Hey, we bought one of these. You can move the floor-board to a down position and it opens up a well like a minivan behind the 3rd seat in the Telluride. It's WAY bigger. I'll put a video up. Drove the EV9 when we picked up the Telluride at the beginning of January. The Telluride is MUCH larger inside. It's immediately noticeable, which they kind of mention. The 3rd row fits adults quite well. The frunk in the EV9 only fits like a backpack. So, the tech in them is AMAZING. It seems like they carbon-copied BMW. All of the configurability of our 2019 X7. Cameras are amazing. Telluride drives PERFECT. We dumped a 2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV after 7 months and 15k miles to get the Telluride and it's as amazing as all the reviewers say. I'm a selective Carguy and it's one of the best vehicles I've ever bought my wife. We put 3k miles on it this first month. It changes lanes on Cruise by itself better than my Model S Plaid. And, IT ONLY COST $53,500 fully loaded including tow package. We were cross shopping with Jeep Wagoneer, Yukon, and TX and I couldn't justify paying the premium after experiencing the Telluride. The Grand Highlander was a contender, but it was BLAND even in Platinum trim, but still cost $8-$10k more.
@klausschwab119 ай бұрын
No way you get rid of a CX-90 for a Kia. That was a poor decision. I work at Kia and they are trash all around. Go ahead and keep it for a couple years you will see. The tech is not amazing like you like to claim, in fact there is nothing special about any Kia. All the tech is available in all the other brands except Kia like to make them "fancy" by putting large screens and piano black trim everywhere. People are so easily tricked. I have over a hundred 2-4 year old Kias with blown engines and electrical issues galore piling up in service because the cars have the worst quality control I have ever witnessed. I have worked around many brands my whole life and Kia is the most awful. Never seen a Mazda with the problems Kia has, or BMW and BMW are not known for reliability these days. Just wait until the electronics like your dash and various buttons start malfunctioning in the Telluride. It will happen sooner than later.

The A4 Allroad didn't compromise much in very many areas, has great performance for a family ICE wagon (0-60 5s, qtr mile like 13.6 at 106mph or something) & still has all the features I want. Personally I think the whole gas vs EV argument is silly. Both have their purpose and pros and cons, I wish the EV fanboys would understand why EVs don't make good sports cars, and I wish ICE fans would acknowledge the obvious benefits of EVs when it comes to daily drivers. I say this as an enthusiast myself, I've owned several manual transmission sports cars including my current c7 Vette. And I'm telling you, when it comes to daily drivers, a well-executed EV is simply better. We have a Jaguar I-PACE EV as our daily driver. This replaced our 970 Panamera Turbo (both of which we bought used btw), a car that most ICE fans would probably agree is a pretty good daily driver in its own right. And I can honestly say the Jag is better in every single way. I don’t miss the Panamera one bit, neither does the wife. With the Jag, there’s no automatic transmission to get confused around town, never getting into a hot or cold car with preconditioning, there’s insane instant torque, the smoothness and refinement is unmatched (not only because no engine noise but also because the 1000 pound battery insulates you from road noise), the use of space is excellent (small on the outside and big on the inside because no engine), low center of gravity, naturally perfect weight distribution, being able to blow by anyone in traffic anytime, never being in the wrong gear, way more efficient, never being late because I had to stop for gas, no maintenance, quicker than most v8 family cars and more efficient than i-4 family cars, etc etc. And even though on paper the panamera was faster 0-60, in real life around town it’s not even close - the Jag would be gone before the panamera would even get into the right gear. Yes, it can be annoying on road trips - but it's not the end of the world unless you road trip all the time. It's the better car 364 days of the year, and the worse car 1 day of the year. Having said all of that, like I said I'm an enthusiast, and we also have two sports cars (manual transmission c7 corvette stingray and an R56 Mini Cooper JCW, both of which I frequently use for road rallys and autocross), and I have no desire for either of those to be electric. The whole point of those cars is a visceral, loud, lightweight, connected experience with a manual transmission. I know there is a Boxster EV coming soon and I’m sure it’ll be great and smoke my c7 around any racetrack, but I have no interest at all, even as a current EV owner. Sports cars should be gas powered and manual IMO. So as I said, each has their purpose. I don’t see myself ever going back to gas for daily driver, and I don’t see myself ever going EV for sports cars. My point is simple: EVs are better at some things, and gas cars are better at some things. "Taking a side" doesn't make sense, even for enthusiasts. Just acknowledge what the other is better at. EVs dont work for everyone (you need a place to charge and can't road trip all the time etc etc), but if it works in your lifestyle - try it before you knock it is all I'm saying. You might be surprised. And like I said - just because a car is EV doesn't make it good. There are good EVs and bad ones, just like gas cars. For example, I' not a huge Tesla fan. But, the well-executed EVs are, in my opinion, the best daily drivers, if they fit into your lifestyle. ...and this is coming from someone that's 37 currently on his 8th manual transmission sports car (Vette, Mini JCW, 350Z, etc etc). And to be clear - these are my favorite cars, not the I-PACE. But, I have a wife and a kid, and we need something that isn't manual and has a back seat. And in that category, the Jag is by far and away the best we've had.
@hacob20049 ай бұрын
Not having to deal with automatic transmissions and having instant torque is probably the number one reason that I'm considering an EV. I still have an older toyota SUV with a five speed transmission and that thing is more pleasant to drive around town than these new cars with 8-10 gears that can't ever decide which one it wants to be in and only giving you like 800rpm from each gear to maximize efficiency.

Waiting for the EV5. It's worth 15k difference. Depends on how much you would use on gas. If it's about 400 bucks a month then yes, in about 5 years you'll pay for itself.

On my Kia ev gt line on a full charge I’m getting 345 miles/555 kilometers of range

As someone who works at a KIA dealer I find that claim awfully ambitious. Best I have seen out of any EV Kia produces is about 270 miles real world range.

@@spacefreeze Computer range and real world range are completely different. I have noticed the computer range will always tell you more than you will get in the real world as it is estimating an ideal driving situation which is still ambitious from all the customers who have driven these things tens of thousands of miles. One guy I know that comes in from time to time likes to talk about his hypermiling experience with his EV6 and he can't get 300 on a charge in the most ideal drive even though his computer will tell him he will get more.
@spacefreeze9 ай бұрын
@@klausschwab11 I’m not hypermiling I don’t know what the other guy is doing but my miles driven have been consistent with how many miles I’m getting on every charge. The car estimates how much you get on how your driving so it’s not gonna give you more miles if you drive like shit
@mjsabie85177 ай бұрын
@@klausschwab11 Range GREATLY depends on driving. It is known that Hyundai/Kia are conservative with range estimates unlike Tesla. If the OP is doing mainly in town commuting for driving I could see this easily. I have a Mach E and will get about 250 miles on the freeway but can get about 400 miles if my wife is just using it to go back and forth to work.

You should also compare estimated total purchase and fuelling and maintenance costs over a 3-5 year period for both vehicles to properly compare the cost between an electric vs gas vehicle.
@Alejandro-ut4up9 ай бұрын
It really depends on your local fuel and electricity. But lets say you are paying $1.30 a liter for gas and 10 cents per kW to charge at home. Telluride would cost 15.2 cents per km, while the EV9 AWD at the EPA rating of 41kW/100 miles(160km) would cost 2.5 cents per km if you mostly charged at home. Assuming your drove the average 24,000 km x 5 years =120,000 km total. The EV9 would save you $15,240 over 5 years. Maintenance for both vehicles should be pretty much similar.

@@Alejandro-ut4up except no oil changes for the EV :)
@mjsabie85177 ай бұрын
@@Alejandro-ut4up How do you figure maintenance would be similar? EV9 will have no oil changes, no brake replacements (if you use 1 pedal driving), no transmission flush, no spark plugs to replace, and no serpentine belt to break (just to name a few)....the only thing that would cost more on the EV9 is the tires and that isn't bad as long as you don't drive like an idiot. I have about 9500 miles on my EV and the tires look great.

EV9 is undoubtedly a great EV suv, but $70k for a Kia is hard to swallow. Also its range is not class competitive. Id rather have a used Rivian R1S for the same price tbh

Most people don’t drive a gas vehicle from full to empty on a single trip. Neither do ev drivers. 99% of evs charge overnight at cheaper hydro rates. The fast chargers are only used in road trips. I can count the number of times I’ve used fast chargers owning evs since 2017, on both hands. Yes there are some that don’t work but you can always find one somewhere that works. I’ve never been stranded on a road trip in my non Tesla ev. Non tesla evs can now charge at some Tesla superchargers, which are fast and always work. The number of superchargers that a non tesla ev can use is expanding across North America

You know whats even nicer....waking up to a charged car ready to go every morning and never having to go to a gas station again. People that complain about EV charging time don't understand how EV's work. With the caveat that you can charge at home. If you don't have easy access to level 2 charging at home or work then EV's are less convinient
