Hi:) Great review! I have Magnum from 5 years and i'm happy with, but now as i'm advancing i'm considering to switch to Rebels e-SL Pro - is it a big difference between, and it this a good idea to do? Thanks
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials 8 ай бұрын
It's a decent difference with the turn shape and build. If you are looking to build on the short turn aspect of your skiing, this is a necessary move.

Hi, Great review! I'm 176cm tall and 93 kg weight, should I go 177 or 170cm?
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials 9 ай бұрын
I'd go 170 in that ski--stuff like this rarely skis good above head high--you need to take advantage of that shorter radius and use the ski how it's intended.

what length would you recommend for 5’6 (168cm) and 58 kg, advanced skier who is trying to use these skis to horn his skill for instructor’s course? What other skis are comparable in this category that I should also consider? I am looking at Dynastar master slalom, volkl deacon 72, and Blizzard firebird src. Thank you for an awesome review. Pumped again for upcoming ski season!

I'd say this Magnum is on the less-race oriented side of the spectrum, so for your application, I'd say it's better. Deacon 72 is right there with it, though! For your stats, I'd think the 156 would be the way to go in this ski.

Question please - Im currently riding a Head eshape V10 on the east side of Canada not big mountain. v10 is a bit too wide for carving with 85 width. I'm thinking of getting emagnum or redster G9 but G9 has a pretty big radius. What's your recommendation or you have something better for me?
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials 9 ай бұрын
You could also go with the V8 that's the same build but narrower than the V10. The Redsters are getting into the race world, so if you're looking for top speed and incredible performance, that's the way to go. Magnum is somewhere in the middle--burlier build than V8 but a shorter turn radius than G9, so you're able to control the ski a bit easier.

Great review! Im thinking about getting one of these but I’m a bit unsure about the right ski length. I love carving and also planning to do an instructing course. My height is 187cm and I’m 87kg. Would you recommend the 170 cm long over the 177 one? Thanks in advance!
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials 10 ай бұрын
I'd recommend the 177. The radius is on the short side, and going shorter only accentuates that arc. If that's your aim, I do think the skis will be stable enough, but if you're looking to mix up turn shape and style, then I would think the 177 is a better option.

Hey, what skis should I choose? Forza 60 or Magnum. I am 55 years old, height 185 and 96 kg, intermediate level. I'm looking for easy and fast skis that turn well. thanks for the help.
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials 8 ай бұрын
The Magnum is a bit more precise and reactive than the Forza, which is an easier turning ski at both initiation and completion phases. If you're looking for easy and fun turning skis, I think the Forza makes more sense--still a ripper when put on edge!

Great ski! Looking on E-Magnum and Deacon 72 what is main difference and which ski gives more for intermediate to advance skier? Thanks
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials 10 ай бұрын
The Deacon has some tip and tail rocker to it while the Magnum is very much flared out at the ends. This makes the Magnum just stick to the snow like glue while the Deacon has some more life to it. I'd say if you're looking for the more energetic ski, the Deacon 72 is the way to go.

I'm a long-time subscriber to your channel. Great review as always! My kids are in the local slalom club and since I'm driving them there every weekend I thought I will join them for practice. I need to replace my all-mountain skis with something more suitable though. Will Magnum work both for slalom practice and agressive carving at speed? And how will they behave late in the day when the slopes get choppy? As an alternative I'm looking at the e-SL which also looks great.
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials 2 ай бұрын
Thanks! I think the Magnum works great at 72 mm underfoot with more of a slalom cut. The Original is more to the side of the e.SL without the full-on race construction, so that might be a good middle ground. If you're mixing gate practice, on-trail carving, and late-day piste conditions, though, it's nice to have that extra width underfoot for a balanced platform. Stockli Laser SC and Volkl Deacon/Peregrine 72 are two other great options in this range.

@@SkiEssentials Great, thanks! When you say "If you're mixing gate practice, on-trail carving, and late-day piste conditions, though, it's nice to have that extra width underfoot for a balanced platform", you are referring to the Magnum, correct? I'm 187cm tall and 80kg. Advanced skier. Is 170cm going to be too short you think? Should I better go for 177cm? I'm thinking 170cm would be better for gate practice, but I'm concerned it will be too slow and too nervous compared to 177cm when doing on-trail carving.

@@BeautifulKrk Yes referring to Magnum or other skis of similar width. I think 177 is the way to go here as the 170 will feel short.

Great ski! I have been renting this ski for the last 4-5 years. Different lenghts 163 and 170 sm. Last year however I have tried Head i-race 165 (2021-22) model and was amazed. Now however I am looking to buy a new ski and the choise is hard. One is more versitile ski, other is more pleasant in right condidtions. Options are: Head e-Magnum 22/23 in 170sm or Head e-Race EVO 23-24 165sm. Skier type: 15+ years of experience seasonal skier (at least 2 weeks per season), carving lover, high edge angles. Mid 30s, 180sm, 70kg. What would be your recommendation?
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials Жыл бұрын
It's tough to go against something you know you love. The e-Race sounds like it's more up your alley than the Magnum. Even in that shorter length, you're getting a whole lot of performance and carving capabilities.

I’m about to head out to Canada for my first season as an instructor. I’ve heard really mixed reviews out head skis in general. I have been recommended the Nordica Spitfires and Atomic Redisters, as well as these head skis. Anyone have any advice? I prefer a piste ski and like to ski faster with mid-long turns (although I would want something that will suit the needs of instructing at a lower level)
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials Жыл бұрын
Maybe it's different where you're headed, but for the most part around here, first year instructors are either with kids or adult beginners. I would advise getting the piste ski for examinations, free-skiing, and personal use, and of those, the Spitfire 74 was one of the best skis we were on this past season--love that thing. Secondarily, find a twin tip around 88 mm to use as a teaching ski--something you don't mind getting beaten up.

Is the spitfire 74 better than the Head Supershape E Magnum? And how is it different?
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials Жыл бұрын
@@ojorgensenThey occupy very similar realms in the ski world. Both use tech filtered in from the race room and both operate in medium-radius turns very effectively. I found that the Spitfire feels like a more confident carver when it comes to linking energetic turns while the Magnum isn't quite as poppy or agile.

It's not that they're that difficult, but expert skiers will be able to access the height of performance more effectively. They are still short-turning skis so that makes them easier to control.

This is one of the skis i have been looking at to get. I used to ski nordica dobbermann slalom pro, where i really enjoyed the poppy feel the skis had, however did dislike that it felt quite unstable at higher speeds. I have considered this one as i have heard it is more stable, but am afraid the ski will be lacking in performance and just be a bit dull to ride on. I orignally wanted the e-race but they are unfortunately out of sale. As i love dobbermann i have also been considering them again, but opting to the multigarra as it would be more stable. Im going for my level 3 this season, so can handle a ski, and wouldnt wanna settle with the e-magnum if it doesnt perform
