Thanks for another great video! I had the recall done last Wednesday (dealer did not even know about it yet). And even though I installed the Trashin' skid plate two months ago, there was already some slight rubbing visible on the harness. So apart from the extra zip tie they also added some extra wiring tube around the wiring part that was touching the engine case. No troubles yet, so I think problem fixed. A small issue but with huge risks....

Bro, want to give you an update on the siren install in my 2024 Street glide. I purchased the Siren 11 with the radio connection to a mobile pager. The siren install went very well and as you suggested there is a planned spot behind the battery to house this. Fits very nice and tight. There is a connector available very close to this spot. I was thus able to connect the siren fit neatly in the spot and ran the antenna over to the frame where it fitted very neatly. On point:: the battery tray that sits on top of the battery has two plastic clips that fit under the ledge on the rear fender. The left clip needs to be removed as the siren body will block it refitting. After removal of such no problem it all went back together. BTW as I was under the hood so to speak, I changed out the OEM BATTERY WITH A TITAN 8 LITHIUM TITANIUM OXIDE. XS Manufacturer. This is the RSV-S5-30Q 12V BCI Group 30/30L, Lithium Titanate Powersports Battery Reserve Modules - Designed for Peak Capacity This Titan8 Series Lithium Titanate Oxide (LTO) series uses a cell that is designed to maximize capacity and deep cycling abilities. They have double the amount of storage energy as the PWR version but only half of the instant discharge energy 1,355 amps of the PWR. This gives it double the capacity rating, but half of the wattage rating. The CCA is THUS 600 and it has significantly more reserve than the OEM battery. Starts like a trooper.My hand held remote control synced up and works great.

Appreciate the update! Glad to know the siren fits but good call out on the battery tray! Let me know how it goes with the new battery. Harley is still stating that Lithium batteries will not work with these new bikes. Apparently they may not charge while ridding and go flat. All of the HD branded Lithium's note they are not compatible with the new bikes. CRAZY!

@@ITFZone Got back from a 350 mile road trip. Cleaned the beast then put on my 1 AMP HD lithium tender and 35 min later green light fully charged. Every start was very enthusiastic bike ran great and charging appeared to work perfect. HD will not endorse an unbranded 3rd party product. I use Amsoil (better spec) and XS batteries are proven winners when it comes to Audiophiles and their cars, trucks and bikes.

@@hollywoodboggie You are correct that HD will not endorse anything not theirs but they are noting for their branded Lithium batteries are not compatible. Also Ryan Urlacher ran into an issue with his Lithium failing and HDMC confirmed for him anyhow that Lithium batteries are not charging. SO I am for sure not trying to disagree with you, the idea of a Lithium makes total sense for these bikes but I would say if it took 30 min with your 1am right after a ride that is a little long to get back to full. Mine takes a bit but more like 5 min. Just something to pay attention to for a bit.

@@ITFZone Noted and will observe thanks. I would add that my road trip included me using: Navigation plus Apple Car Play for 5 plus hours. According to the HD manual at page 78 : "The voltmeter (1) indicates the measured electrical system voltage. With the engine running above 1500 rpm, the voltmeter registers 13.0-14.5 V with battery at full charge." My system was sitting at 13.5 V for most of the ride. It would peak at 14.5v output shortly after each starting but after some time the needle would idle at the 13.5v mark. I submit for your thoughtful review. 6 plus hours of Infotainment and NAV draw plus several stop / starts: If the output needle sat at the "full" category despite the battery not charging: I would have had a major issue. Telling too would also be if my 1 AMP charger stayed on for say several hours on my return. I am assuming as you have the OEM AGM battery you use a 5 amp charger? Before the swap out, I used my HD 1 amp charger on my AGM and on return from a ride it would take some 30 min to go green. I am familiar with Ryan's issue and note the Lithium he used was identical to the one I was running in my 2008 Heritage before buying the SG. The V2 Lithium excellent but it does not have the reserve capacity and charges slowly. Bottom line: I totally respect your concerns and care. I hope I have read this issue properly and time will tell. As guinea pig I will keep you posted. Thanks Bro!
@ITFZone
@ITFZone 36 минут бұрын
@@hollywoodboggie I am using the stock AGM with the same 1amp charger. My experience has been that right after a ride I get a solid green fairly quickly. While you are in range at 13.5 I know mine is always in the 14+ range. I completely agree your batter should work and work better than the AGM. It is telling however that Harley's stance is Lithium will not work with the latest version of their bikes. Hopefully as we get to the 2025 models we will know more. Thus far there is no official service bulletin on the issue but it is odd! Keep me updated!

thanks for the video. I am on the recall notice. I did read the article in a major news outlet saying that out of 40k bikes they have had 9 line rubs triggering the recall. NO accidents based on this recall! Just planning to go out to the Arkansas Ozarks for a few days in two weeks and based on the odds I do not see a reason to change my plans based on this recall. I do not see line rub but as these bikes get used/miles go on I guess it could start rubbing at any time. I may ask Pig Trail up there in Arkansas to check it out while on my ride. Got 3k on the bike and just put on my skid plate (glad I did....I can see hitting some tire debris and getting it slapped up on those exposed pipes). Sorry for the long comment....as for HD being junk because of the recall I was looking at a BMW R 18 and that was also recalled....so I guess a bike gets a recall and its junk per some of these comments.....The GW I was looking at got one as well....junk as well?

Hello! I would take a quick visual inspection before your trip but I agree this recall is not a stop riding the bike and enjoy the trip. Recalls have become the norm for really any motor vehicle which is unfortunate. I do think Harley has an issue with the wiring harness redesign and how it is routed on the bike. I would like to see more robust protection of the harness as now with the 3 major computers on the bike everything depends on the wire being good! Instead of tesa tape wrapped wires running along the frame possibly more running through the frame instead of on it.

I really like the Gerbing solution you found. I can use that cable plus the battery tender usb adapter to power my Maedhawk Bluetooth using the heated gear adapter as you have shown. I’m think I really should add a fuse in that line since it appears the Harley heated gear cord is not fused (I assume). I have Tourmaster heated gear and a fuse is part of the connection provided with the gear. I don’t see any fuse on the bike labeled for the heated gear cable. In fact, there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of fuses on my 2024 Street Glide.
@ITFZone
@ITFZone 5 күн бұрын
Fuse is not a bad idea but adds to your amount of cords. In theory if the adapter shorted it wouldn't draw enough to create a fire hazard BUT I for sure don't disagree in the safety aspect of using a fuse. The heated gear is fused at the block. You are correct there are way less connectors and fuses with the new harness but MANY electrical issues with these new bike. Mostly to do with how the harness is secured to the bike.

Additionally, the USB-C port indicates 100W, which should be for power output and supports fast charging, while the USB-A port is only for data transfer, and using it for charging would have little effect, just keeping the device from shutting down.

Hello! The trick is that you need to convert from SAE to USB and currently this is only offered as SAE to USB A and not C. The headset adapter is also currently only offered as USB A so for a headset option this works out as in the video. However if you want to use this port to charge something that is USB C you would have to use an A to C adapter, you will for sure still have enough watts and amps to charge a phone with the adapter. I own a 2020 m8 softail m8 low rider s and the bike comes with usb female plug equipped from the factory. Which is nice but problem I have is that I have three devices attempted to charge while I am riding. One for one cell phone that I use on my cardo intercom for music I listen to, two, my other cell phone glfor gps, and third, my gopro camera mounted on my handlebar. Currently, I am using splitter with three heads. Works sometimes but not consistently working as I find time to time. Can you advise n give me some suggestions? Appreciate your feedback.
@ITFZone
@ITFZone 7 күн бұрын
Hello! I suspect you are running into an amperage issue. The factory USB just does not have enough power behind it to successfully split with enough amps at each port to charge devices. You are probably getting .5 an amp on the other 2 ports. The option is to run something off of the battery but you would want a switched option. You might look at tapping an accessory fuse, look for the P&A label on the fust block and use something like this: amzn.to/3XSWf3x and then use the SAE to USB adapter in my video.

OR. ,,,,B. the more likely senario no major damage in which case the Dealer can do the tie back fix under warranty BUT I will at my cost authorize an extra hour of labor to carefully review all wiring and all restraints to make sure all is well. No rewiring per se but just a healthy check on condition supports and such. What do you think Bro?

@@hollywoodboggie Really depends on how much you trust your Harley dealer. For me I have to inspect for myself so I know the condition of the harness. If you have a good relationship with your dealer and trust the technicians it is a worthy investment considering the challenges thus far. I might ask for some photos from their inspection.

Thanks again Tom, but if I run into this issue it's going to the dealer. That repair procedure is above my pay grade. 😂

LOL! The steps are confusing and for sure you want this recall documented by a dealer.
