A ton of people would have bought the Djokovic spec racquet purely for the sake of having it. And I'm sure a lot would have even used it in matches. When you look at federer and nadal special versions, djokovic's would actually be more normal than the others in terms of beam width - it would be more familiar for a lot of players compared to the really bulky feeling Rafa Origin

In stock form it can be whippy but I still prefer the Blade by far. At the same weight 305g Blade is way faster. Speed is slow and it’s funny to say that.

Why would they manufacture a racquet spec that's unknown and could play awful... It just makes zero sense for Head to lose money from production costs for something that would sell only a handful to a bunch of clueless fanboys

It’s just my feeling every time I play with 2022 and 2024 Speed MP. Probably the location of the sweetspot a or head shape. I don’t really know. But it only happens on two handed backhand.

The crisper response could be based on less abortion of radiation , which produces heay that softens the frame . The gloss or wrap reflects light back vs a matt finish , making the eye see more creating a lighter look and feel . It can be a neuro muscular fake out by design . 18x19 grommet creation cut into profits for head on a limited edition on a 98 or cannibalize on sales of theirv100 .

@@tomathome77 fed actually used the RF97, Rafa uses an aero pro drive which is close to the pure aero origin. The speed is a million miles away from a customised liquid metal Radical that it just doesn't make any sense to do a speed with his specs.

They're asking for a racquet with Novak's specs - they could literally just call it the Head Legend and keep Novak's preferred black colour scheme + his specs. That's what people wanted and are disappointed they didn't get. Will soon be too late to release one for Novak as once he's retired his name will gradually lose its capital

Could the difference in feel be explained by QC issues? I've heard another youtuber testing 2 head extreme tours with same strings, and noticed that one extreme had a firmer feeling over the other

It possibly be a paintjob. Normally glossy paint feels firmer than velvet finish. I don’t think it’s a QC because the two rackets are identical in spec.

@@tantennis I was thinking more about QC of the layup, the amount of auxetic for example, I wouldn't know if that is actually imposible, but there are more variables in the manufacturing of the racquet than just specs

the point is they finally had a reason to produce an actual spec putting his name on it since us all tennis fans knows it’s a paint job , and they blow it with another endorsed line , I am a big Djokovic fan and once I know they released another endorsed paint job I am sick and drop the speed line , the only chance to make things sound better is head speed legend with Novak specs, where they should have just made another high end expensive model instead of destroying earth with frames no one play like 104” , TEAM , team L version of those garbage frames Besides what Speed Mp on earth is related to Djokovic anyway

I wish Head would stop promoting the Speed line with Novak. It is misleading. He does NOT use a Speed. He uses pro stock PT346.1 in an 18x19 95” head and is similar to a Radical mold and nothing like a Speed.

@@tantennis Agreed, 99% use pro stock molds but what they endorsing is in the same family. Novak’s is not even close. The rumor is that when Novak came to Head, Murray was already endorsing the Radical line so they created the Speed line for Novak even though he wasn’t using anything close to it.

It makes no business sense for Head to alter any of the specifications, but it makes great business sense for them to release a special edition with only a new paint job. Unique paint jobs sell racquets. While I understand it's nice to have a click-baity title, Head makes no claims this is anything other than a new paint job and therefore the "Scam" title is very unfair: Definition of Scam: a dishonest scheme; a fraud.

Agreed, they didn't put out anything misleading. It is a "special edition" because of the logos and paint job. Not a scam at all. I bought one because I like the Speed MP, and enjoy the cosmetics of it. I knew perfectly well what I was getting.

They did not name the racquet "Novak Djokovic Signature" model, It's still clearly named a Head Speed. Nor do they suggest anywhere in their marketing this is the racquet used by Novak Djokovic, it simply has his signature and they literally paid for that right. Listen my intent is not intended to be attacking you, it's just that "Scam" is a highly inflammatory term and wholly inaccurate.
