The ordinary V6 is a headline feature of this car. Our 2012 Santa Fe with V6 has had zero powertrain issues after 160k miles. We did recently change a headlight, easily done at home.

When locating a cheap, reliable vehicle for a family member, I pointed them to a 2012 Santa Fe v6. This was before Hyundai introduced direct fuel injection (GDI) in their vehicles. Their port injected engines in vehicles from about 2002-2012 were actually very reliable.

We’ve got a palisade and put around 60k miles on it. Zero issues from the v6. Awd system is fantastic, chassis gives some lift off rotation, and it sounds great! For a 3-row, it hustles!

I have a 2024 Palisade AWD Calligraphy. Bought it in November. I’ve had zero issues so far. Which seems to track with CR predicted reliability. Recently completed a 800 mile round trip. Averaged 26 mpg on the trip. Driving around my home city I get 22 to 23 mpg.

So conflicted when it comes to Hyundai/Kia products. On the one hand, they’re at the forefront when it comes to daring design and implementing really solid tech on their interiors and the N products offer fantastic value for what you get. On the other hand, a new recall on a large cluster of vehicles they produced seems like an almost daily occurrence. I know plenty of automakers have recalls, but it seems excessive with their vehicles.

Yeah, the really the same company the always been. However, to entice shoppers they offer attractive designs and features most mainstream vehicle don’t offer, longest reliability, they can copy off other brands, and performance engines that catch fire. They figure they can market that to customers while still being half baked.

Their dealerships are the biggest issue for me. Every time I've wanted to pull the trigger on one, several different Hyundai dealerships gave me excuses on why I can't test drive or they give me the worst possible terms imaginable that forces me to walk out. I don't have these issues with other brands. I've taken it as a sign that I am not meant to buy their cars. The last time I walked into a Toyota, Mazda, and Subaru dealership, I was driving off with my car in 3 hours.

I'm glad that more SUVs are trending towards higher placed DRLs and turn signals, and headlights closer to the ground so they don't go straight into lower cars' cabins.

It's interesting to see the very...soft design language on this interior for lack of a better word. Matte plastics and materials, rounded edges, pretty muted backlighting on buttons...pretty calming and a stark differrence from the hard lines you see on a lot of interiors these days. Our family did a road trip from Copenhagen -> Oslo -> Stockholm -> Copenhagen in a three-row Kia PHEV (forget what model but I think sorento?). The amount of tech and luxury features you get from Kia and Hyundai on these three row SUV's are kinda nuts for the money. The hybrid 1.5l was pretty solid even in an SUV that large, and pretty economical as well but I think I would still prefer this V6- it's probably more reliable and you get a little more power as well i would imagine.

I don’t know if you have tested the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.5t. I feel like after the redesign for this year the Santa Fe gained a lot of weight. You should try it. This video was amazing.

Palisade sweet spot is the SEL-Premium awd. Basically 90% of the features of this Calligraphy for $47k. Plus you can get a 2nd row bench which is extremely rare these days

I love that my 24 elantra has wired carplay. Wireless carplay makes watching the casual youtube video or tiktok scroll unusable due to the audio delay

From the start, Hyundai have made characterful cars. Now, however, in keeping with other manufacturers, including BMW, they make AS MANY MODELS as they can. Cars today, even if they ARE good, are often facelifted in 6 months - as if they were ashamed of the original design. You often don't know what model you are looking at. And so full of gadgets inside, that you need to go on a course for a few weeks, to find out where the windshield wiper switch is. No chance of hiring a car for a 2 week vacation, then. You would have to give the vehicle back when the vacation is over, before you know where those wipers ARE! Designers have too much of a freehand these days. Designing is all for their entertainment, rather owners themselves! Despite the faults, the sunroof is positioned in the perfect position, and is nice and big. And a DIGITAL rear view mirror? Perfect. Should be the law for ALL cars! AND a camera to see the FRONT, for parking! I think a Lexus has it! Too much of a good thing, like most cars. But the makers LIKE that - so they can sell you equipment AS WELL AS CARS. No wonder cars are becoming too expensive for a lot of people! I dislike the interior so much, I would only buy such a tacky interior car, if it came with a special extra! An axe so I could chop up that horrible interior, and start again!

You can definitely tell the european designers influences throuhgout. It's a shame Hyundai/Kia seem to have a poor reputation with reliability.
