Keep sticking to those boundaries. I am not going to be nice about this though, because I know I wish someone would’ve told me this. I set boundaries with my family last year, and it was a gongshow honestly. Family that isn’t used to you setting boundaries can get angry and emotional about that kind of stuff. Don’t take it personally, AND STICK TO THEM. Do NOT let your family guilt trip you out of your boundaries seriously because they are going to try. It’s going to hurt you too and you’re going to feel bad about setting those boundaries but stick it out. It’s going to help in the long run I promise.

I heard a quote once that went like, “The only people who get angry when you set a boundary are those who benefitted from you not having one.” This was absolutely the case when I started setting boundaries with my family, and it became clear very quickly who actually cared about me and my well-being and who didn’t.

Anger is okay, but it goes to your heart eventually. Literally. Anger is so much energy it can fuck with your heart. The step after anger is learning to not give a shit about it anymore. I’m proud cuz I finally got there.

That's such a good point about observing how romantic partners treat others. One of the best ways to figure this out is by observing how they treat service workers. That was always my way of determining who is a kind human and who is plain cruel.

Executive Dysfunction - that's what you mean neuro thing you can't clean. I have adhd w severe executive dysfunction and cleaning is really really hard - but also have sensory overstimulation so can't be in messy spaces. Lol. It's fun!

Emily….i can certainly understand and relate to your in/out list for 2024!!!! Treat yourself well, wake each day with gratitude in your heart and soul. I most surely understand. about the “depression “ room or apartment…im in a one bedroom also and the last year has been a hard one for me…..especially when people around you do not understand and theyve never seen that side of you. Its very hard, even on medications…right now im working thru this issue, trust me, you are not alone….im also so thankful i found you on youtube, you have no clue how much you help me on a daily basis. I rewatch episodes several times during the week, not just to see the makeup, but to listen, really listen, to what you say….i hope that in your heart you can feel the love we have for you. You are a beautiful woman with a beautiful soul and i appreciate you!!! Now….need to make my in and out list for me…..thank you, Elizabeth

I'm with you on the cooking. I have a relatively large kitchen and I still hate cleaning after 😂 Usually I try and make something everyone in my family will eat so I can get them to clean it up for me.

The cleaning trauma is real, dude. Sometimes it's not a matter of discipline but of working through the trauma that was making you freeze. I've had a bit more time to process than you have, and it has gotten easier for me. I hope that, with time, it will get easier for you. I have also had some success with reframing it as an act of self-love: I clean my house because my loved ones and I deserve health and hygiene. I throw out that dust and grime like I'd throw out any Andrew Tate fan. 💀
