When Kawasaki first announced their new 451cc Parallel Twin motor, we couldn't wait to get our hands on one for some testing. Using our Ninja 400 WORX platform, we knew that the new Ninja 500 would be just as robust and welcoming to aftermarket support but, where does this stack against the 400? Stay tuned to find out!

I’m sold & will be purchasing a ‘24 Ninja 500 non ABS in “metallic spark black “ @$5399 MSRP plus fees & tax still that’s a GREAT deal for an “everyday” sport bike! I’m 42 & definitely not a beginner but I think this a motorcycle than people of all ages can enjoy!

I'm looking hard at the Z500. Was thinking about the new MT09SP but they're going to be a pain to find and the dealers in Northern California will try to rip me off with markups. Plus the Z is 60 pounds lighter and less than half the price. I already have a Multistrada 1200 if I want to go fast or far, I'd just like something light to chase around in the mountains.

When I had my ninja 400. I dropped around 30 pounds. Went with aluminum sprockets. Lighter chain. Rear break assembly and reservoir delete. Even the disk delete. Lighter battery , no seat cushion. Put lighter rims on. Full system sc project SC1M exhaust. Block off plates , removed airbox and used a carbon fiber one. Lighter. Removed the signal lights. Velocity stacks , tune. I got it to 53HP. Now with 30 pounds less weight and all that unsprung weight difference and me weighing only 135 with gear on. 125 without. I was surprising alot of people. My 0-60 was 3.8 - 4.0 My 0-100 was 9 flat give or take. My 0-126 max speed was under 25 seconds. This ninja 500 will be able to do it quicker. Can't wait to build it and post results

The results 2WDW has gotten with this bike are pretty significant. It puts down more power than the old EX500 Ninja from years back, but doing it with 47cc less. I'm guessing some developed velocity stacks would aid the top end on this, without much of a penalty down lower.

Have you noticed any burping back through the intake/throttle body/air box on the new 2024 ninja 500? Mine burps when blipping the throttle sometimes, and sometimes it even makes the engine turn off.. Was hoping you would know of some sort of problem with these doing that.. As we know this could be a intake valve problem.. But i seem to think this couldnt be the issue, being the bike is brand new, and to note, it did it first time i touched the throttle at the dealership, the sales man told me, its because the bike wasn't warmed up yet, well it does it randomly even after its fully warmed up.. sure hope you know what this could be other than a valve adjustment problem.. Thanks

The previous gen Ninja 400's that were bored out to 451cc were making around 60 hp to the wheel with headwork, exhaust and tune. The Superbike spec Ninja 400's ( also bored out to 451cc ) were in the mid to upper 60 hp range. The jury is still out if this bike makes those figures but it reminds me of when Suzuki increased the Hayabusa engine size to 1340cc because most customers and drag bike shops were already doing that.
@aluisious
@aluisious 3 ай бұрын
It won't make those figures because this got another 6.8mm of stroke, the bore is the same. Those power figures you're talking about are coming from high RPMs and the wide bore. Long stroke is done for low end torque. It will not rev up as high because the piston speeds would be higher.
@Tapport
@Tapport 3 ай бұрын
I really appreciate how you broke the numbers down. People just latch onto the biggest numbers on these charts, but there's so much more relevant info about how a bike feels day-to-day in the lower end of the revs. Super excited to see what's coming for this bad boy in the future.

@aluisious

The thing with that torque peaking at 7k is it's going to feel like it's running out of breath when you try to rev it out, and if you shift at 7k, you'll be going slower than if you were on the 400 revving out to 10k. Around town usability, absolutely. Ripping up the canyons or a racetrack? Not as it is stock.

Was noticing the ninja 400 has a 41/14 final reduction ratio while the 500 has a 43/14 with all other gearing being the same 1st - 6th.. Remember watching your videos before i found this out, so now im back to ask, how much would the split between these two effect the dyno numbers? and would the 500 make less power if you put a 41/14 on it, im looking for lower rpm while at hwy speeds, wanting around 4000rpm at 70mph, right now, i can only go 45mph at 4000rpm which is the only speed i can manage 70 to 80mpg, at 70mph im only getting 40 to 50mpg and the engine sounds like its revved to the moon.. idk the rpm as i hardly ever go there! Maybe i can even go to a 41/15? thanks 😀
