before I took delivery so I can’t say what was done. The Road/Street Glides with chrome trim like mine have orange highlights on the tank badges. (Ones with black trim don’t). The orange on my tank badges kind of complement the orange on the grips. I like the look. My only complaint is that they’re stupid expensive. They’re around $150 more than all the regular heated grips with the twist dial on the end that they use on non-Skyline bikes.

Ah I would agree the orange is a good look with that tank badge. I also agree the cost is crazy. We anticipate aftermarket versions coming for these and more options from HDMC so I suspect the price will come down for this option.

I haven’t done last update yet but shouldn’t affect that. I’m on the 23-1/2 RG. CVO.

Ok so CarPlay creates a WIFI connection. So you cannot have both the bike connected to your hotspot AND CarPlay at the same time. Nor would you need this as the assumption is you are using your phone for maps / weather / traffic. The HomeLink has been a challenge for several. I have found in more than one case the module is actually missing in the bike!! When the icon is dim and won't come on some report pulling the main fuse for a good 10 min or so has corrected this, I suspect resetting the BCM. But if the icon has never been there for you I would really want to look under that fairing and verify the module is even there.

The whole "VIN locked" parts scam is a load of crap. I have a 2005 police electra glide with no "Electra Glide" badging on the front fender. The 2021 and 2023 revival models had the badging that attached w/ 3M tape. Alot better than drilling holes for the old mounting system. They would not sell me the 3M badging because it was "VIN locked". What a joke. So I bought the old pinned version on Ebay and ground the pins off, then attached and trimmed my own 3M tape. Pain in the butt, but impossible to see the difference.
@ITFZone3 ай бұрын
2 sides to this, CVO owners most like appreciate some unique parts being locked but for many parts they add no value to the model so why bother locking them, could sell more parts!
