Thanks Joe, I just got a 2025 Ridgeline RTL and glad I got it. I was planning on getting a Tacoma but the test drive, comfort, and power of the RTL sold me. At 70 I wanted comfort and the dual tailgate, and trunk were also a big selling point. Others with Fords and Chevy's laugh at it saying it's not a real truck I think only because they don't want to admit it. My nephew just got a Toyota Tundra a month before I got my truck and had to bring it in for engine trouble already. That was very disapointing news since Toyota has always been very dependable. Yesterday (Thanksgiving) we compared each others trucks side by side. Where his is a lot bigger and he put bigger tires and a 2" lift kit and is meaner looking he doesn't have as many options in it that I have and he said my leather bucket seats were far more comfortable than his and he didn't have the same dual tailgate feature, no sunrooof, and didn't have a trunk. He also wished he had a trunk also. I think he said he didn't have the phone charging pad as well. My last truck was a Chevy but rusted out fast on me. My Ridgeline is loaded with power. The V6 with dual exhaust and a 9 speed transmission puts out 280 HP and came with a tow pkg and can haul 5,000 lbs. All those Chevy, Ford, and Dodge owners can say whatever they want. I'm not out there to impress anyone. I'm 70. Yrs old and bought this Ridgeline as my last vehicle because I know it will far outlast me (and all those Chevy, Ford, and Dodge trucks, maybe even the Toyota's)

I have recently leased a 2025 RTL Ridgeline. While I have only had the truck for a few weeks, I am so glad that I chose it. The ride is smooth and not at all truck- like, which makes sense since it is basically an suv with a truck bed. All the features Joe points out in his videos are spot on and I concur with his assessment of his truck. At this point, of all of the good things about it, there is one minor issue that I have found. While the center console is deep and has lots of space, when the arm rest lid is opened, it does not flip straight up and leans at an angle making it difficult to comfortably reach into the well. Other than that, all is well with this vehicle, and I would highly recommend it.

I had a 2001 S10, 2006 Tacoma, and a 2012 Tundra. Now i have the 2025 Ridgeline TRL. Ive had it since mid December. Honda really knocked this one out of the park. My son will be driving in a couple of years and i feel better about it, with the safety features. My first car was a Chevy Citation, and i loved it. I feel the same way about my Ridgeline. It feels like its more in line with an El Camino. I watched your other reviews and pretty much feel exactly the same way. Your reviews have been great. It felt more like we are neighbors and you were just talking about your truck. Thank you for sharing.

I like it and at 58yrs old I really don't give a crap what they think. I still go most everywhere they do & FOR LESS!!! My payload, bed space and interior room surprisingly competes w/ them. I do some custom carpentry work on the side, and I have two kids. It can fit full sheets of plywood in the back and has the most spacious, comfortable backseat of all of the midsize trucks I looked at. It has that Honda reliability and checks so many boxes all around. My wife loves it, and my kids love it. I just can’t get over the fact that I feel like I would be buying a second family SUV…. A Pilot with a bed. “The heart wants a Tacoma, but the brain wants a Ridgeline”

I got my RTL 2022 three years ago; it only has 16,000 miles. It's a great vehicle-smooth drive, very comfortable for long drives. Very roomy, especially for big/tall people. The V6 has enough power. It recently gave me 24 mpg on the expressway. I added running boards and a bed cover. Two things I don't like are the GPS-it needs to be connected to my mobile in this model-and the automatic engine shutoff when you stop; its on/off switching is annoying. I just need to remember to turn it off every time I start the vehicle. Other than that, it's a great vehicle. Oh, the sound stereo system is awesome! 😊 Great video, very informative. Thank you.

I bought a ‘24 RTL in September. I enjoy it more each day. I agree with everything you’ve said. I still have my 2007 Frontier. Although there’s a 17 year difference, the ride difference is night and day. Everyone who rides in it, even the back seats say they love the interior and the way it rides. I have the brown leather seats. Never would have thought I’d get those until I saw them in person. They have a richness to them. I watched your video after you bought the truck and it only reinforced the idea that this is the truck that I wanted. The trunk is great for my fishing or golf equipment. Locked away. I can fit two golf bags in the trunk. I use the swing out tailgate all the time. It’s ingenious. Thanks for the video!

It really grows on you once you live with it day by day. I recently bought a New 2024 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition in all Black and I love it. I kept my old 2012 Ridgeline RTL that has believe it or not 314,000 trouble free miles on it. I drive 120 a day back and forth to work and my 2012 is the best Vehicle I have ever owned. I told my wife if this new one is half as good as my old one I will be happy. So far I love my new Ridgeline it's an awesome vehicle. Everyone I have ever known who owns a Ridgeline always falls in love with it. You are 100 percent correct I was looking at a 2023 but I wasn't crazy about those adjustable armrest and the dash. I worked at Honda when they first opened the Marysville, Ohio plant Circa 1981-82. These are built in Alabama which I’ve been to that facility several times in my career after Honda. This was the only truck available within 500 miles of my home. lol. But I'm still pretty happy with the RTL.

I purchased a 2024 Ridgeline Trailsport via trading a 2022 Tacoma TRD off road. Best decision I have made in a long time. Best all around truck for me. I drove a friends 24 GMC Denali last week and even though it is a great looking new body style and a MT truck of the year, I still prefer my Ridgeline. The Ridgeline is quieter, more room, better mileage, no buzzy 4 cylinder and turbos which he has already had multiple recalls on a $58K truck. The longer I have owned this, the more I like it.

First of all, I thank you for your work with those less fortunate. May God bless you in all the good that you do! I am the owner of a 2019 Ridgeline RTL. I also REALLY LIKE this truck. I came from 25 years of 2 Dodge Dakotas, which are similar in size. This truck is so much more useful, better gas mileage, and smooth driving! I thought that the truck was a bit plain too. So I found a Christian owned truck customizing business to help. They installed cool looking "racing stripes" on each side. They also installed running boards and a velcro tonneau cover (like yours). So my truck looks cool, and is easier to identify! My favorite is also the truck bed - swinging tailgate, in-bed trunk, coated bed liner, and 8 cargo hooks! I had center consoles on my Dakotas, and I prefer the sliding console compartment - acts like a table and has a lot of console storage. I also like the adjustable arm rests and transmission stick (no buttons). I also only have a digital radio/MP3 bluetooth player with dials and buttons (no touch screen). So if I was offered a new 2025 Ridgeline as a trade with no additional cost, I would still keep the 2019. What I would like, that the newer Ridgelines have, is the locking tailgate and back doors opening further. As for hauling, I have successfully hauled beds, couches, dining sets, recliners, big sheets of plywood, etc, etc... I have never towed with this truck. I have driven the truck on unpaved back roads, in the mud, and in the snow. It drives great with the AWD! WARNING: The transmission [that my truck has] does burn up transmission fluid faster than expected. I started having some hesitations when driving uphill, around 50K mileage. I found out from another KZbin channel that changing the transmission fluid every 20-40k miles should resolve the issue. It did! Saved my transmission from ruining the torque converter, which has happened to other Ridgeline owners. I plan to change the fluid every 2 years to be safe. There are also 2 recalls on the 2017-2019 Ridgelines - fuel pump and engine piston rod. My local Honda dealership said that there is a back log on parts, and will be contacted when they are in. The fuel pump is over a year old recall and the engine piston rod is recent. I have not had issues with either.

I also am the owner of a 2019 Ridgeline RTL-E. As you stated, the rear doors don't open wide enough but it is a simple fix. Order the same door checkers that are used on the front doors and install them in the back doors. It's a very simple change out and makes a huge difference. Look for KZbin videos on how to do it.

My toolbox took up bed space on my Silverado, so with the in bed trunk (and no need for an exterior toolbox), I have the same cargo area but in a much nicer rig. Joe from one masshole to another let me give you an important piece of advice about these new ridgelines. The have cylinder deactivation + direct injection. In direct injection engines the fuel is sprayed directly into the cylinder and therefore doesn’t clean the intake valves. Unless you are diligent about having the valves serviced (cleaned) carbon will build up and give you issues down the road. Fuel additives won’t work with direct injection because again the fuel bypasses the intake valves. Otherwise a great truck.

I'd like to have one of these but I just can't get past the 30 y/o motor and crappy mpg. Why they (used to be Honda MOTOR Company!) haven't updated it is beyond me. Replaced the timing belt three times in our Odyssey and you could replace the whole motor for that cost now. On the other had it had 250k miles on it. ;) But you can do as well or very close mpg with much larger trucks with longer beds.

The Ridge looks great Joe! and I am jealous of the dashboard and infotainment as mine is the 2018 Ridgeline. But i wouldn't trade my Ridge for any other truck. Please note, if you are hauling a trailer or love to go 4-Wheelin with rock climbing, this is not that vehicle. but the Ridgeline has a great ride, can haul quite a lot in the bed (like a palette of sod), and stays planted on the road thanks to the All Wheel Drive and the torque distribution. Coming north again this Christmas and hoping to finally romp in some snow with my Ridgeline. I am of the same opinion, a hybrid would be the best of both worlds, waiting to see what they do with the 2026 or 2027 model as the new 2026 Passport looks great. Cheers!

I read that Honda has recalled 6 cylinder engines due to failure of main ball bearings. Does this failure affect Ridgeline? Appreciate your review and am considering a 2024 Ridgeline but do not want to buy a vehicle with a defective engine. Thanks

As far as I know, the recall did not effect the Ridgeline. This engine has been in the RL for a decade and has a good track record. I'm not concerned about it.

I purchased it online. Here's a link: www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/oem-parts/honda-upper-trim-71150t6za60 It was super easy to do.. there are a bunch of tabs that pop out and the new one snaps in. Took maybe 10 minutes at most.

Yes, it locks using the fob along with the other doors. However, it can be enabled or disabled in the vehicle settings thru the radio display. Mine came from the dealer "disabled" and I had to go in and change the setting.

I wish Toyota would build a unibody “not a truck” on their grand highlander platform with all the same engine options. I’d get one with their hybrid (35 mpg) awd. I don’t need to worry about towing. I have a 5.7 RWD sequoia with to package.

@ oh good Lord no. I test drove the crv. Felt like a cheap Kia. The pilot is good. But no where near 35 mpg and not as big on the interior as a grand highlander. I feel like Honda is just riding the easy train in regard to their vehicle line up. Minimal effort into engine options, etc.

I test drove a RTL today. Really liked it until I was backing into the parking space and realized the truck doesn't have Backup Warning sounds. Those Warning sounds don't come until you get to the Trailsport or Black trims. Have you missed that?
@randomstuffwithjoe2 ай бұрын
The RTL does have the backup sound. I'm pretty sure the base model Sport does as well. There's a option in the radio settings to turn the sound off. It must have been set to silent in the vehicle you tested.
@MrKnightoflight2 ай бұрын
I have a 2019 RTL, and it does not have the backup warning sounds. I have a 2015 car that does, but it does not have a backup camera. I would rather have the backup camera. So I am good with my Ridgeline.

I haven’t seen anyone commenting about the rear leg room. Ive been thinking about getting a Ridgeline. I currently have a Toyota Tundra double cab. There is no way I could ever fit in the back seat being 6’3”. The rear legroom seems pretty limited. Can you fit a couple average height adult in the back seats? I frequently carry a few of my friends when we go out for breakfast.
@randomstuffwithjoe2 ай бұрын
I discussed the rear leg room in this video and even sat in the back seat while discussing it. You can easily fit 2 adults in the rear seat but 3 would be tight quarters. But everyone’s idea of leg room is different so I’d suggest seeing it in person to decide for yourself.

Nice review. Love these trucks. If I didn’t have to pull a 7,500lb boat, I would buy one. Easy solution to blacking out your chrome trim. Don’t buy replacement pieces, rather spray them with PlastiDip/DipYourCar rubberized paint. No having to remove the pieces either. I did a video on my channel doing my ATV rims. Cool stuff. Hope you have continued good luck with your Ridgeline 👍

I have a 2019 Ridgeline, and get up to 31 mpg on a relatively flat highway with cruise control in the summer. Yearly average is 24 mpg. About 21 mpg in the winter. Very comfortable and smooth ride! Great coated bed with swinging tailgate and trunk! The low wheel wells in the bed allow for a bit more capacity, but the trunk makes the bed a less deep. It works great for me!

Hey Joe , when did you do the first oil change? I have 3500mi on my rtl
@randomstuffwithjoe2 ай бұрын
Its my understanding that every truck is slightly different. The truck sort of learns your driving habits and determines when it will alert you. In order to get the free service that Honda offers during the first two years, you need to wait until your truck prompts you on the dash gauges with 15% oil life left. I think I was at around 4500 miles when mine alerted me. I've now done 2 oil changes and suspect my next one will be around 13k miles.
@pcthayer2 ай бұрын
