Such an incredible build. It was an honor to wheel with you all at COTR and watch this beast tackle everything, including the Poughkeepsie wall. I’ve had my doubts regarding the power train, so this is extremely encouraging to hear how well it performed. I hope it’s reliable too! You guys are truly “the best in the business”. Keep it up! This transformation of this 1958 is nothing short of extraordinary! The notion that you could visualize and render all this before you started the build is mind boggling. It "almost" gives me second thoughts about my GX Overtrail purchase. I've already placed my order with Air Down Gear Up for the Lexus version of the drawer/ sleeper platform. Thanks for showing it to us. I really hope you'll lean in to the Overtrail in the near future. Mine is lifted and running 35's, but the approach and departure angles are still abysmal and are crying out for some Descent Offroad magic!

Def sick build, good t see what can be done with the new platform, always have Prado's out in our trips, 90s/ 120/ LWB and SWB models, usually not too extreme, had to recover 3 on Sunday, one in a River stuck on a boulder and 2 diffed out on mud, but again only running 33s and 2" lift in most cases and no for or rear lockers, 80s to the rescue, but saying that they are very capable vehicles and have proven reliable. So This new model has grown on me, did feel Toyota esp in the US using the LC name to market it rather than earn the LC Badge, but that's the way these days, clearly this is capable and great to see. Well done guys, love ya work. The color is sick too btw. 🤘

You can get fly screen window socks and a big one that fits the rear door (when open) using magnets (ebay). Combined with weathershields on the rear windows you can have them slightly open when it rains. I have a bed in the back of my rig and that's the set up i run. Also using a 12 volt fan in the rear when sleeping during warm nights.

Ben, have you considered developing an aluminum drop down tailgate that would fold up in front of the drawer system and allow the hatch to close. Mounted to the door jamb somehow? I love the tailgate feature in all my older cruisers so it's a bit of a hang up that the 250 does not have it. Such a nice feature if you actually use your cruiser for exploring.

Looks incredible. They really nailed the styling in comparison to the 200. Love the bumpers they look fantastic too. Two negatives: the lack of a tail gate just sucks. I can't understand why they didn't add one. Seems like a no brainer. That and it looks like there's no articulation up front whatsoever. Does the LC250 have a factory transmission cooler? I know on the 2nd Gen Sequioa, they have a thermostat that acts as a "transmission warmer" which keeps the transmission fluid at 212F (too hot IMO) just sitting there. You can plumb it and install a Tundra transmission cooler (which we've done) and then if you tow, pin the thermostat open and your transmission temps then run at respectable numbers. I hope the elevated transmission temps are something that can be fixed easily, as it would be annoying stressing out and worrying about them whenever you are crawling off road.
@dissentoffroadАй бұрын
Thankfully we haven't had any issues but we like your idea. We won't be towing with this rig but if trans temps ever give us a problem while rock crawling then we may need to look into an aux cooler.

It's tough to say. The current setup works great for 35s and smaller with no need to regear. The old V6 just didn't have enough low end torque and the old V8s lacked power. So for the masses, this combo is pretty nice but we agree. For longevity and simplicity, it's tough to beat a tried and true V8. :)

Trying to decide between a current gen 4Runner and a lower cost Land Cruiser Prado (as they are similar price point). I prefer the look of the square old school LC's but am concerned about longevity and low cost reliability. Wife and I buy and keep cars for decades. I had a 1st gen 4Runner many years ago with manual transmission so not too worried about Toyota 4 Cyl. Don't rock crawl or anything - just drive to places for Mtn. bike, trail running, etc (i.e. N. CA, Tahoe, other CA locations etc) What do you think? Proven normally aspirated 6 cyl. 4Runner or new LC Prado? *battery replacement, 1st year of new model, etc feels a bit scary vs old old proven format.
@dissentoffroadАй бұрын
Tough to beat the 5th gen T4R for longevity. If you keep cars for decades then I'd go with that. The new LC250 is great but unproven for long-term reliability.
