Han Jisung is the best rapper in the fourth gen. He is the most versatile and complete rapper. Everything from his lyrics, the Wordplay, his rhyme schemes, flow and tone switches is perfection. On top of that, he is arguably the best in freestyle. He is the khiphop level.

I don't know s about rap and even less about Korean rap but when almost every other kpop song rap feels at least a little forced and his just... fits. His rap is...like vocal performance. He plays with his voice like it is a full orchestra. Ive only heard that few times from others (mainly Zico). Han is def my fav Korean rapper that I've hard or know of. That said Changbin can do all of that too and his play on words is as good if not better than Hans. The amount of rhyme schemes he did in s-class and l4... wow. My personal preference goes to Han but probably only because I am in love with his voice. No matter singing, rapping or speaking. Changbins raspy tone can rub me the wrong way sometimes.

In my opinion, the best of the 4th gen is Changbin, he is literally just as versatile as Jisung in terms of lyrics and flows, with the difference that Changbin has a much more unique and remarkable delivery, in any case they are both the best of his generation, but I feel that Changbin has really been the best since 2018, styles like Jisung's are more "common" to find in kpop and Korean hip hop in general, however, I have never come across anyone remotely similar to Changbin, he is simply different from everyone.

what is always to consider is that a lot of these people and soyeon included, are pretty young still. You cant do everything at top tier level, so you have to start somewhere and if she wants to branch out into other languages, she has to learn it some way or another. There's nothing wrong with her English rap. One big problem with K-pop is the solo stans / akgaes. It all started with banal envy. When Soyeon received the < All-rounder > award (and before that she was nominated too), Yuqi solo stans / akgaes began to attack her, flooding KZbin and TikTok with these useless / unprofessional videos comparisons (who is better at vocals, rap and dancing...1,2,3...) with disparagements of her skills. These mentally ill people resumed her as a 'SUPER' dancer and rapper... Sorry, but no. Yuqi is very bad technically both in rap and dancing. This is not only my humble professional opinion, but also the opinion of other professionals related to K-pop. Since recently I have had absolutely zero tolerance for Yuqi solo stans / akgaes too. Just like before, I've had enough of Shuhua & Miyeon solo stans / akgaes freaks (they're the ones who started it) who have been harassing Soyeon for almost six years now. PS. And finally, something positive. In some interview, Soyeon said that her next solo album would be hip-hop. So we're looking forward to it. ♡♡♡

Zico and Mino are definitely the top 2 rappers in kpop. But I feel like a lot of people don't put them in lists like these because they're currently more known for their participation in the k-hiphop scene than k-pop scene. And imo putting them up against kpop rappers is like cheating because they're so good. And Bobby is incredible as a 3rd pick. I've never seen an idol rapper stand on stage and rap with such incredible ease. If I’m not mistaken - None of the XG girls would go above the Solid tier, because they don’t really write If I remember correctly, Maya and Cocona have written Show You Can, but they did that with like 6 other people so it’s hard to only judge „their skill” with that. Other then that, all of them apparently helped with their Galz Xypher verses, but they key word here is „helped”. They most definitely weren’t the only ones that worked on those verses so again, it’s hard to judge them Just my speculation tho haha
@carkpop8 ай бұрын
It's hard to rank XG... they 100% have really high skill raps.. the problem arises in the fact that we truly don't know how much is self written since in interviews they said that they "Helped write the raps" to the girls Xypher .. so we're really left here wondering how much is actually from them.. Just based on skill alone they'd probably go in "impressive" tier somewhere. Harvey (hot take) is probably the best (although she's my least fave personally) ... Maya & Cocona would be similar, and slightly below her also in "Impressive"... and Jurin would probably go in "Solid", but I might have to give them another listen. *Side note* if they wrote 100% of their raps, they'd 100% go twoards the top of impressive and sneaking into the bottom of "More than impressive, but ... alas... it hasn't happened yet

Some people on Reddit were really pissed at this video for saying it's "accurate" on the title. Also very pissed at your system of knocking people down if they haven't done anything interesting recently. But I get why...if you didn't take recency into acc, the list would always be the same and there would be no point in updating it. I only rly stan skz so I'll use Jongseob as an example instead (so I'm not biased there). People were very bothered that he was higher than many 3rd gen big names... now, to me, it doesn't matter that he doesn't have solo work. If you listen to Killin It's verse alone it's undeniable he's insanely skilled and belongs where he is. He stands out in every Piwon song I've heard. Boy is dripping talent, he does more in a few secs than most do in entire songs Accurate tier lists don't exist, but really they're just mad at this list because it dares to put some "unknown" rappers in front of their favs 🙃 They complain you don't take lyrics into consideration as if they're reading any lyrics not written by their favs
@carkpop8 ай бұрын
Yeahhhh I heard about that. I'm doing my best to not give it much more attention than I already have because it's just fans who are upset that "fave ≠ best". Just a few thoughts on what you touched on: - Lol it's hilariously ironic that a huge talking point was "no solos" when half of the people they named don't have any impressive rap in their solos (some without any rap at all). Like, the point completely loses it's basis. - The "Accurate" note is/was clickbait. Thought that was fairly obvious with me immediately saying, "feel free to correct me in the comments with stuff I don't know". - At the end of the day, it's just people upset that their faves from 10 years ago aren't at the top of the game anymore, and instead of embracing the future, learning about the technicalities behind rap, and trying to understand why there are new people they don't know in the "Top Tier", they go straight to flaming me on reddit & proving they're living in 2015 with the idea of "my fave = has to be the best rapper" when it's just not a healthy way of looking at this.
@harveyism8 ай бұрын
imo they're just mad because RM ranked lower than 4th generation idols like Jongseob and Han. They also have this weird "legacy" and "legendary" thing, where that doesn't really measure skills. for example, CL is extremely influential and has inspired all generations since she debuted, but only as a rapper? she is very lackluster.

I’ve always enjoyed NCT Mark’s deliveries and intonation use imo. I think he really emotes with his voice well in raps and on certain verses that I think make pretty standard rhymes and flows more fun and catchy/memorable for a lot of people. I think that’s really where his talent lays. I won’t argue his placement overall but I will say I think here in terms of his deliver, he’s a little underrated. Jack of all trades master of none, sure, but I think out of all those trades delivery would have to be his strongest area so far. Though I definitely think Mark and TY may work best as a duo and I think that’s helped them both in some ways because they bounce off of each other so well it’s impossible to not get hyped when they’re on a verse together. Taeyong is definitely the more underrated out of the two so I was pleasant surprised by his placement here!

Can you explain a little bit more about Taeyong and Mark. Taeyong is my favorite rapper and I definitely think he has caught up to Mark, but your gap between the two feels too big. I think some of Mark's earlier raps (High School Rapper, 1/N with Dynamic Duo, etc.) are nearly on par with some of Taeyong's recent raps. Lastly, I think some people forget that Mark is writing in 2 languages simultaneously (as part of 3 NCT units, SuperM, and solo). That's basically a super power 😂
@Alex3791J8 ай бұрын
I think recency plays a part in the raking so that might be it
@carkpop8 ай бұрын
Sure!! So this gap that you see has kinda been building, and it surprised me when making this but it kinda just makes sense. If anything, I'd say Taeyong is too high compared to Mark being too low... Taeyong might be more towards the bottom of the tier he's in... However, looking at High school rapper ... when you listen to his raps on there, they're *good* ... but it's kinda the same with his NCT stuff, it's *good*, but nothing insane. I can look at all of the rappers above him and think of raps that are on par with what he did on High school rapper. As Alex says above, Recency does play a slight part too, so the fact that HSR was so long ago at this point, and it probably has his best collection of raps overall, that says a bit as well. As for the language thing haha, while I would love to credit that, it becomes a lot more impressive once you start hitting the 4 / 5 / 6 languages in a single verse and even bar... Like, there are a lot of faceless tiktok creators who'll "rank rappers" and put "international rap" as in, "Rapping in other languages" as a skillset when, not only is that not an inherent skill to rapping, but many many rappers on here do it. (It is impressive though and I wish I could do that either way!!). Hopefully that explains it a bit, but I think Mark has become victim to a "Well, everyone says he's good, so he must be good" mob complex, rather than actually looking into his individual verses. (I fell for it too as I used to rank him much higher). *hopefully that answers your question* and explains a bit further. I could definitely see closing the gap by moving Taeyong to like, just above Woojinyoung I think~~

On Soyeon: First, I can understand why you put her down a few places for wanting more rap content. But for me, she didn´t loose her skills cause the last albums simply weren´t about her raps. ON 88rising where there are bad parts she wasn´t in the production team so she propably didn´t had a say. They also didn´t talk often about heat so the fandom has the theory members themselves didn´t really like it. ON 2 the members focused on different aspects of their skillset hence why minnie, shuhua rapped so much in this album an yuqi getting more vocals. Soyeon went there more for vocals as well. The Queencard/ I feel album simply wasn´t rap focused and more in the y2k realm. So the not there raps was to fit the concept better. That ad song and her one award show stage collab in the last year also showed she still has the skills. Raps werent simply her main focus in the last year. She just focused on different skills which is okay with gidle being in their 6th year already. Also, their more than thight schedules AND their schedules bing heavy on their health cause Cube can´t manage them right. Maybe a reason why heat wasn´t at least co produced by them.

i don't think matt was implying that she lost her skills, just that she hasn't done anything super impressive as of late. that doesn't mean she's suddenly unskilled, it just means that she's been focusing on other areas, like a lot of other rappers on this list.
@carkpop8 ай бұрын
I never said she lost her skill ... but to answer this pretty simply; Her purely focusing in other aspects doesn't make her *rap* area pause .. if that make sense. There are quite a few rappers who can pull off some impressive & genius rap spots, while making the most of their opportunity... So let's dive through each real quick; iFeel - There were plenty of raps in there. The problem arises when you look at the raps specifically, they're very standard GG raps compared to her usual techniques. I get it's Y2K themed and not rap focused, but that doesn't negate the fact that the raps she did do really didn't do anything there... HEAT - I know this is a controversial take, but we can't pick and choose what we credit Soyeon with... If she was unsatisfied with her raps on there, I would've hoped that she would've said something about how she was disappointed that she wasn't able to write her own, put the blame on 88rising, or like, have Minnie / other members practice their rap with those parts and not put them under her name .. By publishing that album under *gidle* and herself as the rapper, she's inherently taking on those raps as part of her discography. We can theorize all we want, but when trying to objectively judge, I can't really give the benefit of the doubt without actual evidence showing she was *forced* or had not choice .. or something to discredit those raps. Until that comes out, I have to assume there's a reason why she did those raps without any public statement about being disappointed in the production or idk.. something. Like, doing that.. you can take the same logic to any idol who doesn't write 100% of their own raps and say "Well, they are forced by the producers to rap that way so they're actually higher".. you know? We can't just give Soyeon a special exception because we love her. 2 - I think the *focus on different aspects* actually says a lot. Again, she had raps on this album... two she wrote. SuperLady was extremely lackluster due to it's length and "Revenge" was very much like iFeel, super straightforward it seems. Like, the fact Minnie wrote the best rap on the album is really something to think about for me. I get she was focusing more on vocals but?? Now ... ok... so the hard stuff; Buldak - YES, that's the one highlight of 2023 for me from Soyeon, and it's shrouded in this unknown if she even wrote it since there's no credits ... at least none that I can find. I mean, maybe I can move her up a handful of spots, but ahhhh the fact her *best* rap last year still has a little caveat to it is really worrying to me making stuff like this. Smoke - ... there's a reason I never made a video on this ... I'm like, 50% on if she messed up on it. I'm really really excited to hopefully hear her do more KHH collabs in 2024, since the style she did there is what we've been missing ... well really since BBN, but ahhh I really didn't want to put too much emphasis on it since there's no studio version or anything to base it against. I completely understand your points, and I could concede bumping her a tier up and maybe being too rough on a single very very down year from her focusing on other things, but I just look at the rappers above her ... J-Hope collabed with J.cole, but I guess she could go above him... beyond that though?? Rawhyun released an INSANE soundcloud project last year that was just so surprisingly legit with actually some impressive af raps on NTX... Hongjoong had what I would argue is the best year of any kpop rapper in 2023. Sunwoo continues to release a handful of top tier mindblowing raps every year consistently, even when The Boyz don't focus on rap.. the track literally changes for him to do something super cool. Jiseong ... my god the dude is cracked with like an entire 3 minute long complex verse as well as many many many insane verses beyond that. J.seph had his best year ever last year with solid stuff previously from KARD. RM's indigo was a decent project that brought us back a bit to 2015 ... but yknow, if he didn't have all these down years, he'd be up in that "Big three" category. Then there's B.I who had arguably the best *rap focused* album of 2023 from any current or former kpop idol... like, it's really hard to move her up in this with all the people above her (except Jhope), doing INSANE stuff last year. I hope that makes sense. I totally understand your point though but yeah, just difficult with the placements.

I wonder why YG holds the Treasure rap line back. Compared to Bobby, B.I., and Mino, it seems the Treasure rap line isn't given the “freedom” to showcase their rap skills. Bobby, B.I, and Mino went on SMTM to prove their skills. Mino and Bobby were allowed to form MOBB and put out an album. Mino has released 3 albums under YG, Bobby technically released 2 but his first album was his prize for winning SMTM. B.I never got to release an album but he an Bobby had said they were working on an album together. Of course, they never got to release it because the scandal happened

I would say that probably has something to do with the title tracks YG let’s them release these days compared to Winner and iKON who were able to mostly produce their tracks from the very start of their careers including the title track so they were able to fully shape the direction of their sound and rapping style etc. While for Treasure, it seems like they are not given free reins just yet in terms of music production… not sure why that is.
@Robalexe8 ай бұрын
Treasure rappers write all their raps and also produce a good chunk of the music, don't put the blame on YG for why they don't show off. Even though they don't produce the title tracks, they still don't do much on the b-sides they produce themselves

I've always thought this group over the last 2 years or however long they've been around has had pretty generic music its been like really safe concepts that kinda blend in with everything else like the epitome of 5/10 production in my honest opinion(subjectively of course). I just so happened to click on this latest comeback out of boredom though and I genuinely feel like it is my favorite song in Kpop in 2024 so far. They completed changed their concept and went with a style that I feel is genuinely unique in kpop and they absolutely owned it. @@AbB-bl8qc It definitely plays a role, as a blue dot makes it difficult to be above impressive. He said Sunwoo wouldn't be top tier if all of his self-written raps weren't great, so it's not a completely limiting factor (also helped by the fact that it was his early years that he didn't write much, if it was the other way other around he wouldn't be top tier). And if you have a red dot you can barely scratch impressive tier. Green dot doesn't automically make you solid either though, look at Haruto and Yeonjun for example.
