Upgraded from an M1 12.9 to the m4 13. The reduced weight has completely changed the way I use it. I can actually use it with one hand now because of the weight reduction. I run my business from my iPad and it can go anywhere with me, it is such a versatile device. Also, I didn’t think I’d enjoy the display as much as I am, but it is definitely a step up from the mini led, although I am a display snob so others might not notice a difference. Also, the battery life is vastly improved when watching videos thanks to the OLED display being able to shut off pixels when displaying blacks. I still think iPadOS needs some work, such as a much needed improved files app, but the hardware improvements this generation are very tangible when you actually hold the device.

I purchased the iPad Pro M4 13 inch on Monday, after having used the iPad 3rd Generation 12.9 for the last 4 years. Was totally blown away with the response of loading apps etc. Super super fast. Fully charged it up overnight on Monday night to see how long I could use it for before charging again. Gave up after 13 hrs of use, only having used 66% of the battery. This compares to when I purchased the 3rd Generation iPad Pro, where I done a similar test, where the battery fully discharged after just over 10 hours of use. I run a 4hr KZbin film on repeat on both occasions. Run with screen on all the time. This is how I always do a battery comparison check when I buy a new iPad or phone. BTW, I now have to recharge the 3rd Generation iPad Pro about every 3 hours now. Time to put a new battery in. With any luck, I’d like to think the M4 model battery will last longer, maybe 5, or even 6 years.

Once again, great review of the device. I had the last version so I was happy for the updated device iPad Pro M4-1 and looked forward to your review. I didn't find the 13-inch screen to visually be that much larger than the 12.9. Yes, the thin-ness and light weight are especially cool but it is also grippier to hold. The iPad Pro and MacBook Air are still competing for my time but I'm now favoring this version of the iPad Pro almost exclusively now. Recently there was a serious issue with the screen. It became dysfunctional last week and blacked out. It showed a few colors on one side of the screen and totally black on the other. Apple says it's a known issue and they immediately replaced the device as long as there is (no) visible damage to the outside casing - indicating that it has been dropped. Apple says if you have this issue with your device you should call and report it right away.

The M4 iPad Pro has renewed my love of the iPad (I have used since 2015), the function row on keyboard has made a surprising difference, while the new thinness really does make it feel like a magic pane of glass. I use mine for office work, leisure such as KZbin, photo editing and playing music. I use on keyboard, in folio case and just as tablet with pencil. It is my favourite device. Just the lack of certain specific software stops me replacing my MacBook Pro. As the missing software is from third parties, not really Apple’s fault. I am generally quite happy with iPad OS and am not one of those people wanting macOS.

My opinion is M1 is the current best buy. Until Apple adds significant desktop features that merge the iPadOS nearer to a Desktop OS then M4 makes little real difference despite the awesome hardware in raw performance which comes with raw price too. Plenty of people say they're still happy with their 2018 iPads also tbh. Obviously Apple Intelligence is only coming to M1 and above iPads so again that's another reason why Apple M-Series M1 is the sweet spot.

The phone is just that, to make and receive calls or function as a modem. Beyond that, I inclined more towards the iPad and it is far superior in everyday use than a MacBook. I use the iPhone because the market is very adapted to cell phones, but as soon as I can, I will buy another iPad with a cellular chip and I will use the iPhone much less. This is where foldable phones have their reason for being and now I understand it. By the way, a 60hz phone? It is impossible for me now. Greetings Aaron. 👍🏽

6 to 8 hours run time is really bad if consider that battery run times used to be one of the selling points of tablets over laptops and smartphones as they simply lasted longer. Now we have smartphones, almost the size of entry tablets 10 years ago but they habe runtimes of 15 to 20 hours. I really wished, the kelt the ipad as thick as it was and use the extra space for extra battery capacity. Considering the power of the ipad, the efficiency is great. The battery simply can’t keep up.

@Apticx12 күн бұрын
It feels almost identical to the original glass screen writing wise. it is slightly more paper ish but i wouldnt call it even remotely close to paperlike. it still has that glass feel BUT the weird inconsistencies with the hand oil spots are entirely gone. it all feels entirely uniform and quite a bit more controlled. also it feels way better to touch and it leaving almost no fingerprints it is quite a upgrade in my book. Using it almost exclusively for drawing i wont go without the nanotexture anymore. its a huge upgrade and considering i replaced my paperlike every 1-2 months (sometimes even 2-3 weeks depending on the use) its even a "cost saving" point after a year of use or so. Visually you shouldnt think about it. everyone talks about contrast and color and sharpness but having both side by side its pretty much only noticable if you have them next to each other and look really closely in a dimm room. everywhere else you cant tell the difference but reflection wise i probably wont need to tell you which one wins In the end. Paperlike makes the ipad screen look shit and its costs a lot because you need to replace it a lot to stay clean while the nanotexture has none of those issues while not feeling as rough as the paperlike. id say. go for it. i wont be looking back

Logitech, but they arent much cheaper

@@zollotechand they're heavy (i had the two part model) and badly made (all the speaker port areas stretched). Went back to Magic for the M4.

I don’t know why I think, but I think M2 iPad Pro speakers sound better

They probably do. One can't get away from physics.Too small a foam factor for good bass.

I don't know why people should have a iPad? For what? Maybe just switch the iPadOS to macOS make it more useful? Like the surface book and surface pro running the similar or exactly the same windows experience. Just merge them iPadOS with macOS make it a real computer OS.

The pencil always fall when the Magic Keyboard is closed… bummer

Sadly this thing is like a Bugatti in a 30 km/h zone... A lot of power but almost no use case

I feel if you're going to use it with the Magic Keyboard, why not just use a MacBook Air like I am using? (15" M2) It has a larger screen, great sound and an excellent keyboard and trackpad for less than the iPad. It has a better OS too, but no touch screen of course. I guess I dont feel like I need an iPad...

For me the benefit of the iPad over the MacBook is the touchscreen and the ability to pull the screen forward for easy touch. I really like scrolling with my thumb. In fact. When I use a MacBook, I sometimes forget and touch the screen. I also like that it has the cellular option. It makes mobile use really effective. The screen on the M4 iPads is also incredible - great if you need to use it outside too.

@@guycortesi thanks. I haven’t seen the M4 iPad up close. I’ve just heard about the screen. I’m a first time Mac user- I’ve had it for a year and I love it. Of course it would be better with a touch screen like a Windows pc, but of course they don’t want to cannibalise iPad sales!
