Morning Tony, I have a 22 plate DCT Non-Tour and think it is utterly brilliant. With Car Play, the sequence of start bike, connect headset (Ultimate Ears earplugs) then plug phone in, must be religiously followed. If you go inside you run the risk of breaking the Bluetooth radio link from bike to headset thus needing to start over. Great video, thanks.

Nice one Tony. Thank you. The Goldwing has always been my retirement bike dating back to the late 80’s. At 50 something, I’m still holding onto my sports bikes. However, as a proud Australian, where our Superbike Champion has also won the battle of the baggers on an Indian has made me think about what HRC could do with the Goldwing to compete against the equivalent HD and Indian baggers as weights and engine displacements are similar. Would love to see one of these with all the racing stuff thrown at it as Troy does race for Honda in Australia and he’s the perfect size for baggers being above average in height which is needed to keep these beasts as upright as possible. 🤔

Great bikes. I chose the previous gen for both price reasons and bigger luggage and comfort for two-up touring. No interest in dct either. Absolutely love the thing and find it feels not as top heavy as previous steeds such as Fjr1300s and MG Stelvio Ntx. No bother two-up fully loaded on gravel and fairly hard pack trails in Spain (any tougher and i wldn't ride 2up even on a lighter bike). By far my fave bike ever after having everything from busas and blackbirds to triumph tigers, fireblades, gsxrs, Africa twins etc.

If it’s anything like my Street Glide was, the CarPlay is sensitive to the order in which you connect everything. From memory you had to turn ignition on, turn Sena on then plug phone in. Any other order and it wouldn’t start CarPlay, so if the phone was already plugged in to the bike when you started it the CarPlay wouldn’t work. The correct order would work every time. I might have the correct order mixed up but a bit of experimentation will probably point to the right answer.

Although the price sounds hefty it’s not overpriced if you consider what sort of technology and riding sensations it provides. I wonder if it would be a good choice vs a big adventure bike as the only bike in the garage to do everything, touring, a bit of commuting, weekend blasts? What holds me back is that I ride a lot in the mountains and I don’t know how good such a big bike would perform in the twisties?

I adore the Goldwing, one of the few modern bikes that actually interest me, especially the Bagger! (Yes, a 23 year old is saying that) Out of curiosity, how are the headlights at night/difficult conditions? A lot of bikes nowadays struggle to get headlights right (let alone tail/brake lights), which is where companies like Denali come in to flood the road with lights that are probably a bit much at times

The real question is whether the 'Wing is dead. They haven't announced a new 2025 version, and that leaves us with the current 2024 bike which I believe is Euro 5 compliant, not 5+, and as such cant be sold from January 2025.

yet....its an important model for Honda, so i'm sure there will be something coming. Its been the case that most manufacturers are increasing capacity to be able to eek out performance given the emission restrictions. This could play into the wings hands, and require less of a 'tweak'?

My fish and chip shop is 2 km return from home, I don't take my bike, I take my mobility scooter instead, it has a 150km range, and goes 15kmphr, it is the best chip shop runner out there. Iconic machines, fabulous long-distance capabilities. Indeed I have owned 2 over the years. However, (and it is a *big* however) in my opinion they are now almost pointless on the ram-packed roads of the UK. Sure, you can filter, but not in the same way as I can on my NC750X. Sure, it's frugal for its size, but my NC750X does 100mpg on a run. Yep, it *does* handle, but believe me you have to be extremely competent to get the best from it. Whereas my NC loves twisty lanes. So, ultimately I became one of the many many people who say "I used to own a Gold-Wing". Throw in the now ludicrous cost and if I am going to spend that amount of money on a 'plaything' I would choose a decent Bentley Continental every time. The only way I would consider a G-W would be if I lived in the USA, where long straight empty roads abound.

In Paris there’s a taxi service to Paris CDG airport on Goldwings. They’re the fastest way to get (with handlugagge only) to the airport in time. It’s insane at what speed they filter through the gridlock Péripherique (the ringroad motorway around Paris), I ride a Ninja 1000sx and have to let them pass as they progress faster than me

Width wise theres not much difference (the wing is 6cm wider) but the length is also a contributing factor. In most traffic I found it OK, its only when you start squirming through city traffic it becomes an issue.
