These small KTMs(Duke & RC 125/200/250/390) and their Bajaj counterparts (NS/RS 200) are pretty much the backbone of the Indian sports bike scene (love my 10.5k RPM redlines on 200s lol). They are (almost) perfect for the Indian highways which are much much narrower than their US counterparts and have pretty unpredictable traffic. Going 70 on those things is nearly a death wish. Having owned a couple of these machines over there and moving to the states was an eye opener for me in terms of what your highways demand (I've only been to Atl. Will probably head to your meet next weekend!). I totally did not know that the sub 390 KTMs even existed here, this is clearly not a market for them. Great Video and hope to meet you on Nov 3rd !

I'm in the PNW and my first bike was a 2005 Hyosung Gt250 Comet. I've also had a 2005 ninja 250ex and a 2015 Suzuki GSX-R600, but I miss the Hyosung the most, I rode it on average 450mi per week on all kinds of roads. For whatever reason everyone thought that it was a 800 or 900.

Hi! is there an event on Nov 3rd??
@sanjayyethipathiАй бұрын
i have this very bike here in india & the power delivery is perfect for indian roads. in traffic, i keep it in low revs and in twisties/highways i rev it all the way.
@DerekFramptonАй бұрын
@sanjayyethipathi for Indian roads a toaster's power delivery is perfect, These are AMERICAN roads. MUCH larger, 80% 4-wheel+ CAGERS, LESS 2 Wheel, and leaps and bounds HIGHER SPEEDs up to 70-80MPH (112KMH-129KMH) just for normal in-town highways and interstates etc. This bike is WAY under-powered for 90% of the United States. Cheers.

I can't speak on the 250, but my 390 loves to stay above 5k. I spend most of my city commute in 3rd gear. The small KTM Dukes are a prime example of "riding a small bike hard." Doing 45-55mph on these bikes is an absolute blast. I recommend the Duke as a daily commuter 10 out if 10.

The 2025 model gets pretty much the same styling (And it comes in complete black) and electronics as the 2024 Duke 390. If you are looking for this bike specifically, I would suggest waiting for a bit.

3:02 because we have limit of 250cc bikes in some countries like iran. like the bikes over 250cc are not street legal and that's why they make 250cc bikes. They make these for countries like iran.

I own the Duke 200 and I’m very happy with it. I also own a RC8R and 1290 Duke but for a 200 I’m not upset. If the 250 was out at the time (2022) I may have considered this but the newly released 200 has a color TFT. I’m a KTM fan but this is backwards

In norway, the duke 390s are way cheaper than the competition, so there's tons of them everywhere. I know it shouldn't, but it really taints my view of them of being just something cheap you get only to save money. I'm sure its a great bike, but i'm so tired of them lol

When I can find BRAND NEW 2023 390's at $3,999, This bike is over-priced IMO. By the time ya spend the few upgrades in things like sliders, levers, adjustable suspension, and whatever else you can think of, it's the same price as a NEW 2024 KTM Duke 390. GREAT video as always, Chase 'n' crew!
@dhruvpansare3369Ай бұрын
The bike's limited. It revs to 10000 rpm quite happily. I have one here in india and the top speed is 155 kmph. Right now the bike was just revving to 8500 rpm because of it being new.

Hey Chase! You know that my first dream bike was KTM Duke 390 since it was launched in India in 2013. Thanks for making a video on this bike. I just have one small request, can you test ride Royal Enfield Continental GT 650. It is a cafe racer, it is kinda mini version of Triumph Thruxton. But it is not available at the Mountain Motorsports. You can find it at Vespa dealership in Marietta. And can you also fill me in the details about the event on Nov 3rd?

@@FarukCagatay I don't know, I'm from Guatemala. But you know, there's always the stigma of it being Chinese (it doesn't matter if you are from USA or Colombia). If that bothers you, don't buy the bike. Because there is a lot of hate towards the brand. Meanwhile I keep enjoying my Chinese bike 🥰
@FarukCagatayАй бұрын
@ I had a Benelli 125s and CFmoto 250sr, both were Chinese and I guess both were fine! People always say things about them but I haven’t tried wheelies or redlining them, just commuted home to work, did 5400km in 5 months with CFmoto and except a few things it was all fine I guess. I’m planning to get either CFmoto NK450 or KTM Duke 250, so can’t decide! Everyone says both have downsides so I don’t know 😬
@teej1987Ай бұрын
@FarukCagatay ya i mostly see the 450ss and 450nk. But i love the clx700. It's just a stroked ninja 650 engine, but the way it's tuned and geared makes it so much more quick to accelerate. It tops out around 115 though, but honestly I use it for city use , so i rarely go over 90 anyways

@garydobbs51596 күн бұрын
The honest truth is this bike is faster after 600 miles. My Duke let you set the top end after about 650 miles. It’s quick on the roads once the break in period is over. It’s not a super Duke but mine does 96 mph on the interstate so you can ride it on the interstate unless you just want to ride like a AHole. If you want to ride like an idiot go get something bigger. This is a great bike but you have to get past 600 for the settings to change so it can go faster. With all the problems they are having with the bigger bikes this might be more dependable
@virupakshawalla5734Ай бұрын
Pretty much same weight as 390. New one has the colour screen and a "mode" and I think the better brake pads of 390. It is fsst enough for India.

It is more tractable than 200. Take it on tight twisties. But it get to 80 easily. But 90 is about it. Wouldn't want to be ride it in 80mph traffic flow. Pretty sure I can get from 40 to 80 quicker than that. It picks up from 6000 and happy to 10000 revs. Its a bike for Asia and ? S. America
@am3rhmzhАй бұрын
85 for top speed? Sorry i think its 100 mph, i own one yeah cut off limit is 100 mph, maybe 250 its not suitable for you, but i do agree it really a fun bike for city riding. Cheerios
@Frank_TorreАй бұрын
OC: Having the Duke 390 on the market really does make the Duke 250 irrelevant. Yes it'll be cheaper than the Duke 390, but you're way more likely to get rid of the Duke 250 alot faster than the Duke 390. While the Duke 390 you could ride for a season or two and then progress to a bigger faster bike once you're fully confident and have built strong riding fundamentals. While on the Duke 250 if you weren't only riding in a dense city environment then you'd get bored with the Duke 250 pretty fast. The moment you spent any lengthy time on the highway and spent the entire time revving the hell outta the bike so you're not freight trained by all the speeding cars flying by and trying to take your soul with them you'd want to get a faster bike immediately.
