Thank you, Kelly. I found your you tube channel Monday and have watched 3 videos so far. I wished I had found you a year ago when I returned to sewing and quilting. I love the way you teach. You are direct and to the point and make no assumptions about skill level. You demonstrate what you are doing, then give details and tips during a fast forward finishing the step. This allows me to absorb all the information: the physical demonstration and the tips.

I had the tl2010 and then gave it to my granddaughter and now have the Janome 1600p. I wish I would have known about this Juki.

@@pickinstitches I like it. It’s a nice machine but I think I would trade it for yours except that I have the table that it fits in.

When you switch the thread to the glide gray thread is that for piecing or free motion quilting?
@pickinstitches
@pickinstitches Ай бұрын
I do both. I try to piece the whole quilt with the same thread, so typically I piece with the Cario Cotton (1/2 the price of Aurifil) and then swap to the Glide 40wt poly or 60wt poly. But you can totally piece with the Poly too. Im not sure why so many people are still scared of it. Its not as harsh as it used to be in say the 90s and will not 'tear' through your cotton fabric as in days of old. -Kelly

@@pickinstitches I think that the Polyphoria (scared of polyester thread) is a psychosis that needs treatment. I piece with 80wt Wonderfil Decobob which is as strong as 50wt. I also use it in bobbin and use it for quilting. I use Dove Gray which will now show up even on piecing blacks and blues because it is so fine. The Glide 60wt would also be a beautiful option. These finer threads will make your piecing lie flatter--particularly if you are sewing many-seamed blocks. I will NEVER go back to cotton thread.

Hi Kelly! Thanks for the add on the FB group. Just found your KZbin and have watched 10 episodes. Love the way you educate. Would also love for you to share more about your longarm learning journey. I was just gifted an older model Gammill and am looking for content on longarm machines. 🪡
