I think it's dumb that the top trims only come with captains chairs. You should be able to option a bench. There are many people who want the top trim with all the goodies and have kids to haul.

I work in the industry for 15 years. It is because 98% of the time these customers demand captains seats. No matter the brand. They also demand other non practical things like large SUVs all the time but I digress. Most of these buyers only haul themselves. They just like to "feel safe"

I own a Telluride and test drove an EV9, overall interior space is near identical, however they chose to increase the cargo space behind the 3rd row in the back of the EV9 at the expense of the 3rd row leg room, and it's the opposite in the Telluride where the 3rd row legroom is great but the behind the 3rd row storage is worse than the EV9

Hey, we bought one of these. You can move the floor-board to a down position and it opens up a well like a minivan behind the 3rd seat in the Telluride. It's WAY bigger. I'll put a video up. Drove the EV9 when we picked up the Telluride at the beginning of January. The Telluride is MUCH larger inside. It's immediately noticeable, which they kind of mention. The 3rd row fits adults quite well. The frunk in the EV9 only fits like a backpack. So, the tech in them is AMAZING. It seems like they carbon-copied BMW. All of the configurability of our 2019 X7. Cameras are amazing. Telluride drives PERFECT. We dumped a 2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV after 7 months and 15k miles to get the Telluride and it's as amazing as all the reviewers say. I'm a selective Carguy and it's one of the best vehicles I've ever bought my wife. We put 3k miles on it this first month. It changes lanes on Cruise by itself better than my Model S Plaid. And, IT ONLY COST $53,500 fully loaded including tow package. We were cross shopping with Jeep Wagoneer, Yukon, and TX and I couldn't justify paying the premium after experiencing the Telluride. The Grand Highlander was a contender, but it was BLAND even in Platinum trim, but still cost $8-$10k more.

No way you get rid of a CX-90 for a Kia. That was a poor decision. I work at Kia and they are trash all around. Go ahead and keep it for a couple years you will see. The tech is not amazing like you like to claim, in fact there is nothing special about any Kia. All the tech is available in all the other brands except Kia like to make them "fancy" by putting large screens and piano black trim everywhere. People are so easily tricked. I have over a hundred 2-4 year old Kias with blown engines and electrical issues galore piling up in service because the cars have the worst quality control I have ever witnessed. I have worked around many brands my whole life and Kia is the most awful. Never seen a Mazda with the problems Kia has, or BMW and BMW are not known for reliability these days. Just wait until the electronics like your dash and various buttons start malfunctioning in the Telluride. It will happen sooner than later.

We've been getting all that fog down here in Ohio too it's been wild. I'm still not ready for an EV tho. The EV9 is kinda ugly imo, but I had really thought my first EV was gonna be the EV6 GT, but ended up going with an A4 Allroad Prestige. The EV6 GT was in my price range but it cuts back on a lot of dailyable features for performance, & just lacks features I want in a daily like Ventilated seats, which is weird bc like 99% of Hyundai & Kia models offer cooled seats, but also no full panoramic sunroof. The A4 Allroad didn't compromise much in very many areas, has great performance for a family ICE wagon (0-60 5s, qtr mile like 13.6 at 106mph or something) & still has all the features I want. It's a smaller wagon but much nicer & larger than my current GT Sport hatchback. Maybe after my lease is up ill start looking into EVs, but as of now I'm still not ready to jump

It really depends on your local fuel and electricity. But lets say you are paying $1.30 a liter for gas and 10 cents per kW to charge at home. Telluride would cost 15.2 cents per km, while the EV9 AWD at the EPA rating of 41kW/100 miles(160km) would cost 2.5 cents per km if you mostly charged at home. Assuming your drove the average 24,000 km x 5 years =120,000 km total. The EV9 would save you $15,240 over 5 years. Maintenance for both vehicles should be pretty much similar.

EV9 will have no oil changes, no brake replacements (if you use 1 pedal driving), no transmission flush, no spark plugs to replace, and no serpentine belt to break (just to name a few)....the only thing that would cost more on the EV9 is the tires and that isn't bad as long as you don't drive like an idiot. I have about 9500 miles on my EV and the tires look great.

It seems to me that, for some reason, very few people are capable of expressing neutral, disinterested opinions on the issue of EV charging and on EVs in general. People whose other expressed opinions suggest they may harbor a general animus toward EVs seem to me to overstate their downsides, while many EV fans seem reluctant to admit everything about them isn't perfect. Personally I think the whole gas vs EV argument is silly. Both have their purpose and pros and cons, I wish the EV fanboys would understand why EVs don't make good sports cars, and I wish ICE fans would acknowledge the obvious benefits of EVs when it comes to daily drivers. I say this as an enthusiast myself, I've owned several manual transmission sports cars including my current c7 Vette. And I'm telling you, when it comes to daily drivers, a well-executed EV is simply better. We have a Jaguar I-PACE EV as our daily driver. This replaced our 970 Panamera Turbo (both of which we bought used btw), a car that most ICE fans would probably agree is a pretty good daily driver in its own right. And I can honestly say the Jag is better in every single way. I don’t miss the Panamera one bit, neither does the wife. With the Jag, there’s no automatic transmission to get confused around town, never getting into a hot or cold car with preconditioning, there’s insane instant torque, the smoothness and refinement is unmatched (not only because no engine noise but also because the 1000 pound battery insulates you from road noise), the use of space is excellent (small on the outside and big on the inside because no engine), low center of gravity, naturally perfect weight distribution, being able to blow by anyone in traffic anytime, never being in the wrong gear, way more efficient, never being late because I had to stop for gas, no maintenance, quicker than most v8 family cars and more efficient than i-4 family cars, etc etc. And even though on paper the panamera was faster 0-60, in real life around town it’s not even close - the Jag would be gone before the panamera would even get into the right gear. Yes, it can be annoying on road trips - but it's not the end of the world unless you road trip all the time. It's the better car 364 days of the year, and the worse car 1 day of the year. Having said all of that, like I said I'm an enthusiast, and we also have two sports cars (manual transmission c7 corvette stingray and an R56 Mini Cooper JCW, both of which I frequently use for road rallys and autocross), and I have no desire for either of those to be electric. The whole point of those cars is a visceral, loud, lightweight, connected experience with a manual transmission. I know there is a Boxster EV coming soon and I’m sure it’ll be great and smoke my c7 around any racetrack, but I have no interest at all, even as a current EV owner. Sports cars should be gas powered and manual IMO. So as I said, each has their purpose. I don’t see myself ever going back to gas for daily driver, and I don’t see myself ever going EV for sports cars. My point is simple: EVs are better at some things, and gas cars are better at some things. "Taking a side" doesn't make sense, even for enthusiasts. Just acknowledge what the other is better at. EVs dont work for everyone (you need a place to charge and can't road trip all the time etc etc), but if it works in your lifestyle - try it before you knock it is all I'm saying. You might be surprised. And like I said - just because a car is EV doesn't make it good. There are good EVs and bad ones, just like gas cars. For example, I' not a huge Tesla fan. But, the well-executed EVs are, in my opinion, the best daily drivers, if they fit into your lifestyle. ...and this is coming from someone that's 37 currently on his 8th manual transmission sports car (Vette, Mini JCW, 350Z, etc etc). And to be clear - these are my favorite cars, not the I-PACE. But, I have a wife and a kid, and we need something that isn't manual and has a back seat. And in that category, the Jag is by far and away the best we've had.

Not having to deal with automatic transmissions and having instant torque is probably the number one reason that I'm considering an EV. I still have an older toyota SUV with a five speed transmission and that thing is more pleasant to drive around town than these new cars with 8-10 gears that can't ever decide which one it wants to be in and only giving you like 800rpm from each gear to maximize efficiency.

It's like Windows vs Mac. Macs work extremely well because everything is built to work within a specific ecosystem, whereas windows, while more open, has to work with tons of different hardware and is more likely to run into issues. Tesla control the charging and the vehicle being charged in the case of superchargers. Although that's already starting to change as they open up to different auto makers but I've already seen issues with non tesla vehicles communicating with superchargers.

Sandy Munro teared down the Ioniq 5. the battery is structured in multiple modules, each easily to replace. easier than Teslas Model 3/Y where the batterymodules are glued to the frame. a damage doesn't require the entire battery to be replaced, only the defective ones. there is no way the battery can cause the insane amount of cost from an engineering standpoint.

Spot on re EV's being not very practical yet; would not have an EV as my only family vehicle. That also really hurts the value proposition for an EV family SUV (where you want it to be a long hauler). Shame about the bad interior UX design; seems to be a trend these days, though. Also would be hesitant to buy any vehicle with subscription services; hard to tell what features you're not buying (but renting instead), and don't trust companies to not screw customers down the road. Absent that and the charging situation, though, the EV9 would be compelling.

It’s impossible to go back to the hybrid/ice cars once you’ve driven EVs. As can be seen here, the powertrain of the telluride is so slow, noisy, and clunky with gear shifts and kickdown, that you immediately go for the ev9 if you can afford it imo.

People that complain about EV charging time don't understand how EV's work. With the caveat that you can charge at home. If you don't have easy access to level 2 charging at home or work then EV's are less convinient

Most people don’t drive a gas vehicle from full to empty on a single trip. Neither do ev drivers. 99% of evs charge overnight at cheaper hydro rates. The fast chargers are only used in road trips. I can count the number of times I’ve used fast chargers owning evs since 2017, on both hands. Yes there are some that don’t work but you can always find one somewhere that works. I’ve never been stranded on a road trip in my non Tesla ev. Non tesla evs can now charge at some Tesla superchargers, which are fast and always work. The number of superchargers that a non tesla ev can use is expanding across North America

The haptic buttons are adjustable, your tester has it set in hard push. I set mine on soft big difference. Also the climate control has a little cross in the upper right when you tap it, the climate controls expand across the whole screen. Once you learn this car, all the technology makes sense. I was also able to get a full electronics and battery extended transferable warranty from Kia for a full 100k miles and 10 years for just $2700.

@@klausschwab11 Range GREATLY depends on driving. It is known that Hyundai/Kia are conservative with range estimates unlike Tesla.
