the jeep drives much more stable, predictable. They made something incomprehensible out of the Prado. the base is too short, the front suspension travel is too small. it hangs out and doesn't drive
@dissentoffroad3 сағат бұрын
The wheelbase is great. A front locker would help cure most of the problems with IFS. The Jeep is a completely different vehicle and really struggled on things the Prado cleared easily and vise versus. 138" wheelbase will always wheel different than 112" wheelbase. Especially when you compare front locked solid axle to open diff IFS.

Such a rockin build! Anybody experiencing steering rack issues with the 250s as they make these big jumps in tire size/beating them on the trails?
@dissentoffroad3 сағат бұрын
Not yet. "knock on wood". It's an electric rack vs. hydraulic. Hopefully that means stronger in the long-term.
@boost17286 күн бұрын
Not a big fan of the tie rod end design on the 250- curious to see how they handle the tougher trails around here long-term. I don’t usually see great luck with big bends in the geometry like that especially if stuffed tight up against a boulder and you need to push yourself off; generally the tie rods go before the ball joints. Relatable IFS problems 😬 Beautiful truck, hope to see y’all around!
@dissentoffroad4 сағат бұрын
It' a mixed bag for sure. With a relatively small rack, we'd rather break/bend tie rods than the rack. Then again, we broke the tie rod on that SAS'd 4Runner and that thing was massive.

@@Gnargoyle811 It is what it is my friend. I love my 2024 1958 but without a front locker and as top heavy as it is no amount of lift and tires is gonna make it a crawler. And no chance I am cutting the body of my $70K rig. I'll build some POS XJ etc. as a crawler instead and give no shites about panel damage or frankensteining the body as need be for bumpers and clearance.

Did you need to recalibrate speedometer after this install?
@dissentoffroad3 сағат бұрын
There is no way to do that at this time that I am aware of. But any time you increase or decrease tire size you will experience an error in speedometer vs actual speed. Most of us just measure the difference and do the calculation in your head while driving. I.e. you know the speedo will read 4mph slower than what you are actually traveling. Drive accordingly. Alternatively, you can add a separate digital display on your phone, a tablet or something like a ScanGauge type device with the corrected speedo reading.

Don't understand why so many people run nittos? Please tell me because my understanding is they are hevay and don't air down well or flex. I do see they give out a lot of free tires. Lmk. And how come you didn't get the marlins crawler rclt independent front suspension kit?
@JustinCaseWages8 күн бұрын
Nittos are heavy because they are tough. The offroad traction is excellent on rocks and deep snow. They bag out pretty well when aired down assuming you have the correct load rating for your vehicle weight.
